Mumbai, July 11 - Akshay Kumar's comedy thriller Housefull 5 has completed five weeks at the box office. Despite the mixed reception, the movie has managed to earn a decent success. It has emerged as the biggest grosser for Akshay Kumar since Sooryavanshi (2021) at the global box office. ## At one point, it looked like Housefull 5 would be able to outgross Sooryavanshi's final worldwide gross of 293 crores, but due to competition and mixed word of mouth, the pace got slow at the box office. It will finish as the second biggest grosser for the superstar in the post-pandemic world, just short of Sooryavanshi at around 290 crores. ## Nonetheless, Housefull 5 has an outside chance to beat Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Priyanka Chopra's Bajirao Mastani (184.30 crores net) and Kartik Aaryan's Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (184.32 crores net) at the domestic box office to enter the top 50 biggest Hindi net grosser list. The movie needs another 1 crore net to surpass these two films, which looks extremely difficult, but might get there if it manages to stay in theatres for a few more weeks on limited theatres. The film, which was originally supposed to be titled Aashiqui 3, features Sreeleela as the female lead, also marking her Bollywood debut. ## The film was announced earlier this year with a Diwali 2025 release date. However, according to the latest report by The Hollywood Reporter India, the love story is set to be delayed to a new date, possibly to 2026. ## It is said that Anurag Basu has completed 40% of the total shoot of the film after it went on floors in March this year. Mumbai, May 23 - Producer Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films is turning 2019's hit rom-com Luka Chuppi into a franchise and has put its sequel under development with a new leading cast, replacing Kartik Aaryan and Kriti Sanon from the original movie. ## According to the report by Peepingmoon.com, Maddock has roped in Varun Dhawan and Sharvari Wagh to headline Luka Chuppi 2. Both actors have reportedly given their preliminary approval and are expected to formally sign on once the script is finalised in the coming months. ## The report further said that the sequel will be different from the original movie, with a supernatural twist in its comedic narrative.
