Hyderabad, October 4 - The rising Telugu actor Teja Sajja continued his winning streak at the box office with the sci-fi action-adventure film Mirai, after the big blockbuster success of Hanuman last year. The movie is now gearing up for its much-awaited digital release. As per the latest update, Mirai will start streaming on JioHotstar from October 10, 2025, in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Tamil languages. However, Hindi audiences will have to wait a little longer, as the dubbed version is slated to premiere only after completing eight weeks of its theatrical run. Mirai will have the extended theatrical window. Normally, South Indian films start streaming after 4 weeks of the theatrical release, but here, Mirai will have an extra week to perform at the box office, as the OTT window for this movie is 5 weeks, which is a good change. The big-screen release of Mirai created solid buzz across India and overseas, turning into one of the Telugu cinema's biggest grossers of the year. So far, the film has amassed an impressive 142 crore worldwide gross, with 109 crore coming from the Indian box office alone. The OTT release will give fans another chance to revisit the visual extravaganza and also open the film to new audiences who missed it in theatres. Mumbai, October 3 - South Indian cinema continues to make a mark at the Hindi box office, and the latest to enter the race is Rishab Shetty's Kantara Chapter 1, which has taken a good start in the dubbed version, scoring 18.50 crore opening day. Among the top 10 biggest South Indian openers at the Hindi box office, Kantara 2 has secured the 8th spot. At the very top of the list is Allu Arjun's Pan India phenomenon, Pushpa 2: The Rule, which rewrote box office history with a mammoth 70 crore opening day in Hindi, which is a record. This number is far ahead of every other South release and firmly establishes Pushpa 2 as a true pan-India monster. Kannada superstar Yash's KGF Chapter 2 follows next with 54 crore net opening, a record that held strong until Pushpa 2 arrived. SS Rajamouli's epic blockbuster Baahubali 2: The Conclusion sits at number 3 with 41 crores net. It is worth noting that it was the Baahubali franchise, which originally opened the floodgates for South dominance in Hindi belts. Prabhas, easily the biggest South Indian star in the Hindi market, makes multiple entries in the top 10, with Saaho making it to the top 5, followed by his Kalki 2898 AD. Rajamouli's RRR, along with superstar Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar's sci-fi extravaganza 2.0, also entered the list with solid openings. Breaking into this power-packed list at No. 8, Kantara Chapter 1, which is the second Kannada movie in this coveted list. Unlike mass-heavy commercial entertainers like KGF or Pushpa, Kantara thrives on its unique storytelling, cultural rootedness, and mysticism, yet still managed to draw audiences in large numbers on day one. Hyderabad, October 3 - Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja's Mass Jathara has confirmed its release date. Directed by Bhanu Bhogavarapu, the much-awaited action drama will be hitting the worldwide theatres on October 31st, after facing multiple delays. The makers officially announced the new release date on October 1st with a new poster and fun promo. Mass Jathara, however, won't be a solo release as it will be up against SS Rajamouli's Baahubali - The Epic, which is a single-part film of the director's duology. Starring Prabhas in the lead role, Baahubali - The Epic could be a big challenge for Mass Jathara, despite everyone knowing what the story is about. Bengaluru, October 3 - The prequel to Kantara, titled Kantara: A Legend - Chapter has opened to massive numbers at the worldwide box office. Back in 2022, the original movie took the modest start of 2.80 crores worldwide, but it did enough to set the stage for Chapter 1, which has opened to at least 30x the collection. Written, directed, and headline by Rishab Shetty, Kantara Chapter 1 carried solid buzz, though the initial advance booking reception was not that strong before it picked up well on the last day before the release. To boost the buzz, the makers limited paid premieres, which received a solid response. On its release day, the film started behaving like a true Pan-India blockbuster with a fantastic response across the country in every language it was released. As a result, the film has had a big opening day collection in India with an estimated 75 crores gross, including paid premieres. The opening of Kantara 2 is by far the second biggest for a Kannada film after Yash-fronted KGF: Chapter 2, which took the domestic opening of 134.50 crores gross in 2022. The advance booking, which picked up well on the last day, indicated a 13-15 crores net start, but the movie has exceeded those expectations after a solid response in walk-ins. According to early estimates, the Kantara prequel is heading for a 19-21 crores net opening in the dubbed Hindi version, which can go higher depending on the single screens. The Dussehra and Gandhi Jayanti holidays have propelled spot bookings, aided by positive reviews. Kantara 2 has easily taken the second-largest opening ever for a Kannada film in Hindi, after KGF Chapter 2, which exploded in 2022 with almost 54 crores net. Kochi, October 2 - One of the most-awaited Malayalam movies in the making, featuring the Big M's of Indian cinema, Mohanlal and Mammootty, has officially been titled as Patriot. The mega movie also stars Nayanthara, Fahadh Faasil, Kunchacko Boban, and Revathi in key roles. Directed by Mahesh Narayanan, the title teaser of Patriot was launched on October 2nd, on the occasion of Dussehra. The 1-minute and 21-second-long teaser promises an action-packed espionage thriller. The promo leaves many hints, as it doesn't reveal much about the plot. Meanwhile, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan shared the teaser of Patriot on his Instagram stories. There have been reports that he would be teaming up with Mahesh Narayan for an action thriller film, and the latest development hints at the same. Produced by Anto Joseph Productions, the film will be released in multiple Indian languages, including Malayalam, Telugu, Hindi, and Tamil, languages. Chennai, October 2 - Tamil star Dhanush's action drama film Idly Kadai has taken a good start at the Indian box office, grossing approximately 13 crores. Unlike the previous few films, it has been the least hyped movie of Dhanush in recent times, yet it has managed to make a mark at the box office. Directed by Dhanush himself, Idli Kadai has become the biggest opener for the actor in the home state, Tamil Nadu, collecting approximately 10.75 crores gross. It has beaten Raayan, which scored 10.60 crores gross in the state on its first day last year. Idli Kadai was released amid low hype, but it got the holiday advantage, which propelled its opening to double digits and beyond, eventually creating a record for Dhanush in the state. Apart from Tamil Nadu, the movie minted approximately 1.25 crores in Karnataka and another 1 crore in the rest of India markets. The reception for the film is contrasting. While Tamil critics praised the film, reviews were opposite outside the home market.
