IMDb Unveils Top 10 Most Popular Indian Theatrical Movies of 2023

Mumbai, November 30 - IMDb has unveiled the list of the top 10 most popular Indian theatrical movies of 2023 so far and once again it is dominated by Bollywood titles. The list is determined by page views on IMDb by fans. ## Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan and Pathaan are the first two most popular Indian movies of the year, respectively. Both movies grossed over 2100 crores at the global box office and are currently the top two highest-grossing Indian movies of the year. Interestingly, SRK is also the most popular Indian star of the year, as per IMDb rankings. ## Karan Johar's directorial return, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, is the third most popular Indian movie of the year so far. The film was a box office success with a worldwide gross collection of over 350 crores.## Thalapathy Vijay's action entertainer Leo takes the 4th spot in the most popular movies list. 'Animal' and 'Sam Bahadur' To Repeat 'Oh My Gadar 2' Success At The Box Office?

Mumbai, November 26 - The Hindi box office showed its potential when Sunny Deol's "Gadar 2" and Akshay Kumar's "OMG 2" combined grossed approximately 800 crores in India after getting a same-day and date release, on August 11, 2023. This was the highest combined total of two Bollywood movies that were released on the same day.## In Gadar 2 and OMG 2 clash, fondly called "Oh My Gadar 2", the former created records by becoming the highest net-grosser ever in Hindi before the record was broken by Shah Rukh Khan's "Jawan". The Akshay Kumar-starrer sequel too had a big success despite the clash and emerged as much needed hit for the actor. ## Almost three months later, Bollywood is again in the same position when two much-awaited films, Ranbir Kapoor-led Animal, and Vicky Kaushal-starrer Sam Bahadur are releasing on the same day, December 1st. The initial indications suggest that both movies may have success at the box office despite competing against each other, just like "Oh My Gadar 2". ## The advance booking of both films opened yesterday and the initial trend indicates Animal going Gadar 2 way while Sam Bahadur repeating OMG 2. In the Independence Day weekend clash, G2 was the leader in the advances since day 1 while OMG 2 was the second choice and the same is very much expected in the upcoming clash as well. ## It may not be possible for "Animal" to beat the numbers of "Gadar 2" due to the film's adult rating and lengthy runtime but it can still top 400 crores net if the word of mouth is positive. "Sam Bahadur", on the other hand, is likely to play like "OMG 2" and maybe go on to beat its numbers.## In a positive piece of news, both "Animal" and "Sam Bahadur" can play to their full potential for at least three weeks during which no other Hindi film is scheduled to release. The former has the added advantage of South India due to the Sandeep Reddy Vanga factor but there is Nani's "Hi Nanna" scheduled for a December 7 release which can give competition in Telugu. ## As said, if word of mouth is positive for both Hindi films, then "Animal" is expected to win the race while the "Sam Bahadur" team won't be disappointed either if the movie gets what it deserves. Sunny Deol Reveals He Requested Akshay Kumar To Avoid Box Office Clash Of Gadar 2 vs OMG 2

Mumbai, November 2 - Sunny Deol along with his brother Bobby Deol recently appeared on the second episode of Karan Johar's controversial chat show Koffee with Karan season 8. During the chat, Sunny Deol opened up about the box office clash between his "Gadar 2" and Akshay Kumar's "OMG 2". ## Both the aforementioned films were released on August 11 during the Independence Day weekend this year and Sunny, who hasn't had success in many years, revealed that he requested Akshay to avoid a clash as he wanted a solo release of his movie. ## When Karan Johar asked about the box office clash, the actor said that he wanted Akshay to release "OMG 2" on any other date if he had the power to do it, but Akshay denied saying it was the decision of the studio and he couldn't change that. ## Karan Johar then talked about the time when there was unity within the industry and everyone used to reach out to each other for everything. He then asked Sunny if he felt that his movie wasn't considered good enough, given that he had announced his film much earlier for the Independence Day release?## "It's a very emotional thing if you ask me, frankly, because I thought my film was releasing, and I haven't had success for donkey's years, and I didn't want anybody else to come along with it. Superhit 'OMG 2' Final Worldwide Box Office Collection and Records

Mumbai, October 26 - When things were going bad to worst, it was a sequel to a superhit movie that brought Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar, who used to be a box office guarantee a couple of years back, back in the game in the form of social comedy-drama OMG 2. ## Though Akshay Kumar only played an extended role the movie sold on his name and the brand value of the "OMG" franchise. "OMG 2" was released during the Independence Day weekend of 2023 and was up against a tsunami-like "Gadar 2", still, it managed a take a decent opening before word of mouth spread its magic. ## Directed by Amit Rai, the sequel minted over 72 crores net during its extended 5-day Independence Day weekend after taking the opening of over 10 crores. Box Office: OMG 2 Second Monday Early Estimates

Mumbai, August 21 - Akshay Kumar's social comedy-drama OMG 2 has a drop of around 70% today on its second Monday which is a bit higher but the overall collection remains decent considering various factors.## Directed by Amit Rai, OMG 2 scored an estimated 3.75 crores net collection on its second Monday/11th day. This takes the total collection to around 117.50 crores net to date. The trend in multiplex centers is strong while mass centers continue to perform low for the movie.## OMG 2 will reach around 125 crores net mark by the end of the second week. The movie will have additional competition in the coming weekend in the form of Dream Girl 2, however, it should be able to retain maximum screens, especially in multiplexes.## It will be interesting to see if OMG 2 can go near the 150 crores mark as that should be its target from now on. The jump today is at least 75% and can go up to 85% depending on the performance of the smaller centers.## The early estimates suggest a second Saturday collection of OMG 2 around 10.50-11 crores net and can go higher which remains to see. This takes the total collection to over 101.50 crores net in just 9 days, becoming the first Akshay Kumar-starrer since "Sooryavanshi" to enter the 100 crores net club.## The second weekend of OMG 2 is eyeing around 28-30 crores net which will be a fantastic hold with a drop of just 40% from the opening weekend. Producer Guild and Multiplex Association of India Acknowledged Historic Box Office Weekend (August 11-13) In India

Mumbai, August 14 - The Producers Guild of India and Multiplex Association of India have jointly issued a statement on the historic box office weekend of August 11 to August 13 in India which show collections topping 400 crores gross.## The statement read the August 11-13 weekend proved to be the all-time biggest single weekend in the 100+ years of Indian cinema history in terms of gross box office collection. The same weekend also drew 2.10+ crores in admissions in theaters, which is also the highest combined footfalls in the last 10-year history. ## Shibasish Sarkar, president of GUILD, said in the statement, "Mainstream storytelling executed in the right way has resulted in the box office records being shattered. The turnout at theaters has infused a new energy in our industry, audiences are responding in numbers we have not seen for a long time".## Kamal Gianchandani, president of MAI, added, "It was a historic weekend which proves once again that India loves going to cinemas to see great movies. This weekend is also an undeniable demonstration of cinemas being the ultimate place to be a part of a shared experience.
