Mumbai, July 22 - After recently becoming the first animated film franchise to reach $5 billion globally, the sixth overall instalment in the Despicable Me franchise, Despicable Me 4 has surpassed $500 million at the worldwide box office and is heading towards the magical milestone of $1 billion. ## The sequel to Despicable Me 3 (2017), and the fourth main instalment, Despicable Me 4 grossed $75 million worldwide in its 5th weekend which soared its global cume to $574.4 million (4805 crores). This includes $259.5 million (2170 crores) in North America and $314.90 million (2635 crores) overseas. ## Despicable Me 4 has now overtaken the first Despicable Me’s lifetime global haul of $544 million, to become the franchise's fifth-biggest instalment. Box Office: 'Twisters' Scores Record Opening For A Natural Disaster Movie

Los Angeles, July 20 - Universal Pictures' Twisters, starring Glen Powell, is set to overcome the industry projection to score the record opening for a natural disaster film at the domestic (North American) box office. ## The movie, directed by Lee Isaac Chung, scored an estimated $80.50 million (675 crores) in the opening weekend, the third biggest of the year. With this, it has become the top opening domestically for a natural disaster film, beating the 2004 movie The Day After Tomorrow's $66.70 million (not adjusted for inflation). ## Twisters was projected to take the domestic opening of around $50 million. It is a standalone sequel to the 1996 film Twister which bowed to $41 million 3-day domestic opening weekend. The sequel has scored almost 2X the opening of its predecessor. ## According to The Hollywood Reporter, Twisters is playing evenly among females and males, as well as appealing to both younger and older adults in what could lead to a new franchise. Russo Brothers In Talks To Direct Next Two Avengers Movies

Mumbai, July 18 - In a massive but pleasant surprise, Joe and Anthony Russo, famously known as the Russo brothers, are in talks to return to the MCU to helm the next two Avengers movies, according to the report by The Hollywood Reporter.## It is to be noted that Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director Destin Daniel Cretton was originally set to direct Avengers 5 but he backed out last year after the movie faced major hurdles due to the controversy surrounding actor Jonathan Majors who was to play the centre role as the main villain, Kang.## Marvel Studios has been searching for directors to oversee the fifth and sixth Avengers movies for a long time. The studio had earlier reportedly reached out to Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy for the fifth Avengers movie, but he had turned the offer down in the past. ## The talks with the Russo Brothers are in the early stages and if they agree, it will mark a homecoming for the director duo who once was the biggest IP of Marvel. They have directed four of Marvel's biggest movies, Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), followed by Captain America: Civil War (2016), Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). ## The four Marvel movies directed by Russos generated a combined gross of $6.68+ billion, including Endgame ($2.79 billion) as the second highest-grossing movie ever at the worldwide box office behind only James Cameron's Avatar with $2.92 billion. ## Meanwhile, the fifth Avengers movie, scheduled to be released on 1 May 2026, was originally titled Avengers: Kang Dynasty and was to star Jonathan Majors as time-traveling villain Kang. Mumbai, July 4 - Marvel Studios' highly-anticipated superhero movie Deadpool and Wolverine hits three weeks box office projections which indicate the record-breaking opening for the movie, not only of the year but also for an R-rated title ever. ## According to Deadline (which quoted three-week-in-advance box office tracking services), Deadpool 3 is tracking to open, at least, $160 million - $165 million in its three-day opening weekend (July 26-28) at the North American box office. It will be the biggest start of the year, beating Inside Out 2 ($154.2 million). ## The $160 million - $165 million opening projections could be conservative as a tracking report from tracking service Quorum, projected $200+ million start, and per Deadline, the agency is still sticking to its numbers. Even if Deadpool & Wolverine isn't as sharp as that projection, it's still bound for a fantastic start. ## As said, Deadpool 3 is aiming at the biggest R-rated debut domestically, given the projection stands. Warner Bros. Sets Release Dates For 'Dune' Director Denis Villeneuve's Next and 'Godzilla and Kong 3'

Los Angeles, June 29 - Warner Bros. Pictures has set a holiday release for the Dune director, Denis Villeneuve's next feature, described as an "event film". The studio announced that it will hit screens on December 18, 2026, and be produced by Legendary Pictures.## Villeneuve last directed, Dune: Part 2 which was a mega hit. The details about the filmmaker's next have not been revealed yet but it was recently reported that that he was working on a nuclear war and that Dune 3 would not be his immediate next. ## Even though the filmmaker stated that he would not touch Dune anytime soon, The Hollywood Reporter reports that Villeneuve may have had a change of heart and could be turning his attention back to finishing this sci-fi adventure franchise, before taking up the nuclear war movie. ## Dune 2, released in March this year, was a mega box office hit with $711 million worldwide against a budget of $190 million. It is currently the second highest-grossing movie of 2024 worldwide, behind Inside Out 2. The first Dune movie was released during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2021 and grossed $407 million globally while simultaneously having a day and date release on streaming. ## Warner Bros. Pictures has also announced the release date of the Legendary's next MonsterVerse film. 'Captain America: Brave New World' To Be The Most Expensive Marvel Movie?

Mumbai, June 28 - Marvel Studios' Captain America: Brave New World is getting expensive and if reports are to be believed, it could end up being the costliest Marvel movie ever. It is intended to be the fourth instalment in the Captain America film series and stars Anthony Mackie as the new Captain America. ## According to the report by World of Reel, Captain America 4 initially had a budget of $275 million and was supposed to wrapped filming in 2023 itself. However, the movie went into reshoots after the unsatisfactory output and this has reportedly increased the budget by $75 million - $100 million to make it a $350+ million budgeted blockbuster, in the line of Age of Ultron's $365 million budget (unadjusted for inflation). ## If the rumours budget is true, it will be a massive task for Marvel and Disney to bring the audience to theatres in the numbers they used to before as there is no Chris Evans as Captain America this time even though the brand Marvel is still expected to pull things to some extent. ## There is no official synopsis as of now but Captain America 4 is confirmed to be the continuation of the Disney Plus series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021) starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, among others. First MCU Actor Confirmed For 'Avengers 5'

Mumbai, June 16 - Hollywood almost sealed its first $1 billion grosser of the year after Disney/Pixar's animated coming-of-age film Inside Out 2 pulled off almost $300 million in its global opening weekend, smashing industry's projection by a long margin. ## Directed by Kelsey Mann, Inside Out 2 scored a mighty $294.2 million (2455 crores) opening weekend at the worldwide box office, pulling off the biggest opening of 2024 beating Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire ($195 million). The final collection of the movie may vary when actuals come tomorrow.## At the domestic (North America), the film grossed a huge $154.2 million (1290 crores), the second-biggest 3-day opening weekend of all-time for an animated movie, behind only Incredibles 2 ($183 million), and the biggest for Hollywood since Margot Robbie's Barbie ($162 million) last year.## Overseas, Inside Out 2 opened in 38 markets this weekend and scored a massive $140 million (1165 crores). For Disney, the global opening of $294+ million is the biggest since Avatar: The Way of Water ($441 million) in 2022. Mexico was the biggest market for the movie outside North America with $30 million, followed by Korea with $15 million and the UK with $14 million. In India, the movie minted approximately 9 crores ($1.07 million). ## The sequel to Inside Out (2015) did unthinkable to beat the projection as the box office hadn't been at its best this year for Hollywood. Los Angeles, June 14 - Marvel Studios' Deadpool & Wolverine is about to storm the box office and bring the studio back to old glory as the early box office projection of the third Deadpool movie revealed a monstrous start. ## According to Deadline, which quoted The Quorum's projection, Deadpool 3 is looking to open $200 million - $239 million at the domestic (North America) opening weekend. The tracking service is projecting these figures as conservative. ## Deadpool 3 is the first ever R-rated movie to be released by Disney. As said, there has never been an R-rated movie to open over $200 million, so it would be a monumental achievement for the threequel if it manages to do that. ## The current record for an R-rated opening at the North American box office is owned by the original Deadpool which scored $132.4 million in February 2016. 'Furiosa - A Mad Max Saga' First Weekend Box Office Collection In India And Worldwide

Mumbai, May 27 - Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures' post-apocalyptic action adventure film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga has had a soft opening weekend at the worldwide box office, despite the glowing critics reviews and positive audience reception. ## The $160 million budgeted epic was expected to have a winning start but it only managed to score $59 million (490 crores) worldwide, including $25.6 million (212 crores) in North America and (278 crores) at the overseas box office. The weekend collection came lower than the conservative projection. ## South Korea was the biggest overseas market for Furiosa with $4.5 million, followed by France ($2.6 million), the UK ($2.5 million), Mexico ($2.4 million), and Australia ($2.2 million). In India, the movie has an average opening of approximately 11 crores ($1.32 million) over the 4-day weekend.## India's was the 7th biggest overseas market of the movie despite the soft opening. The scorching summer heat has had a major impact on the footfalls in cinemas.
