What Is MCC's Law 41.16?

Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), the arbiter of the laws of the game, have released a statement regarding Ashwin's 'Mankad' run out of Jos Buttler in the match between Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab. The statement states that the spirit of the game wasn't violated during the incident.## Ravichandran Ashwin, the captain of Kings XI Punjab, dismissed Jos Buttler by removing the bails at the non-striker's end even before releasing the ball. Buttler who was batting on 69, adjudged out because of the MCC's law 41.16 that deals with the issue of a non-striker leaving his/her ground early.## The law states, if the non-striker is out of his/her ground from the moment the ball comes into play to the instant when the bowler would normally have been expected to release the ball, the bowler is permitted to attempt to run him/her out. Whether the attempt is successful or not, the ball shall not count as one in the over.## If the bowler fails in an attempt to run out the non-striker, the umpire shall call and signal Dead ball as soon as possible.## MCC found Kings XI Punjab's skipper within the law and said that the spirit of the game wasn't violated. Ashwin too said after yesterday's match in the press conference that he didn't plan to do 'Mankad' Buttler.## "Look, it was very instinctive. On my part, it was very instinctive. It was not planned or anything like that. It's there within the rules of the game. I don't understand where the spirit of the game comes, naturally, if it's there in the rules it's there".## After yesterday's incident, Ashwin got criticized by some of the former players who found the incident against the 'spirit of the game'.## Follow for more...

ODI Team Of 2018

Unlike Test, batting has been much easier in one-day format in 2018. It has been a landmark year for England in ODIs and emerged as the most favourite team to lift the World Cup to be held in England. On the other hand, India too had a brilliant year and their top order has dominated batting chart as well as ICC rankings. Bowling too has been brilliant where spinners came out as much more affected than the pacers.## The year 2018 was all about building up for 2019 where most of the teams have experimented in their playing XI considering the all-important World Cup next year. After looking at the performances, we have picked the players who stood out and made a difference in our ODI XI of 2018.## Here we are presenting you the best possible ODI XI of 2018:## 1. Rohit Sharma (IND) - The second highest run-getter after Virat Kohli with 1030 runs in 19 matches at an average of 73.57, Rohit Sharma started the year with low scores against South Africa but till the end of the year he came out as one of the only three batsmen with more than 1000 runs. He notched up 5 centuries and 3 half-centuries with his highest score being 162 against the Windies at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. He is also the second rank batsman in ICC ODI Ranking.## 2. Jonny Bairstow (ENG) - Jonny Bairstow has emerged as one of the most dangerous openers this year where his strike rate has been 118.22 (highest among the top run-getters). The right-hander has scored 1025 (Third highest) runs in 22 matches at an average of 46.59 including 4 centuries and 2 fifties with his highest score of 139 runs.## Other option as an opener - Shikhar Dhawan (IND), Shai Hope (WI)## 3. Virat Kohli (IND) - This is as obvious as it gets for the number one batsman. Kohli scored 1202 runs in 14 matches averaging a stellar 133.55 in 2018, which started with a 112 against South Africa in Durban. Kohli scored a 160 not out in Cape Town again, helping India win the series 5-1. He then ended the year with three consecutive hundreds against the Windies.## 4. Ross Taylor (NZ) - The 34-year old and one of the most experienced New Zealanders, Ross Taylor has had a phenomenal year with the bat. He has scored 639 runs in 10 innings with an average of 91.28 with the help of 2 centuries and 4 half-centuries where his highest score was 181*. Joe Root also was the other contender at no.4 but Taylor's ability to score quick runs earns him this spot.## 5. Jos Buttler (ENG) - The wicket-keeper batsman had a stupendous year where the 671 runs in 18 innings of 23 matches with an impressive average of 51.62 at no.5. His ability to score quick runs at the end of innings makes him a valuable player. His strike rate has been 113.53 and has scored 2 centuries (both came against Australia) and 4 half-centuries.## 6. Shakib Al Hasan (BAN) - The number 1 all-rounder from Bangladesh had a wonderful year with both bat and ball. Shakib's evergreen ability to turn games on its head makes him a different player from others and his record also justified that with 497 runs to go with 21 wickets across 15 matches.## 7. Thisara Perera (SL) - Thisara Perera has had a pretty good year in 50-over cricket despite Sri Lanka's dwindling fortunes. The 29-year old left-hand all-rounder has made handy contributions with the bat lower down the order averaging 34.58 and has also picked up 25 wickets at a very good average of just 20.72.## 8. Rashid Khan (AFG) - Arguably the best spinner at present in limited overs cricket, Afghanistan's leggie has had an outstanding year in the 50-over format. His abilities with bat and his mysterious bowling make him an outstanding player at no.8 for any side in the world. He has grabbed 48 wickets (most by any bowler) in 20 matches with an economy rate of under 4 per over.## 9. Kuldeep Yadav (IND) - Now India has their own Chinaman in Kuldeep Yadav and batsmen haven't able to pick his googlies. Wrist spin is certainly the way to go in limited overs cricket nowadays and Kuldeep Yadav is master in this. With 45 wickets in 19 games, Yadav was the second highest wicket-taker of 2018. He makes a deadly partnership with Yuzvendra Chahal. The spin duo helped India to win ODI series against South Africa in South Africa 5-1 where Yadav picked 17-wickets in 6 matches.## 10. Jasprit Bumrah (IND) - Wickets up front with the new ball, wickets at the death with some deadly variations, Jasprit Bumrah the rank 1 bowler can do it all at the moment. The 25-year old right-arm pacer has been standout bowler across formats. Bumrah took 22 wickets in 13 matches with an economy rate of 3.62 which is rare in modern day cricket.## 11. Mustafizur Rahman (BAN) - The left-arm pacer from Bangladesh has had a wonderful year with the ball. He picked up 29 wickets in 18 matches at an average of 21.72 and economy rate of 4.20. His ability to deceive batsmen with slower balls makes him one of the best bowlers in the world at present.## Follow for more...

Test Team Of 2018

The year 2018 has been one of the worst years for batting in Test cricket. The year that registered the lowest batting average (26.28) since 1959 tells how much batsmen have struggled throughout the year. On the other hand, it was the bowlers who have dominated batsmen in almost every match being played.## Well, 2018 has written its script and one must admit that it has been one of the worst years to pick playing XI of 2018 in the basis of performances as there are batsmen who haven't been consistent barring a few batsmen. Bowlers have done their job well but it is batsmen who have disappointed.## Here we are presenting you the best possible XI of 2018 of Test cricket (on the basis of performances)## 1. Tom Latham (NZ) - It has been the hard year for openers. New Zealand's Tom Latham who scored 450 runs in 3 innings against Sri Lanka in most recently concluded series has scored 658 runs in 12 innings including 2 centuries and 2 half-centuries with an average of 59.81 this year. His highest score of 264* came against Sri Lanka at Basin Reserve, Wellington where he carried the innings. Latham is the only opener who has averages over 50 after scoring 300 or more.## 2. Dimuth Karunaratne (SL) - The Sri Lankan left-hander despite his team's poor show, has been in good form and played some match-changing innings. The gritty left-hander has recorded 743 runs in 17 innings with an average of 46.43. Also has scored a century and 7 half-centuries including a match-changing unbeaten 158 against South Africa in Galle.## 3. Kane Williamson (NZ) - A rock solid at number 3 and one of the modern day masters has a brilliant year. In UAE against Pakistan, he played some crucial innings which helped New Zealand to win a Test against Pakistan after 1969 away from home. Earlier in the year, Williamson had also showcased exemplary technique to handle the swing and seam bowling of England's James Anderson to crunch a brilliant hundred. In 12 innings Williamson scored 651 runs at an average of 59.18 with 2 centuries and 3 half-centuries.## 4. Virat Kohli (IND) - Virat Kohli, as usual, had had another stellar year with the bat. The Indian captain is one of only two batsmen who has scored more than 1000 runs in 2018. Virat probably the only batsman who has been consistent throughout the year. Against England in England, he scored 593 runs in 10 innings where all other batsmen were struggling to score in seaming and swinging conditions. Even before England series, he was the most successful batsman in South Africa earlier this year in 3-match Test series. In 24 innings of 13 matches, Virat scored 1322 runs at an average of 55.08 including 5 hundred and 5 fifties.## 5. Henry Nicholls (NZ) - Another New Zealander who had had a spectacular with the bat. His partnership of 212 for the 4th wicket with Williamson against Pakistan where he scored 126 runs has been the highlight of the year that turned the table in New Zealand's favour from a losing position. The left-hander has scored 658 runs in 12 innings at a brilliant average of 73.11 with 3 centuries and 3 half-centuries.## 6. Jos Buttler (ENG) - It was a comeback year for the wicket-keeper batsman and has been a brilliant comeback. The attacking right-hander gave a glimpse of his immense potential with a well constricted fifty in the second innings of the Lord's Test versus Pakistan. He also notched up his maiden Test hundred against India at Trent Bridge that came in losing cause but he played a crucial part in England's series victory with a couple of the fifties. He scored 760 runs in 18 innings with an average of 44.70 including a century and 6 half-centuries.## 7. Jason Holder (WI) - The West Indian captain had had a good year with both bat and ball. He seemed to be an only all-rounder who justified his all-rounder's role. He snared 33 scalps at an astonishing average of 12.39. In 2018, Holder also recorded his best match figures by taking 11 scalps for 103 runs against Bangladesh in Jamaica. The Windies skipper also scored 336 runs at an average of 37.33.## 8. Nathan Lyon (AUS) - Australia's off-spinner who has 335 wickets in 83 matches had had a brilliant year. It has always been difficult for any spinner to take wickets in Australia that has a history of producing spicy pitches. The 31-year old played 10 matches and took 49 wickets at an average of 34.02. His best match figure was 8 for 106 this year.## 9. Pat Cummins (AUS) - A handy batsman lower down the order and a lethal fast bowler, Pat Cummins has emerged as a valuable player for Australia this year. The tall fast bowler turned out to be the mainstay of Australia's pace attack, scalping 44 wickets at just 19.97. He registered his best figure against India at MCG where he grabbed 6/27 in second innings and played a gritty knock of 63 runs in losing cause.## 10. Jasprit Bumrah (IND) - It has been Jusprit Bumrah's year by far. The 25-year old with unorthodox action took his Test career by storm, grabbing 48 wickets at an average of 21.02 in 9 matches. He made his Test debut against South Africa and became the only Asian bowler to take 5-fers in each of SA, ENG, and AUS in a calendar year.## 11. Kagiso Rabada (SA) - The number 1 bowler in ICC Test ranking, Kagiso Rabada was the has been brilliant throughout the year. With 52 wickets in 10 matches, he is the leading wicket-taker of 2018.## Follow for more...

MS Dhoni is good but Jos Buttler is at peak of his powers - Tim Paine

Is there any better wicketkeeper-batsman than England's Jos Buttler at this moment in the world?. Well Australian stand-in skipper Tim Paine don't think so.## After humiliating 5-0 lose to England, Australia's stand-in skipper said that it is a hard time for Australian cricket. But he was nothing sort in praising England's wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler and reckons that he is the best wicketkeeper-batsman in the world at the moment.## "He's good. He's very good," said the Australia captain. “Right now, at the moment, he'd have to be the best white-ball wicket-keeper batsman in the world. I don't think there are too many guys to challenge him. MS Dhoni is pretty good, but right at this moment, Jos is at the absolute peak of his powers.## “He understands his one-day game so well and knows his strengths inside-out and just doesn't go away from him. He's someone for our batters to watch and see first-hand. Those experiences are going to be really good for D'Arcy Short or Travis Head, to see him and Jonny Bairstow and Jason Roy at their best.”## Jos Buttler helped England to whitewash Australia with a sublime 110* in the final ODI where he single-handedly took his side over the line. He awarded Man Of The Match for his match-winning knock as well as Man Of The Series for scoring 275 runs in 5 innings with an astonishing average of 137.50.## England's skipper Eoin Morgan wasn't stingy with his words to praising his teammates after his brilliant performance in final ODI.## "To produce an innings like that when we needed, and to engage in partnerships with … they’re not tail-enders, they’re our lower order … it’s something that we saw in the past as well (from Buttler) and it’s something that is taken for granted,” said Morgan.## “He used all his experience today, particularly on a wicket that was two-paced, and managed to get us over the line somehow. When he plays like that, he creates a lot of belief in the changing room and amongst the guys, and that rubs off on the confidence level as well. Outstanding.”## England whitewash Australia which is their first ever whitewash over their arch-rivals in one-day cricket. On the other hand, after losing 5-0, Australia slipped to 6th rank which is their lowest since 1984 in ODIs.## For more updates and news, stay tuned to us.## Thanks for the reading.

Dinesh Karthik (KKR) - Dinesh Karthik was the top run-getter for KKR with 498 runs in 16 innings with an average of 49.80 and scored 2 fifty plus scores. He also led KKR to the qualifier where they lost to SRH. Most of the time he played a finisher role for his side.## 8. Suryakumar Yadav (MI) - It has been a disappointing season for the Mumbai Indians where they failed to qualify for the playoffs. But Suryakumar Yadav had been consistent for them throughout the season. He had scored 512 runs with an average of 36.57 in 14 innings and was the highest run-getter for his team.## 7. Virat Kohli (RCB) - RCB skipper is at number 6 in highest run-getter list with 530 runs in 14 innings. Despite his brilliant batting display, he failed to lead his side to the playoffs. He scored with an outstanding average of 48.18 and strike rate of 139.10.## 6. Jos Buttler (RR) - This IPL has been outstanding for Jos Buttler. Even though first half of the IPL hasn't been good for him but since he started batting as an opener, he recorded five consecutive fifties after that. He scored 548 runs with an excellent average of 54.80 in 13 innings and also was the highest scorer for Rajasthan Royals.## 5. Shane Watson (CSK) - Shane Watson is the only batsmen who struck 2 hundred in this IPL season. And he didn't disappoint his team with his performance. After Ambati Rayudu, he is the second highest run-getter for his team with 555 runs with 39.64(average) in 15 innings. He also scored two fifty-plus scores for his side. Because of Watson's ton in IPL final, CSK won IPL trophy easily. ## 4. Ambati Rayudu (CSK) - It has been the year to remember for Ambati Rayudu in which he scored his maiden IPL hundred. He has scored 602 runs in 16 innings and the highest run-getter for the CSK. He's been recalled to the Indian team for England tour in both ODIs and T20s, thanks to his brilliant form.## 3. KL Rahul (KXIP) - KL Rahul arguably has been the best batsman of this IPL. He has scored 659 runs with and an amazing average of 54.91 in 14 innings. But it is pity that even his best season with the bat could not take KXIP through playoffs. Lack of middle order contribution hurt KXIP most.## 2. Rishabh Pant (DD) - Well, everyone is saying that Rishabh Pant is the future of Indian cricket. His ability to strike the ball hard makes him the special player. Even though he couldn't help DD to qualify but his performance grabbed the attention of big names of cricket. He has scored 684 runs in 14 innings with an average of 52.61. His knock of 128* against RCB has been the highlight of this season.## 1. Kane Williamson (SRH) - Kane Williamson is the highest run-getter in this IPL and likely to remain on the top. He has scored 735 runs in 17 innings with an average of 52.50 and scored 8 fifty plus scores (most by any in this IPL). He also led SRH to the final where they lost from CSK on Sunday, May 27 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.## Follow for more...

Unstoppable Buttler Scripts RR's Clinical Win

Rajasthan Royals stopped Mumbai Indians' three consecutive winning streak to handed them a thumping 7-wicket defeat after yet another Jos Buttler show at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Sunday (May 13). With this win, RR move up to fifth number in points table with 12 points in 12 matches. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians received a big blow to their playoff hopes after this defeat.## Mumbai Indians got a solid start but couldn't not capitalize this start and restricted to 168 after 20 overs. Rajasthan Royals chased down this target comfortably in the end with two overs to spare. Thanks to Jos Buttler's an unbeaten 94 off 53 balls including 9 fours and 5 sixes.## Where did MI let this match slipped from their hands## After first 10 overs. This has been the story so far. They wasted the start provided by their openers. After putting to bat first, Suryakumar Yadav and Evin Lewis put on a 87-run stand for the first wicket before they collapsed in middle overs. losing Suryakumar Yadav after scoring 38 off 31 balls, MI lost big wicket on very next ball as Rohit Sharma gone on golden duck. Ishan Kishan, the hero of the other night couldn't contribute much in this game and manage to get only 12 off 11 balls before Ben Stokes grabbed him.## Evin Lewis, who hadn't been in good form in last few matches, found his lost touch and scored 60 off 40 balls including 4 fours and 4 sixes. However, he couldn't play throughout the MI's innings and lost his wicket on the score of 108 after 13.2 overs. Krunal Pandya also failed to score runs and made only 3 off 7 balls.## Hardik-The finisher came to rescue## When Krunal got out, MI were 131 after 17 overs. MI's condition could have been even worse if Hardik Pandya didn't play a cameo of 36 off 23 balls. He provided finishing touch to MI's innings. His 35-run partnership off 18 balls with Ben Cutting lifted MI's score to 168 after 20 overs.## Unstoppable Buttler strikes again## Defending 169, Mumbai Indians got an early wicket of D'Arcy Short in first over. Short's poor run in this IPL continued in this match as he could manage 4 off 5 balls. But it was Jos Buttler, who continued his breathtaking form and scored fifth consecutive fifty-plus score in this IPL. He equals the record of most consecutive fifties with Virendra Sehwag.## It was nothing but another classic example of his ability. First, he put on an outstanding 95-run stand with skipper Ajinkya Rahane, who scored 37 off 36 balls before Hardik grabbed him. The wicket of Rahane brings Sanju Samson at the crease and smashed quick-fire 26 off 14 balls. Both Buttler and Samson added 61 off 30 balls together and almost finished the game before Samson got out to Hardik after hitting two back to back sixes. However, Buttler finished the game with a massive six to Hardik in the same over.## Archer-The game changer## When Mumbai Indians looking to get big score then it was Jofra Archer, who changed the game and brought back Rajasthan Royals in to match. He got two back to back wickets of Suryakumar Yadav and Rohit Sharma. In his 4 overs he conceded only 16 runs. Ben Stokes was also good with ball and gave away 26 runs in 4 overs and picked Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya.## Jos Buttler awarded Man Of The Match for his another match-winning knock. Adaptability Is The Key To Success For Buttler

Rajasthan Royals, after playing tough few matches in the middle, back to winning streak with back to back wins. However, the scene could have been different if they didn't play with Buttler on top. ## But as it is said "better late than before". They finally found their right combination up the batting order. After promoted Buttler as an opener, Rajasthan Royals won two out of four matches they played. Royals move up to number six in the points table with 10 points in 11 matches.## Jos Buttler has been outstanding after promoted as an opener. In last four matches, he has scored 67(26), 51(39), 82(58), 95*(60). These scores are enough to prove that RR missed a trick by not promoting him up the order.## However, it was not all that easy for Buttler after tough he had played before. But he adapted himself with the role he had given after. Buttler is the perfect man RR in first 6 overs where he can make full use of field restriction. He always provided flying start to Rajasthan Royals in those matches.## However, his latest knock against the Chennai Super Kings was arguably the best among the lot given that it had several fluctuations as the situation demanded, and him coming out in triumph each time. More than that his role always was to provide flying start.## In the match against CSK, he not only provided RR a solid start but also stood as a lone warrior in the run chase. However, CSK pushed Buttler on the back foot for several times and kept taking wickets in regular interval but he didn't lose his concentration and played till the end. He single-handedly took RR through home.## His knock was also applauded by the Chennai Super Kings head coach, Stephen Fleming after the match.## "I was pretty comfortable with the score that we got. But was had to get Stokes and Buttler early. We got Stokes but as I said, Buttler was a class apart. He was able to take the conditions out of play, he still found it difficult as the game went on. We still felt we had a chance if we got him out, but we just didn't get him out," said Fleming.## However, Fleming thinks that their bowler didn't execute their plans and allowed Buttler to open his arms.## He said, "The bowling could have been better. It's under pressure that Buttler played a good inning on a difficult track. We could have been more accurate, we missed a few times. But the fair bit of pressure the way Buttler played. It was almost two different games wasn't it?, if we could have got him earlier, I think the result might have been different. But I think it was great lone hand and we had no real answers. He put us under pressure. We had our chances but just couldn't capitalize tonight,".## Rajasthan Royals will be hoping that Buttler will continue his fine form into next matches. However, it is high time that someone steps up in the middle order too. One mistake and they will be out of this competition.## For more updates and news, stay tuned to us.## Thanks for reading!

Buttler star as RR's playoff hopes alive

Rajasthan Royals kept their playoff hopes alive as they beat Chennai Super Kings by 4-runs after Jos Buttler's stunning knock of 95* off 60 balls, at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur on Friday (May 11). After restricted CSK to 176, Buttler single-handedly guided RR home with one ball to spare.## Chennai Super Kings rides on Suresh Raina's 52 off 35 balls and Dhoni's unbeaten 33 off 23 balls to reach 176 after 20 overs.##Buttler strikes again## After putting 176 on a pitch which was on the slower side, CSK found themselves favorites to win this match. However, Buttler had some other idea. He provided RR a flying start despite losing two wickets in powerplay where RR scored 57 runs. He started with back to back three boundaries to David Willey on first 3 balls of the match. He followed this with 2 fours and a six to Harbhajan Singh in next over. RR lost the first wicket on 48 as Ben Stokes was dismissed by Harbhajan Singh after hitting a four and six in previous two balls. However, Ajinkya Rahane's poor form continued in this game as well as he was dismissed by Jadeja after hitting the boundary on the previous ball.## Buttler kept playing his shots and reached to his fourth successive fifty off just 26 balls. He put on a 46-run stand for the third wicket with Sanju Samson before Samson got run out after scoring 21 off 22 balls. However, CSK put pressure in middle overs with tight line and length. RR needed 38 runs in last 3 overs. They collected10 runs in 18th over and left with 28 off 2 overs. Kaeishanppa Gowtham then hit two sixes to Willey in 19th over and collected 16 from that over. With 12 needed in last over, Bravo gave only 4 runs in first three balls before Buttler hit six on 4th balls and changed the equation completely. He then took 2 runs on 5th balls and provided RR a much-needed win. He was awarded Man Of The Match for his stunning knock.##How CSK reached to 176?##CSK decided to bat first after winning the toss. However, they lost Rayudu on 19 in 3rd over. But after that Suresh Raina and Shane Watson didn't give any chance to RR and put on an 86-run stand for the second wicket. Raina was more aggressor in the partnership. In this process, he reached to his fifty off just 32 balls.##However, RR bounced back in this game by picking Watson and Raina in back to back overs. In the end, Dhoni and Billings' partnership worth 55 runs off 40 balls lift CSK to 176. Dhoni remained unbeaten on 33 off 23 balls including a six and four. While Sam Billings scored 27 off 22 balls. Ish Sodhi was the pickup bowler for RR as he conceded only 29 runs and picked 1 wicket in 4 overs.##Have CSK had a chance##Well, on a pitch that offered some help for spinners. Made CSK favorites after halfway mark. They kept in pressure most of the RR batsmen but Buttler made the difference. However, Gowtham's lusty blows also hurt CSK badly but it was Buttler, who took the game away from CSK. Shardul Thakur was the only bowler, who could able to stop Buttler. He gave away 22 runs in 4 overs and picked a wicket of Prashant Chopra. Jadeja was also good with the ball and conceded 28 runs in his 4 overs and dismissed Rahane.## For more updates and news, stay tuned to us.##Thanks for reading.
