Akshay Kumar's Digital Debut Series 'The End' Likly To Roll Out Later This Year, Says Producer Vikram Malhotra

Mumbai, June 17, 2021: Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar will soon be making his digital debut with Amazon Prime Video's thriller series, titled "The End". The show was announced many moons back but due to the covid-19 pandemic, the production was delayed. But now, things are finally falling in place as makers are set to roll out the series soon. ## Producer Vikram Malhotra said on Wednesday (June 16) that the production of the Akshay Kumar starrer show will start either towards the end of the year or early 2022. The producer was speaking during a special event of Vidya Balan starrer "Sherni", backed by Malhotra's Abundantia Entertainment, that his team is currently working on several series with Prime Video, including "The End". ## Malhotra's banner had previously produced the thriller series "Breathe" and its second season. ## "Apart from Breathe, there are other series in development like 'Hush Hush', which is in the middle of the production. We had to pause it because of the pandemic. There's a show called 'The End', featuring Akshay Kumar. It is set to start later this year or early next year, depending on how the situation is", Malhotra told reporters.## "The End" is said to be a survival thriller set in the future. Whereas "Hush Hush" is a thriller drama, led by an all-female cast, including actors Juhi Chawla, Soha Ali Khan, Shahana Goswami, Kritika Kamra, Karishma Tanna, and Ayesha Jhulka.## Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar has several projects in the pipeline. He is the busiest actor in the industry at the moment. His Sooryavanshi and Bell Bottom are ready to release while Atrangi Re and Prithviraj are also completed the production. Akshay also has Bachchan Pandey, Ram Setu, and Raksha Bandhan currently under production. Apart from these confirmed films, the actor is also in the final stage with producers to sign at least six to seven films. ## Stay tuned...

Shah Rukh's appeal: 'India and Indians are one family'

Mumbai, April 2 (IANS) Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has tweeted to state that this is the time when all Indians must be united as "one family" and "do our little bit to look after each other".## In a social media post, he sent out on Thursday evening, on his Twitter handle @iamsrk, the actor wrote: "In these times its imp to make everyone around you working tirelessly for you.. not related to u.. to feel they are not alone and by themselves. Let's just make sure we will do our little bit to look after each other. India and all Indians are One Family."## Earlier, on @RedChilliesEnt, the Twitter handle of his production house Red Chillies Entertainment, the actor gave out a lengthy statement announcing his contributions to the current fight against COVID-19 through his group companies -- Kolkata Knight Riders, Red Chillies Entertainment, Meer Foundation, and Red Chillies VFX. He also lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the government's efforts in fighting the COVID-19 war. He, however, did not specify any monetary amount to specify how much he would be donating.## "Given the enormity of the task, my team and I discussed ways to contribute in our own modest way. We have come up with a series of initiatives, which we hope will make a small difference. The efforts of our Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi Ji coupled with the efforts of the Chief Ministers, Shri Uddhav Thackeray Ji, Smt Mamata Banerjee, Shri Arvind Kejriwal, and all other States and Union Territories leaders have been commendable in fighting this pandemic. We have initially focused our efforts on the three cities -- Mumbai, Kolkata and New Delhi with the realization that this is a start and we stand ready to contribute in whichever way possible going forward," the actor said in the statement.## "At a time when the human race is facing an immense crisis, there can only be one true response: The expression of Humanity itself. This is a moment for all of us to come together in a collective effort to make each other kinder, stronger and braver to face the days ahead. This crisis is not going to pass in a hurry, it will take its time and its toll on all of us. It will also show us that there isn't really a choice between looking out for ourselves and looking out for one another.## "There's nothing more obvious in the spread of this pandemic, than the fact that each one of us is inextricably connected to each other, without any distinction. Aur kripya karke... kuch dinon ke liye... ek doosre se sharirik taur se... thoda door... aur door... aur door... aur door."## According to the statement released by SRK, through his IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), which he co-owns with wife Gauri Khan, Juhi Chawla Mehta and Jay Mehta, he has committed to contribute to the PM-Cares Fund. Through Red Chillies Entertainment co-owned by Gauri and SRK, he has committed to contributing to the Maharashtra CM's Relief Fund.## That apart, the media release said, the superstar has also pledged Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for healthcare providers and health care workers. KKR and Meer Foundation will work with the West Bengal and the Maharashtra governments and contribute 50,000 PPE kits and work at raising awareness among people.## SRK's Meer Foundation along with the foundation Ek Saath will provide daily food requirements to over 5500 families for at least a month in Mumbai. Meer Foundation is also collaborating with Roti Foundation -- founded by former Director General of Police, Maharashtra, Mr. D. New Delhi, March 31 (IANS) While we get to watch new films all the time, the lockdown could be a golden chance to catch up with a few classics across genres. Digital platforms are overflowing with them, and you would literally be spoilt for choice selecting some really enjoyable stuff that has come out of Bollywood over the decades. Twenty-one days, it would seem, is too short a time to catch up with what really defines vintage Bollywood and is available in the OTT libraries.## IANS picks a few old films that you might want to revisit, that will let you relax and bust the stress of lockdown. Of course, this is not a definitive list.## * Chupke Chupke (1975) -## Directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee, the comedy film is about a man pretending to be a driver and fooling his wife's brother-in-law as an attempt to prove that the brother-in-law is not as smart as he claims to be. The film stars Dharmendra, Sharmila Tagore, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, and Om Prakash. It is available on Netflix.## * Munna Bhai MBBS (2003) -## The comedy-drama, directed by Rajkumar Hirani, is about a goon who sets out to fulfill his father's dream of becoming a doctor. It is available on Netflix.## * Amar Akbar Anthony (1977) -## The Manmohan Desai multistarrer is widely considered one of the best examples of Bollywood masala entertainment ever. The film had a lasting impact on pop culture, with Laxmikant-Pyarelal's distinct score, the dramatic one-liners, colorful characters and a peculiar mix of slapstick and melodrama. It is available on Netflix.## * Bobby (1973) -## The iconic film, starring Dimple Kapadia, Rishi Kapoor, Pran, and Prem Nath, is considered a classic in Indian cinema. It is about Raja, an 18-year-old son of a rich Hindu businessman, who falls in love with 16-year-old Bobby, a Catholic belonging to a very different stature. It is available on Netflix.## * Gol Maal (1979) -## The Hrishikesh Mukherji gem is one of the greatest mainstream comedies that Bollywood has ever made. Featuring Utpal Dutt in what has to be his defining comic role, the film stars Amol Palekar and Bindiya Goswami, in a merry story of confusion, triggered off by a man who, under circumstances, has to pretend that he has a wayward and ill-mannered twin brother. The film is available on Netflix. The idea inspired Rohit Shetty's 2012 hit "Bol Bachchan".## * Andaz Apna Apna (1994) -## The film narrates adventures of two young broke men who discover that a stunning heiress lives nearby and tries to charm her. It stars Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Raveena Tandon, Karisma Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, and Shakti Kapoor. It is available on Amazon Prime Video and Netflix.## * Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa (1994) -## Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi and Deepak Tijori, the film is about a boy who falls for a girl who is in love with someone else and tries to create a rift between her and the man she loves. It is available on Netflix.## * Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995) -## Watch the iconic Raj and Simran's story come alive once again. The Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer follow the romance of two NRIs who despite being madly in love refuses to elope. It is remembered for its plot, dialogues, and soulful music. The film, available on Amazon Prime Video, also turned out to be a launchpad for Shah Rukh as the king of romance in the Indian film industry.## * Silsila (1981) -## It is a love story, thwarted by society's demands, which reappears as adultery. The film stars late Shashi Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Rekha, and Sanjeev Kumar. The romantic drama, directed by late Yash Chopra, is available on Amazon Prime Video.## * Lamhe (1991) -## The romantic drama is about a young man Viren (Anil Kapoor) falling in love with an older woman, Pallavi (late Sridevi) -- who goes onto marry her love. However, a tragic accident kills Pallavi and her husband, orphaning their baby girl, Pooja. Pooja grows up to be a spitting image of her mother. It is about how she falls in love with a now older Viren. The Yash Chopra directorial is available on Amazon Prime Video.## * Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro (1983) -## The comedy film, directed by Kundan Shah, is a dark satire on the corruption in Indian politics, bureaucracy, media, and business. It features Naseeruddin Shah, Ravi Baswani, late Om Puri, Pankaj Kapur, Satish Shah, Satish Kaushik, Bhakti Barve, and Neena Gupta. You can watch it on Amazon Prime Video.## * Sholay (1975) -## The classic film tells the story of a retired policeman (Thakur) who summons a pair of small-time thieves to help him capture a notorious dacoit Gabbar Singh. Directed by Ramesh Sippy, the revenge drama features Dharmendra, late Sanjeev Kumar, Hema Malini, Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya, and late Amjad Khan. It is available on Amazon Prime Video.## * Maine Pyaar Kiya (1989) -## The musical directed by Sooraj Barjatya holds a special place in the hearts of many who grew up in the 1990s. It re-defined friendship and romance in Bollywood. Directed by Sooraj Barjatya, the film traces Prem (Salman Khan) and Suman (Bhagyashree)'s love story hindered by family disputes and financial differences. It is available on Amazon Prime Video.## * Hera Pheri (2000) -## Priyadarshan's madcap misadventure starring Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Suniel Shetty, and Tabu narrates the story of three impoverished men who become rich by the end of the tale thanks to a freakish stroke of luck and a kidnapping plan went wrong. One of the most hilarious films ever made in India, it is available on Amazon Prime Video.## * Mughal-e-Azam (1960) -## The epic historical drama film, directed by K. Asif, tells a love story between Mughal Prince Salim and Anarkali, a court dancer. Salim's father and emperor Akbar disapproves of the relationship, which leads to a war between father and son. The classic film features Madhubala, Dilip Kumar, and Prithviraj Kapoor.
