Not so long ago, actor Saif Ali Khan sparked controversy for saying that his role of Raavan in the upcoming film Adipurush is humane and his character will "justify his abduction of Sita". However, the actor had to apologises later for his statements after people took offense.## This was not the first time when Saif found himself on the controversial side. He had landed in a similar fix back then when he declared Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, to be historically inaccurate. The actor played antagonist Udaybhan Singh Rathore in the movie. ## Now, the director of Adipurush and Tanhaji, Om Raut has reacted to Saif's remark and said that he would have preferred to not have drawn negative attention towards the film before its release.## "I think Saif sir has his own way of thinking. What he kind of meant and what comes out is maybe not always communicated well. That's one thing that we've come over... We're over it. I love Saif sir for the commitment he has for the subject, the type of reading that he has done. That's the Saif Ali Khan that we should know, and that's the Saif Ali Khan that's a page of Indian cinema", Om Raut told Rajeev Masand in an interview. ## In his interview with Mumbai Mirror, Saif had said, "It"s interesting to play a demon king, less strictures in that. Saif Ali Khan, who is set to portray the character of 'Lankesh' in Om Raut's magnum opus, Adipurush, has landed in troubled water after his controversial statement of "justifying the abduction of Sita by Raavan" in a recent interview. ## In an interview with Mumbai Mirror, Saif had opened up on playing Raavan in Prabhas starrer Adhipurush and said, "It's interesting to play a demon king, less strictures in that. Mumbai BJP leader Ram Kadam criticized the actor for the same and had tweeted, "Actor #SaifAliKhan makes an extremely shocking statement regarding his forthcoming film Adipurush. Saif who plays Ravan's character says Ravan's abduction of Sita Maa will be justified in the film. Ravan's humane side will be shown and his war against Sri Ram will be justified". ## "Director @OmRaut director, you made #Tanhaji which was well received worldwide bcz it does justice to Hindu pride and Marathi asmita. But if #Adhipurush plans to show Ravan in positive light and justify the inhuman act of abduction of Sita Maa, we will never allow that to happen. Hope better sense prevails #JaiShriRam", he added. ## After found himself on the wrong side, Saif has now clarified and withdrawn his statement and has apologized for hurting the sentiments. He said that he never intended to hurt anyone as he himself idolize Lord Ram. The director of Yash starrer K.G.F, Prashanth Neel who is currently busy with the production of his upcoming film KGF: Chapter 2, has joined hand with Baahubali star, Prabhas for his next action saga titled, Salaar. The movie will be produced by Vijay Kirugandur of Hombale Films. ## According to India TV News, sources close to actor Prabhas revealed that director Prashanth Neel met the actor recently. The director narrated a story to Prabhas and the latter was impressed with the story and signed the film.## Salaar will go on floors in January 2021. Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior director, Om Raut is working on his next magnum opus, Adipurush - an adaptation of the epic Ramayana. The filmmaker has reportedly finished the scripting of this big-scale mythological and now, working on finalizing the cast. ## While Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan had already been announced to play Ram and Lankesh respectively, the search for other important characters is also looking on the finishing line. Now, the makers have finalized Kriti Sanon to play the role of Sita while Sunny Singh to portray Laxman in Adipurush, as reported earlier. ## Sunny Singh who was last seen in Navjot Gulati's Jai Mummy Di last year has signed the film and started shooting. The actor is elated to have bagged such a massive project and is excited to share screen space with the superstar Prabhas as his aide and younger brother. ## For the role of Sita, earlier the names like Keerthy Suresh, Anushka Sharma, and Deepika Padukone had cropped up, but Kriti Sanon is brought on board to play Prabhu Ram's wife's role in this most awaited film. ## "After considering several top names, from both the Hindi and Telugu industries, the makers have decided on Kriti. Saif will potray the charactor of Lankesh - the menacing villain in this epic drama movie. ## The announcement of Saif Ali Khan joining the cast of Adipurush came after 15 days of the movie announcement. The movie will be produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Om Raut, Prasad Sutar, and Rajesh Nair under the banners of T-series and Retrophiles. ## The film is a big-screen adaptation of an Indian epic that revolves around the triumph of good over evil. It is said to be an adaption of Ramayan that will be made in 3D. The filming will begin in 2021 while it is eyeing to release in 2022. ## Talking about Saif Ali Khan, Adipurush will be his second collaboration with Om Raut after Tanhaji while the actor will be seen sharing the screen space with pan Indian star Prabhas for the first time. Pan India star, Prabhas and Bollywood diva, Shraddha Kapoor starrer action thriller movie Saaho has completed one year from its release. This Sujeeth directorial multilingual movie hit the theaters on August 30 with a lot of expectations in terms of entertainment. However, despite having a multi-star cast, the movie couldn't live up to its expectations. ## Saaho was an overall disappointment even though the Hindi audience loved the film. It disappointed in the other languages as the audience felt that the story of the film was confusing and somewhere the Prabhas magic despite some glimpses, was also missing in this UV Creations' production. And resulted in, the audience was left despondent by the collectively average performance from the rest of the cast which included Jackie Shroff, Chunky Pandey, Vennela Kishore, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Murali Sharma, and others. ## Talking about its box office collection, Saaho opened up with a massive number as the audience was curious to watch their favorite stars. On Day 1, it collected INR 89 crores with the large contribution from the Telugu language of INR 60.40 crore. However, after day 1, with reviews started to come, the collection dropped heavily on weekends as it earned INR 55.10 crore and 56.78 crores on Saturday and Sunday respectively. ## With bad reviews all around, the movie could never able to get the momentum back and kept slipping as the days progressed. After Baahubali: The Beginning, Prabhas has been able to earn a true fan base among the Hindi audience that came out handy when Saaho released. However, the collection dropped in the Hindi as well, but it was able to keep the momentum after the first weekend. ## Unlike the overall collection, the first three days of the Hindi collection was better than day 1 with INR 25.20 crore and 29.48 crores on Saturday and Sunday. Overall, Saaho was hit in Hindi and did a net business of INR 145.60 crores in India.
