Nate Diaz is all set to face off against Tony Ferguson in the UFC 279 main event after his previously scheduled opponent, Khamzat Chimaev, missed weight by seven-and-a-half pounds Friday morning. ## Nate Diaz Vs. Tony Ferguson will take place on September 10, 2022, at the T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada, part of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Area, United States. ## UFC 279 Results: Nate Diaz Vs. Tony Ferguson Full Fight ## First Round: Diaz comes out with a slap, but Ferguson quickly brushes her back. There is no feeling-out process here. The action calms down and Diaz is happy to let the younger Ferguson lead the way. The checked kick left Ferguson bleeding profusely from the cut in his left leg. ## Ferguson mimics Diaz's side stance and starts to laugh. Ferguson with a couple of leg kicks. Ferguson snaps his right hand through Diaz's defense. Diaz follows and Ferguson clips him with a jab. Diaz is throwing that jab with confidence. Ferguson defends against a combination. Ferguson now looks loose and re-lands his right hand. ## Diaz from straight left. Ferguson catches a leg and scores from the right. As Diaz moves forward, he hits an inside leg kick. Diaz is going headhunting now. Ferguson is having trouble with his right eye being amputated. Ninety seconds left and Diaz begins to turn it on again.Overhand left by Diaz. Diaz scores with a combination. Ferguson wants to stay in the pocket, but Diaz circling and using his range. ## Round 3: Ferguson tries to support Diaz with kicks, but Diaz continues to lean forward looking for punches. A hard Diaz reaction is found inside the leg kick. He turns away and Ferguson stands in the middle of the octagon, pointing at an imaginary clock. He flops on his back while taunting Diaz. Goddard tells Diaz to return to the center and continue the fight. ## Diaz hits Ferguson with a hard leg kick. Diaz smiles and breathes against the cage. It got real weird real fast. Over leg kick from Ferguson. Ferguson procrastinates. Diaz turns to Ferguson and starts yelling at someone on the side of the cage. ## Diaz getting damaged with a body kick. He bows down and invites Ferguson to attack him. Ferguson didn't look as relaxed as he did a few minutes ago. A jab lands for Ferguson. Diaz throws over the head and it's another strong ending for him, albeit an incredibly awkward round. ## Round 4: Ferguson goes back into the body with a kick. He dives for an ankle pick and Diaz just steps away from it. Body kicks by Diaz in the front. Ferguson finds success with a jab and he chases down with an inside leg kick. Before he runs out, Ferguson punches the shovel off the ground. ## At the right signal, Diaz connects with a hard shot and Ferguson has to back down. Several punches land for Diaz. Ferguson is just fighting to stay away from the cage. He hit Diaz on the body with a left hook. Diaz punches Ferguson in the body, then goes back to the head. A welterweight sneed between Leon Edwards and formerly chucks UFC Lightweight Championship challenger Nate Diaz (also The Ultimate Fighter 5 lightweight winner) goes down at UFC 263. ## The Fight marks the first time in UFC history that a non-title bout other than the main event has been scheduled for five rounds. ## 1st Round: The first round of Leon Edwards vs. Nate Diaz kicks off...A couple of seconds, but nothing big comes up. A beautiful leg kick from Edwards followed by one more. Three low leg kicks landed for Edwards, Nate Diaz lands a low inside leg kick followed by a Front kick. ## Nate Diaz lands a body shot followed by a good shot as he touts in the middle. Edwards follows up a clinch and then gets Nate Diaz's back for a Takedown. Nate Diaz gets through punches to be out of the hold, Edwards was still grabbing the back, Nate Diaz goes for a scramble followed by a good left to be back on his feet as the round ends. ## Second Round: 10-9 Edwards after 1, leg kicks have been the big part for Edwards to advance in the fight. Nate Diaz with some fun out there, meanwhile, Edwards with another leg kick as he does. Nate Diaz follows up Inside low leg kick. ## An interesting approach as both go for a heavy exchange, Edwards goes for another Takedown, A beautiful job gets Nate Diaz back to his feet. Edwards stuns Nate Diaz with one right followed by a good left hook from Nate Diaz. A big connection there for Nate Diaz, while Edwards is all focused on landing those low leg kicks. A big left hook by Edwards as Nate Diaz staggered. ## Nate Diaz is still standing after eating that massive straight and low leg kicks, Nate Diaz closes the distance but gets a left hook from Edwards. This time Nate Diaz works on some punches followed by a clinch against the fence. ## Fifth Round: The final round opens up, Edwards gets Nate Diaz down. However, Nate Diaz gets up immediately. Nate Diaz holds up the clinch against the fence, both back to the middle, Edwards was completely dominating the fight, potentially he got all the rounds in the lead. Watch Masvidal's top finishes from his UFC career so far before he takes on Kamaru Usman at UFC 261. ## Jorge Masvidal's first finish came against Michael Chiesa on July 27, 2013, at UFC on Fox 8. Masvidal took control in the second round and won via submission. ## Masvidal then faced Cezar Ferreira in a welterweight bout on July 12, 2015, at The Ultimate Fighter 21 Finale. He won the fight via knockout in the first round.
