Rohit Sharma Should be The Indian T20 Captain: Michael Vaughan

Former England captain, Michael Vaughan has applauded Rohit Sharma after the Mumbai Indians' skipper led his side to record 5th Indian Premier League title win on Tuesday (November 10) night when the team beat Delhi Capitals by five wickets in the final of IPL 2020 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. ## Riding on Rohit's 51-ball 68 runs innings, Mumbai chased down a target of 157 runs. The all-round performance from the team members led them to become the most successful franchise of the T20 tournament with five IPL titles in their kitty now. It was Rohit's 6th IPL title as a player. ## Appreciating the vice-captain of the Indian team, Vaughan took to Twitter and backed Rohit Sharma for Indian T20 captaincy, "Without question, Rohit Sharma should be the Indian T20 captain .. fantastic man manager & leader .. & he knows exactly how to win T20 games .. it would also give Virat chance to take a breather and just be the player .. it's works for all other teams around the world ..#IPL2020", he tweeted. ## Without question Rohit Sharma should be the Indian T20 captain .. fantastic man manager & leader .. & he knows exactly how to win T20 games .. it would also give Virat chance to take a breather and just be the player .. it’s works for all other teams around the world ..#IPL2020— Michael Vaughan (@MichaelVaughan) November 10, 2020 ## Speaking to Cricbuzz Live, Vaughan said, "I believe India would be a better T20 team with Rohit Sharma as captain". Giving the reason behind his choice of Rohit as T20 captain, he said that Rohit Sharma as T20I captain will ease pressure from Virat Kohli and will allow him to play more as a player and focus on ODI and Test leadership. ## The Rohit Sharma-led side remained the most successful team in the season with 10 wins from 15 games they played in the 56-day long contest. MI is now the only second team after Chennai Super Kings to successfully defend the title. Dhoni's CSK had done it in IPL 2010 and 2011 while now MI has done it in 2019 and now 2020. ## Successfully breaking the jinx of winning the titles only in odd years, the Mumbai side has now clinched the title in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020 under Rohit's leadership.## Also Read - Virat Kohli To Return India After The First Test Against Australia; Rohit Sharma Included In Test Squad ## Stay tuned...

'He Just Keeps Getting Better', Mumbai Indians' Stand-In Skipper Kieron Pollard Lauds Suryakumar Yadav For His Match Winning Knock

A day after BCCI selectors didn't select Suryakumar Yadav for the Australia tour, the Mumbai Indians' number 3 batsman sent out a strong message to the selectors by playing a match-winning knock of unbeaten 79 off just 43 balls against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Wednesday (October 28). ## Kieron Pollard, the MI's stand-in skipper, has lauded Surya for his brilliant knock and also encouraged him to stay consistent.## "Imagine someone batting at that strike rate after two early wickets. Deep down inside he must be very very disappointed to not have donned the blue for India. He just keeps getting better. Again as an individual if you keep staying consistent, you will be rewarded. Nothing happens before its time", said Pollard in the post-match presentation ceremony.## Pollard triggered RCB`s collapse 131/3 to 139/6 between the 16th and 18th overs with the wicket of AB de Villiers, who looked set for a trademark swashbuckling inning.## "I am big on match-ups in a way. I also watch a lot of cricket. I took a punt and bowled at AB. I could have waited for the last over but if someone has to go for runs I thought I`d take it".## After a 5-wicket win over RCB, MI has 16 points from 12 matches and is ranked number 1 in the points table. While RCB stands at number 2 with 14 points in 12 matches. ## Stay tuned...

The Opening Dream 11 IPL 2020 Match Between CSK And MI Sets New Viewership Record In The World

The Dream 11 Indian Premier League was kicked start on September 19 as Chennai Super Kings took on Mumbai Indians. The MS Dhoni-led CSK emereged as victorious as three times champions defeated defending champions by 5 wickets in a thrilling finish. ## Since the IPL 2020 is being played without crowd due to the covid-19 pandemic, it was expected that that crowds will watch the tournament on television and broadcasters were also assuming the highest rating of IPL this season. ## And now, the viewership result of the opening match between CSK and MI is probably higher than what broadcasters were hoping for.## As per the Broadcast Audience Research Council (BARC) report, an unprecedented 200 million people tuned in to watch the tournament opener which is the highest ever opening day viewership for any sporting league in any country. ## The BCCI Secretary Jay Shah took to his official Twitter handle and shared the viewership record which includes the viewership both on Star Sports India and Disney+Hostart VIP. ## Total viewership on @StarSportsIndia and @DisneyPlusHS.@starindia @ThakurArunS @BCCI— Jay Shah (@JayShah) September 22, 2020 ## The IPL is one of the most watched sports tournaments in the world while it is most watched cricket league in the world. MS Dhoni Teases Match Referee Manu Nayyar On Social Distancing Norms; Sam Curran Surprised By Dhoni's Move

After a long hurdle, the 13th season of the much-awaited Dream 11 Indian Premier League was kicked-off yesterday with Chennai Super Kings took on Mumbai Indians at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.## Despite being played in completely different circumstances, the tournament opener was nothing sort of a thriller just like the previous CSK vs MI matches as the 3-times champions Chennai defeated the defending champions Mumbai Indians by 5-wickets with just 4 balls to spare. ## However, one of the moments of the day came just before the start of the play when the Chennai skipper brought out his humorous one-liner against the Match Referee Manu Nayyar. The skipper also applauded his team members for keeping themselves fit during the quarantine period in the UAE. ## "Wanted to know if we can have a slip (considering the social distancing norms under the current circumstances)", Dhoni said at the Toss. "Have the liberty during lockdown to spend time on yourself to keep fit. Have to applaud every member of the squad. The first six days in quarantine is very difficult. Felt each individual used that time well and nobody was disappointed or frustrated", he added. ## Another moment came during the match which proved to be a turning point. Sam Curran, who was picked ahead of Dwayne Bravo for the match and played a match-turning cameo of 18 runs off 6 balls which proved as crucial as Ambati Rayudu and Faf du Plessis's fifties in CSK's win. ## However, it was surprised move by MS Dhoni to send Curran ahead of him, as described by Curran after the match. "To be honest, I was very surprised when Jadeja got out for me to go ahead of MS Dhoni. It was a big shock to me but he (Dhoni) is a genius and thought something (about sending me before himself). The plan was obviously to go out there, have a go at them if it comes off", Curran said after the match. ## ICYMI, it was MS Dhoni's first match after the semi-final of the World Cup, 2019 against New Zealand which was on the 9th of July 2019. He had also announced his retirement from international cricket recently. ## Stay tuned...

"Ricky Ponting knows how to bring out the best in someone, he is from another planet", says Rohit Sharma

An opening batsman and the limited-overs vice-captain, Rohit Sharma recalled the time when he got to share the dressing room with former Australian captain, Ricky Ponting, and heap praised the two-time world cup winning captain for his influence on the players as player and coach. In a live chat session on Instagram with spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, Rohit talked about the various things including his stint with Mumbai Indians.## "I feel Ponting is a guy from another planet. He knows how to bring out the best in someone. He has won two World Cups for Australia. So he knows how to win Championships," Rohit told Ashwin.## In IPL 2012, Sachin Tendulkar stepped down from MI's captaincy and Harbhajan Singh was made the captain before he too stepped down in 2013. That time, Rohit felt that he would be the next captain but then Ricky Ponting was bought in the auction.## "In 2013, we got Ricky Ponting in the auction. In 2012 Sachin paaji said that he would not lead Mumbai Indians and Bhajju paa (Harbhajan Singh) was made the skipper. But in 2013, I don't know why Bhajju paa wasn't the captain. And I thought I will be made the captain, but then Ponting was bought in the auction," said Rohit.## "Ponting was the first one to arrive in India for the 2013 season. He wanted to understand everyone. He said that he wanted to have a team bonding session first. In a way, it made a very positive impact on everyone. Ponting really motivated the younger guys," he added.## When Ponting was bought by Mumbai Indians in the auction, he was given captaincy instantly. However, he gave up captaincy after the first six matches in IPL 2013 as he couldn't perform well in those matches. That was the time when Rohit Sharma was handed over MI's leadership before MI won 4 IPL titles under his captaincy.## "But then he was not scoring runs, he decided to step down as the skipper, but eventually Ponting called me and I was given the captaincy. Ponting actually was player-cum-coach during the 2013 season. He was always there to help me," Rohit said.## Rohit Sharma also talked about how his life has changed since the arrival of his baby girl Samaira who he considers his lucky charm. The right-handed also revealed why he has given up on eating the famous street food of Mumbai. ## "I've been out a couple of times, gone to that famous place near Chowpatty. One of the best pav bhaajis you will get there. Now I've got a little one in the house, probably sleeping at that point so there is no chance of going and eating pav bhaajis after midnight," he said. ## Once Virat Kohli had said that Rohit Sharma is one of the laziest people in the team. Now, Rohit has confessed his love for sleeping and said he needs at least 9-10 hours of sleep. ## "It's true that I've never made it to the breakfast table in IPL history, also because of other reasons as it gets very late after matches. I need my 9-10 hours of sleep, that is a must. Since Samaira was born, I used to sleep with her. I somehow managed to sleep with her and wake up with her. Because once she's up your not going to get your sleep," Rohit said.## Stay tuned...
