Tamil Film Industry Rocks 68th National Film Awards With 10 Awards

New Delhi, July 23 - The 68th National Film Awards have been announced for the year 2020. The awards were delayed for two years due to the covid-19 pandemic before returning for 67th National Awards last year to honour the films and artiste of 2019. ## The 68th National Film Awards has been dominated by Tamil Film Industry with 10 awards, including the Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film of a Director. Superstar Suriya's "Soorarai Pottru" won 5 awards including the Best Feature Film of 2020. The movie also won the first National Award for Suriya and Aparna Balamurali for their performances.## "Soorarai Pottru", written and directed by Sudha Kongara, also won National Awards for Best BGM to GV Prakash Kumar and Best Screenplay. "Sivaranjiniyum Innum Sila Pengalum" won three National Awards for Best Feature Film in Tamil, Best Supporting Actress for Lakshmi Priya Chandramouli, and Best Editing for Sreekar Prasad. "Toolsidas Junior" was honored with Best Hindi Feature Film.## Marathi Cinema also won 8 National Awards "Funeral" won Best Film on Social Issues while "Sumi" was announced Best Children's Film. Akanksha Pingle and Divyesh Indulkar won Best Child Artist awards for the same film.
