The first-week theatrical run of the much-anticipated dark comedy Mask, starring the rising star Kavin, has concluded. Despite the high expectations surrounding the collaboration with producer Vetrimaaran, the film has witnessed a lukewarm response at the ticket windows, struggling to convert initial curiosity into sustained footfalls. The film opened with decent numbers on Friday but failed to see the exponential weekend growth typically associated with Kavin’s recent films. A significant dip on Monday (-46.43%) sealed its fate as an average grosser. Wrapping up its first week, Mask faces a challenging path toward profitability. Against a reported budget of ₹20 Crores, the film has grossed approximately ₹7.15 Crores worldwide (comprising ₹6.5 Cr domestic gross and a modest ₹0.65 Cr from overseas markets). Currently, the film has recovered only about 35% of its production cost through theatrical returns. While the run is not yet over, the box office trend suggests a Below Average performance so far. Unless the film witnesses a surprising turnaround in its second week, it will likely have to rely heavily on its digital and satellite rights to break even.
