Mumbai, October 17 - The year 2023 has been historic for Indian cinema, especially for Bollywood which shows a few massive blockbusters at the box office so far, and it is not yet done. The last quarter of the year has already begun and there are, at least, 6-7 huge films that will release over the next 2 and a half months. ## Among the most-awaited upcoming films in 2023, superstar Shah Rukh Khan and director Rajkumar Hirani's "Dunki" and superstar Prabhas' "Salaar" with director Prashanth Neel are slated to take on each other on December 22. This is the clash of the titans everyone is waiting for, including actor Prithviraj Sukumaran who is playing a prominent role in "Salaar". ## During a recent interview, Prithviraj Sukumaran said that Salaar Vs Dunki is a clash everyone should celebrate as both films are completely opposite to each other, headlined by two of the biggest stars in the country with the biggest of the directors, and on top of that, both the movies are coming during a big festive season like Christmas. ## "I am not quite sure about the promotional plans yet. The makers will let us know in November how they intend to roll out the film. I am in touch with Prashanth Neel, the director. Chennai, October 16 - The social media is buzzing after director Lokesh Kanagaraj confirmed his maiden collaboration with superstar Prabhas recently. There were no further details provided by the filmmaker other than confirming this blockbuster film, and this led to many speculations regarding the timeline of the movie. ## Lokesh Kanagaraj has been focussing on his ambitious cinematic universe (LCU), which started with Karthi's "Kaithi", followed by Kamal Haasan's "Vikram" and next is Thalapathy Vijay's "Leo", scheduled to release on October 19, 2023. Since the filmmaker is deeply concentrating on LCU, the rumours started making rounds that his movie with Prabhas will also be a part of LCU, and it will eventually conclude this saga.## In the latest promotional interview for "Leo", the director clarified all the rumours and said that his film with Prabhas will be a stand-alone with no connection to the LCU or any other film of his. Lokesh has also mentioned that "Vikram 2" with Kamal Haasan will remain the concluding chapter of the LCU. ## There is no confirmation yet on when Lokesh will start shooting for Prabhas' movie, but as things stand today, it is unlikely to commence before 2026. With 814 crores net collection, August is now the biggest single month ever at the Hindi box office. The following month, September is second best with 689 crores net, thanks to Jawan which became the biggest Bollywood grosser of all time.## The Bollywood industry is hook-a-cook over the historic box office performance this year, but be rest assured, the potential biggest month of the year is yet to come. December 2023 is packed with, not one but multiple blockbusters. If there is no postponement from the current schedule, the last month of the year will potentially become the biggest ever in Hindi domestically.## The December month carnage will begin with Ranbir Kapoor's Animal and Vicky Kaushal-starrer Sam Bahadur on December 1st. The gangster action drama, Animal, which is directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, is particularly having a sky-high buzz and it is expected to emerge as Ranbir's one of biggest grossers ever. ## Sam Bahadur, which is based on the life of Sam Manekshaw who was the Chief of the Army Staff of the Indian Army during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, is directed by Meghna Gulzar and as far as the box office is concerned, it carried the potential of turning beast as Kaushal has proved his mettle with patriotic film in the past.## A week later, Sidharth Malhotra's aerial action thriller, Yodha and Katrina Kaif's Merry Christmas will take on each other on December 8. Originally scheduled for December 15, both movies recently advanced their release dates. Yodha vs. Merry Christmas is perhaps the lesser-hyped clash at the moment but it can generate buzz after the teaser/trailer launch and can emerge as the dark horse at the box office.## The biggest box office clash of the year, or possibly the Indian cinema, superstar Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki and Prabhas-fronted Salaar will take place on December 22 during the Christmas weekend. SRK, after delivering two back-to-back mega-blockbusters, will look to score a hat-trick and with Rajkumar Hirani in the director's chair, Dunki is already looking like a box office volcano.## Salaar, from the makers of the KGF franchise, can emerge as another big hit at the Hindi box office from South India. It is easily the most-awaited Pan-Indian movie and with superstar Prabhas in the lead role under the direction of Prashanth Neel, Salaar should score a big success in Hindi.## There is enough scope for the aforementioned films to make December 2023 the biggest month of all time, and eventually the first 1000 crores net or more. Los Angeles, September 20 - The uncertainty over the release date of Prabhas-fronted hugely anticipated action drama film "Salaar Part 1 - Ceasefire" continues to loom large after being postponed from September 28.## Even though the release date of the movie is not confirmed yet, the buzz in the trade hasn't died down at all, be it domestically or overseas. Trade is super confident about the blockbuster combo of the superstar Prabhas and director Prashanth Neel ("KGF" franchise) to bring the audiences to theatres in large numbers.## As reported earlier, the pre-release theatrical business and non-theatrical rights of "Salaar" are being locked, and in this process, the makers have reportedly locked the theatrical business of the movie in North America.## According to reliable reports, "Salaar" rights have been sold at 36 crores in North America, which is an all-time second-highest for a Telugu movie, after SS Rajamouli's "RRR" (40 crores). "Salaar" will need to score $9+ million to achieve the break-even target. Hyderabad, September 13 - One of the most-anticipated Pan Indian movies, Prabhas-fronted Salaar Part 1 - Ceasefire was all set to hit the big screens on September 28, however, due to the delay in the post-production work, the movie was officially postponed indefinitely.## The advance booking for the movie was also opened overseas but due to the postponement, it has been stopped. The buzz for the movie is high despite the delay, and now, according to the latest reports, the makers have taken full use of the high buzz and have sold the non-theatrical rights of "Salaar" for a whopping sum.## According to Bollywood Hungama, "Salaar's" satellite rights have been bagged by Star TV for all 5 languages in which the movie will be released, Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. Netflix is said to have acquired the digital rights of all 5 languages. Mumbai, September 9 - Sunny Deol-fronted Gadar 2: The Katha Continues takes one step closer to Shah Rukh Khan's "Pathaan" as far as the Indian box office is concerned.## The period action drama film, directed by Anil Sharma, has crossed SS Rajamouli's mega blockbuster "Baahubali 2 The Conclusion" to become the second highest Hindi net collection scorer of all-time. BB2 had scored 510.99 crores net in Hindi, which is still the highest collection ever in the dubbed version in India. ## At the time of writing this piece, Gadar 2 has topped BB2 Hindi collection, and is now left behind only Pathaan which scored a little over 524 crores net in Hindi earlier this year. The Sunny Deol-starrer movie has slowed down after the release of Shah Rukh Khan's "Jawan", but it is still in the race to cross Pathaan. ## Gadar 2 was made in the budget of around 70 crores, and as things stand today, it is one of the most profitable Indian movies of all-time. The black comedy crime thriller stars Rajkummar Rao, Dulquer Salmaan, Adarsh Gourav, Goutam Sharma, Gourav Sharma, Sanchay Goswami, Gulshan Devaiah, Pooja Gor, and Shreya Dhanwanthary, among other in prominent roles.## "Guns and Gulaabs" debuted August 18 on Netflix and scored 8.1 million viewing hours from 1.3 million views in the opening weekend (August 18-20), and was the 8th most-watched non-English show globally. During the week of August 21-27, the series generated 13.3 million viewing hours from 2.2 million views and was the 7th most-watched title globally.## The total viewing hours of the series are 21.4 million from just 3.5 million views. The reviews from the critics are mixed while audience score is 78% on IMDb which can be seen as decent. Set in the 90s world of crime and violence, it depicts the story of love and innocence blending with humour and romance.## Meanwhile, Prabhas-fronted Adipurush (Hindi) has crossed 15 million views in the first 17 days of its release on Netflix. The movie scored 12.7 million viewing hours from 4.3 million views in the first 10 days (August 11-20). During the week of August 21-27, it scored 2.6 million viewing hours from 900K views, which takes the total watch time of the movie to 15.3 million from 5.2 million views.## Directed by Om Raut, the film is based on the epic Ramayana. It was originally released theatrically on June 16 and met with horrible reviews from critics while audience reception was also negative.
