Wicketkeeping is one of the hardest skills in cricket. It takes a lot of physical as well as mental strength. It is not easy for any wicketkeeper to stay behind the wickets for 90 overs in a day in a Test match but still, they give their 100% for their team to win the match.## There have been wicket keepers who have more than 300 dismissals behind the wickets in Test cricket. South Africa's Mark Boucher has the most number of dismissals in Test matches with 555 dismissals in 147 matches. His record is looking unbreakable in the near future as there is not a single wicketkeeper even close to him. West Indies' Denesh Ramdin has the highest number of dismissals (217) among the current wicket keepers who is far behind Mark Boucher.## India has produced some great wicketkeepers and Mahendra Singh Dhoni is arguably the greatest of them. He hardly misses behind the stumps and his stumping skill has been the best over the years. In 294 dismissals, 256 were catches and 38 were stumping.## 2. Syed Kirmani (198) - Syed Kirmani was India's best wicketkeeper in the '90s. He played for India 10 years from 1976 to 1986 and dismissed 198 behind the wickets. He replaced the flamboyant Farokh Engineer behind the stumps for India and went on to become one of the greatest wicketkeepers for the country. He played a crucial role in India's triumph in the 1983 World Cup both with gloves and bat.## 3. Kiran More (130) - Kiran More was one of those gutsy little keepers who always relished a challenge, even thrived under it. Even though he could play only 49 Tests for India but had done effectively well as he claimed 130 dismissals behind the wickets that were 110 catches and 20 stumpings. He is infamously known for dropping Graham Gooch on 36 and later he went on to score 333 at Lord's in 1990.## 4. Nayan Mongia (107) - Nayan Mongia has been one of those wicket keepers who always remained cheerful, friendly, modest behind the wickets but very serious about his game. His career has been very much similar to Kiran More. Just like More, he too played 7 years for India and five fewer matches than him. In 44 matches he claimed 107 dismissals including 99 catches and 8 stumpings.## 5. Wriddhiman Saha (85) - Wriddhiman Saha is regarded as India's best wicketkeeper at present. Despite been talented, he couldn't get an opportunity as there was the great MS Dhoni as a regular wicket keeper. Rishabh Pant (39) - Rishabh Pant is new India wicketkeeper who likes to sledge opposition batsmen while doing wicketkeeping. Rohit Sharma, India's premier batsman in white ball cricket has returned in the Test team as BCCI has announced 15-member squad for Australia tour 2018-19 starring from 21st November. Hardik Pandya hasn't fully recovered from injury and doesn't find a place in Test team, however, he will be a part of India A team against New Zealand.A for one-dayers later this year.## "Hardik Pandya has not yet recovered and will at least sit out till November 15. It's very difficult to match Hardik's all-around ability. At least we don't see that kind of ability now in India. That's why no other alternatives were discussed. And we expect Bhuvi [Bhuvneshwar] to come good; we know he can bat," India chief selector MSK Prasad said on Friday (October 26).## Murli Vijay who was dropped from the Test team after first two Test against recently concluded England tour has recalled for Australia tour. Parthiv Patel also named in the squad as a backup wicket-keeper of Rishabh Pant while Mayank Agarwal and Mohammed Siraj who were in the squad for West Indies Test, have been left out.## Rohit Sharma last played a Test during the South Africa tour earlier this year. However, he couldn't perform well out there but his white ball form forced selectors to include him in the Test side. He was in the line to make a Test comeback against England but was sidelined and Hanuma Vihari earned his maiden call-up.## "With regard to Rohit, we felt that his nature of cricket - he's a very good backfoot player, and we felt that his game is much suited to play in Australia. He [Parthiv] was not picked for the game against Afghanistan and also the England series, but subsequently, he played the Duleep Trophy, he batted well and kept well. So, if you see the selection we've done for the whole team, it's a mixture of youth and experience, which we really wanted because it's going to be a high-intensity series, which is why we've fallen back on the experience. The advantage of Parthiv is that he's a left-hander and can bat at any order. When the team demanded, even with a fractured hand he opened the innings in South Africa," Prasad said.## Selectors have included the experienced opener, Murli Vijay along with KL Rahul and Prithvi Shaw. Vijay, after been dropped from the squad, went on to play county cricket for Essex and registered four 50+ scores (including a hundred) in 5 innings and proved that he was in good nick. His excellent runs on previous Australia tour also forced selectors to recall him for Australia tour. Chasing 253, India was on 127 for 1 after 20 overs and was looking good to chase the total down. Suddenly Rahul played a reverse sweep to a straight ball off Rashid Khan and ball hit on his pad and he was given out. He looked plumb with naked eyes but he infamously took the review after discussing with his partner (Dinesh Karthik). ## Though he knew he was out he still went for review with a ray of hope. But guess what, the umpire's decision remained and Rahul had to take a long walk to the dressing room.## However, even after losing Rahul India was still in a good position to win the match but destiny had some other plans. When MS Dhoni (stand in his 200th ODI as captain) was batting on 8, he takes a dig forward to Javed Ahmadi but the ball missed his bat and hit him on his pad, Ahmadi appealed and the umpire gave Dhoni out. ## Dhoni was shocked by the decision and he was right as the ball was spinning and missing the leg stump. The review could have saved him but it was already wasted by Rahul. Dhoni had no choice but to go back.## After Dhoni, India lost Manish Pandey (caught behind) and Kedar Jadhav (run out) as next two batsmen. When Jadhav got out India was 204 for 5 and needed another 49 more runs to win off 67 balls with 5-wickets in hand. But a run later, Karthik who was batting on 44, given out LBW but he was too disappointed with the decision and he too was right the ball again missed the leg stump. Just like Dhoni, he too had to take a long back to the dressing room. At the end of the innings, India could only manage to deny the loss but they could also not win as the match ended up with tie.## Rahul who took the review which turned out to be the turning point of the match, rues on himself and felt that if he had not taken the review, India could have won the match, "It's very tricky when you have just one review with you. Obviously, looking back at it, I felt like I shouldn't have taken the review but at that time, in the middle, I felt like maybe I was struck outside and I wanted to take that chance," Rahul said at the post-match press conference.## "Sometimes you can sit back here and review the review you took. We learn with it. The shot I played, the review that I took, I'll have to go back and maybe if it happens again I'll be in a better position to know. I don't think we crumbled. When the ball starts slowing and spinning like that, it is hard for middle order batsmen to come in and get the runs going. I think DK (Dinesh Karthik) played really well and in the end, Jadeja and Deepak put up a decent fight," he added.## For Dhoni who was standing his probably the last ODI as captain, could have been a happy ending to captaincy career. However, India rested their regular players before the big final on 28th September (against the winner of Pakistan-Bangladesh match), and gave a chance to their bench strength on perhaps the toughest condition to bat of the tournament.## For Afghanistan, it was a happy ending to their Asia Cup campaign. Though they could not make it to the final they impressed everyone with their performance. India may have lost the first Test against England in Edgbaston, Birmingham but limited overs wicketkeeper-batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni feels that India will bounce back strongly in upcoming matches.## In the first Test match, it was India's batting that let the team down. However, skipper Virat Kohli looked in sublime touch and scored 149 & 51 and he took India very close to win but couldn't get over the line. On the other hand, bowlers did a very good job for India and bowled out England in both the innings. Therefore, Dhoni feels that India can compete in five-match series.## "To win a Test match you need 20 wickets. And we did that. That's all I will say. It doesn't matter how well you bat and how well you are there for five days but if you take 20 wickets, you can win a Test match," he said at an event in Mumbai.## Despite the loss, Kohli stood out as alone warrior and almost won the game for his side. The former captain Dhoni was all praise for Kohli when he was asked about him climbing at the top of ICC's individual ranking list.## "Virat is the best. He has reached a status where he is close to legend status. I am very happy for him. The way he has batted everywhere and the last few years he has been brilliant taking the team forward. That's what you want from a leader. All the best to him and very well done," he said.## Keep in mind, Virat Kohli is the first batsman since Sachin Tendulkar after 2011 and overall seventh Indian to reach on the top of the ICC Test batting rankings. Wicketkeeper-batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni became 4th Indian player after Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and Rahul Dravid and 12th overall to score 10,000 runs in one-day internationals. He touched this rare feat in the second ODI against England at The Lord's, London on Saturday, July 14.## Dhoni had needed 33 runs to complete 10,000 runs in the match against England. However, he failed to take India home as India lost the match while chasing 323. He has scored 37 off 59 balls as India could score only 236 for 10 in 50 overs and lost the match by 86 runs. with this win, England has leveled the series to 1-1 with one more match to play which will be played on July 17 at Headingley, Leeds.## This was Dhoni's 320th ODI match in which he has scored 10,004 runs with a staggering average of 51.3 and strike rate of 88.27. He has scored 10 centuries and 67 half centuries in 273 innings he has played. His highest score of 183* came against Sri Lanka at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur in 2005.## Apart from one-day internationals, Dhoni has played 90 Tests and 93 T20Is in which he has scored 4876 and 1487 runs respectively. Mahendra Singh Dhoni - well known as 'Mahi' and one of the biggest superstars in world cricket is celebrating his 37th birthday today.## MS Dhoni was born on 7 July 1981 in Ranchi, Bihar (Now in Jharkhand). He made his debut in one-day international cricket in December 2004 against Bangladesh but it was unfortunate for him as he got run out without scoring a single run.## Dhoni came in limelight in his fifth match in which he had scored 148 off 123 balls in Visakhapatnam against arch rivals Pakistan. He suddenly became hero of the nation.## In bilateral series against Sri Lanka in 2005, Dhoni scored 183* off 145 balls and registered highest score ever made by any wicket keeper batsman. He never looked back after that and became well known face of Indian cricket.## Start Of 'Dhoni' Era## India was kicked out in group stage after disappointing performance in World Cup 2007 under captaincy of Rahul Dravid. Suddenly all the players became 'Zero' from hero. Is there any better wicketkeeper-batsman than England's Jos Buttler at this moment in the world?. Well Australian stand-in skipper Tim Paine don't think so.## After humiliating 5-0 lose to England, Australia's stand-in skipper said that it is a hard time for Australian cricket.
