'Spider-Man: No Way Home' To Be The First MCU Phase 4 Film To Release In China

Los Angeles, November 9 - Tom Holland's third Spider-Man flick, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" is set to be the first Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase Four film to get a release in the world's biggest movie market, China. While the official release date in China is yet to be set, a new Chinese poster of "No Way Home" indicated that it could soon hit Chinese screens. ## "Spider-Man: No Way Home" is looked at as the highest worldwide grosser film of the pandemic era. And with the news of China's release, it has consolidated its position to be a top-grossing film during the entire pandemic. Los Angeles, November 8 - Marvel is once again winning the battle at the box office despite the negative critics' reviews. The latest superhero offering, "Eternals", debuted with $71 million in the 3-day weekend at the domestic box office, though it fell short of fellow Marvel pics, "Black Widow" ($80.4M), and "Shang-Chi" ($75.4M). ## "Eternals" scored the 4th biggest opening weekend debut during the covid-19 pandemic era, edging "Fast & Furious 9" ($70M), and James Bond "No Time To Die" ($55.2M). "Venom: Let There Be Carnage", which was made by Sony Pictures but based on a Marvel comic creation, remains on the top spot with $90.1 million at the domestic opening weekend. ## Internationally, "Eternals" took the big opening of $90.7 million, bringing its global haul to an impressive $161.7 million. The superhero film is playing in several major markets including South Korea, the United Kingdom, France, Mexico, India, and Australia. ## Among the top overseas contributors, South Korea is leading with $14.4 million, followed by the United Kingdom ($7.1M), France ($6.7M), Mexico ($5.7M), and Australia ($5M). In India, the Marvel movie performed very well in the opening weekend, despite the two-way clash with Sooryavanshi and Annaatthe, and nabs estimated a gross total of ₹ 22.2 crores ($2.99M). ## Directed by Oscar winner, Chloe Zhao, "Eternals" is the lowest-rated Marvel film on Rotten Tomatoes with only 48% of reviews marked as positive. The latest superhero offering from the studio in its Phase four, "Eternals", which was released on November 5 on the occasion of Diwali, packs a solid punch at the Indian box office with Rs. 8.75 crores gross on the first day, despite the two-way clash with Bollywood's "Sooryavanshi" and Tamil biggie "Annaatthe". ## "Eternals", which is directed by Oscar-winner Chloé Zhao, had a promising advance booking with Rs. 2.48 crores for day 1. The superhero film, however, exceeded the expectations and scored huge at the box office. As compared to the recent Hollywood pic, Sony's "Venom: Let There Be Carnage", "Eternals" witnessed an astonishing growth of 150%. "Venom 2" had earned Rs. 2.95 crore net on day 1. ## Moreover, "Eternals" along with domestic blockbusters - Sooryavanshi and Annaatthe - gave a much-needed boost to the Indian exhibition sector, especially in the Hindi market. Rohit Shetty's "Sooryavanshi", which was held back for more than 18 months, was the top performer on the first day of its release as it created havoc at the box office. With an estimated total of Rs. 30 crores, it proved to be the biggest opening for Bollywood since the beginning of the pandemic. ## Rajinikanth's "Annaatthe", on the other hand, was released a day earlier and grossed Rs. 34.70 crores on its first day. On its second day, the action entertainer grossed approx. Marvel Studios' 'Eternals' Banned In Saudi Arabia, Qatar, And Kuwait Over LGBTQ Issues!

Mumbai, November 5 - Marvel Studios' next superhero offering, "Eternals" won't be released in theaters in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Qatar. While the reason behind the ban has not been revealed, a THR report suggests the decision was likely made over the inclusion of a same-sex couple in the film and the MCU's first gay superhero. ## "Eternals", which was due to release in Gulf on November 11, was asked the make some edits by the local censors, but Disney was not willing to make those edits and decided to pull the film from the said countries. In the United Arab Emirates, however, the film is still listed as among the titles coming soon.## Homosexuality is still officially illegal across the Gulf, and films containing anything related to LGBTQ issues are frequently pulled from release. Worldwide Box Office Projected To Reach $22B In 2021: Analysts

Mumbai, October 26 - The global box office has witnessed a sharp jump in the second half of 2021, especially from October onwards. Gower Street Analytics, which projected the worldwide box office at $20.2 billion in mid-September, has now revised its projection to be up by over $1 billion to $21.6B in 2021. ## The revised global box office projection came after the solid response to October titles including MGM/Eon/Universal's James Bond "No Time To Die" ($525M), Sony/Marvel's "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" ($352M), Warner Bros/Legendary's "Dune" ($223M), and China's "The Battle At Lake Changjin" ($830M). Gower Street further anticipates potential growth and that could take the global box office to around $22B in 2021.## Gower Street's $21.6B projection for the year 2021 is up by 80% from the pandemic hit 2020 but still is 49% behind 2019's global box office tally. The latest estimates, however, narrowed the gap from a previous projection of -52%.## The box office projection for the month of October has been increased to $3.2 billion from an original estimate of $2.5 billion. This would put October business just 4% behind the average of the three pre-pandemic years (2017-2019) for the month. No previous month in 2021 has performed better than 40% behind the three-year average.## Gower Street has projected China to contribute most with a 34% projection in 2021 while, overall, Asia Pacific (APAC) is projected to contribute 52% in the global box office. Domestic (North America) is projected to contribute 22% of the worldwide box office.
