Gautam Gambhir Feels Royal Challengers Bangalore Should Look Beyond Virat Kohli As Captain

Former India opener, Gautam Gambhir has slammed Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper, Virat Kohli after RCB lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad by 6-wickets in Eliminator on Friday (November 6) and knocked out from the tournament. Gambhir feels that Virat Kohli should be held accountable for RCB's failure and should step down from captaincy. ## "100%, because the problem is about accountability. Eight years into the tournament [without a trophy], eight years is a long time. Tell me any other captain, forget about the captain, tell me any other player who would have got eight years, and wouldn't have won the title and would have still continued with it. So it has to be accountability. A captain needs to take accountability", Gambhir said in a live interaction on ESPNCricinfo.## "It's not only about one year, but it's also not only about this. I have nothing against Virat Kohli but somewhere down the line, he needs to put his hand up and say, 'yes, I am responsible. I am accountable", he continued. ## Virat Kohli has captained RCB in 125 matches in which, the team has won 55 matches and lost 63 games. Under Kohli's captaincy, RCB has reached the final only once where they lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2016. ## Speaking about the same, Gambhir said, "Eight years is a long, long time. Look at what happened to Ashwin. After two years of captaincy [for the Kings XI Punjab], he couldn't deliver and he was removed. We talk about MS Dhoni, we talk about Rohit Sharma, we talk about Virat Kohli, not at all. Dhoni has won three titles, Rohit Sharma has won four titles, and that's the reason they've captained for such a long time because they've delivered. I'm sure if Rohit Sharma wouldn't have delivered for eight years, he would have been removed as well. There should not be different yardsticks for different people".## "The problem and the accountability starts from the top, not from the management nor the support staff, but from the leader. You're the leader, you're the captain. When you get the credit, you should take the criticism as well", Gambhir said. ## .@GautamGambhir says it is time for Bangalore to look beyond Virat Kohli as captain 🏏https://t.co/hbe8aQOUsg #T20Timeout pic.twitter.com/9ntEpG1uDY— ESPNcricinfo (@ESPNcricinfo) November 7, 2020 ## Stay tuned...

IPL 2020: Virat Kohli Hails 'Super-Human' AB de Villiers For His Masterful Knock On A Tough Pitch

AB de Villiers proved his undeniable brilliance yet again and played a memorable knock on a tough pitch for the batsmen. At Sharjah's pitch which has been a batting paradise so far, was on a slower side for Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders' match on Monday (October 12). ## While all the other batsmen were struggling to find runs, AB de Villiers came and single-handedly stole the show for his sensational knock of unbeaten 73 off 33 balls with 5 fours and 6 sixes. His knock helped RCB to register a massive win 82-runs in the IPL 2020. ## RCB's skipper Virat Kohli heaped praise on ABD with whom, he added 100 runs off just 46 balls. He said that the team was looking to get around 165-170 runs but because of the ABD's masterful innings, they could reach on such a big target of 194 in 20 overs. ## "At the toss, the pitch didn't have the usual Sharjah sheen. Knew the wicket was going to get slower and slower. Barring one super-human, everyone struggled on that pitch. The talk was around 165-170. The preparation was really good. The three-week camp helped us. Have clarity of plans. Know exactly what we want to do on the field. It all depends on the mindset. It's very positive", Virat said in the post-match presentation with Murali Kartik. ## "On a pitch like that, only AB can do that. It was a special knock. We got 195 purely because of the genius of that man. Always things you can reflect on and say you can improve on these things. All about taking this momentum forward. Don't want to be complacent", he added. ## Meanwhile, RCB is moved up in the points table. With 5 wins in 7 matches, the three times finalist is currently sitting at number 3 with 10 points after Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals. Now, the team will next face Kings XI Punjab on October 15 in Sharjah. ## Stay tuned...

"I Am Making It Official And Don't Blame Me Later On", Ravichandran Ashwin

During the second innings of Royal Challengers Bangalore against Delhi Capitals in the IPL 2020, on Monday (October 5), Ravichandran Ashwin left the entire cricketing fraternity bamboozled as this time he let go RCB's batsman Aaron Finch when the non-striker strayed outside the crease before the offie had released the ball. ## The incident turned out to be a quite strange one as Ashwin, playing for Kings XI Punjab, had Mankad Jos Buttler in the last year's IPL when Rajasthan Royals' star batman strayed outside the no-striker crease. Ashwin had later on clarified that he was within the rules and won't be afraid of doing it again.## The incident of letting go finch with a warning soon becomes a huge talking point on social media as fans started to discuss how Capitals head coach Ricky Ponting might have convinced Ashwin against Mankading the non-striker this season.## Taking to Twitter, Ashwin posted a matured tweet regarding the incident while also expressing how friendly are the terms between him, DC coach Ponting as well as RCB batsman Finch. "Let’s make it clear !! First and final warning for 2020. I am making it official and don’t blame me later on. @RickyPonting #runout #nonstriker @AaronFinch5 and I are good buddies btw. #IPL2020", he tweeted.## Let’s make it clear !! "Told Simon Katich That Devdutt Padikkal Has Got Some Serious Talent", Virat Kohli

The Royal Challengers Bangalore's skipper Virat Kohli has heaped praise on the 20-year old Devdutt Padikkal who has been one of the stand-out players of the Indian Premier League 2020 so far. Padikkal, who has been consistent with his performance so far, is the leading scorer for RCB after the first 4 matches with 174 runs. ## Against Rajasthan Royals, Padikkal played a classy knock of 63 off 45 balls in a chase of 155, which helped RCB to register an easy win of 8 wickets. Though Virat himself was the top scorer of the inning with an unbeaten 72 off 53 balls, it was Padikkal's knock that caught his attention and he couldn't stop himself to praise the young talented batsman. ## "I saw him play and told Simon (Katich) that this guy has got some serious talent because he's got reach, a great eye, a great balance. It's very difficult for the bowlers to continue bowling the same lines and lengths against a leftie. The way he bats... very clean shots. You don't feel like he is taking risks", Virat said during the post-match presentation ceremony. ## The leading run-getter of the IPL history, Virat said that Padikkal is a smart guy who understands the game really well and hoped that he will continue to bat longer which going to beneficial for the team. ## "I just kept talking to him about building an inning. If he can bat longer for the team, it's gonna benefit us. Today he carried from 40 to 65 odd which helped the team eventually. He's a smart guy, he understands the game well and he responds to the feedback very well. The more he keeps learning, the better it is for RCB", Virat added. ## Playing as an opener, Padikkal so far has scored 56, 1, 54, and 63 and played a key role for RCB that is currently is in at number 2 on the points table with 6 points. ## While it has been an almost unprecedented start to IPL 2020 for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, Virat Kohli himself has back in form after the failure in the first 3 games with the bat. A smiling Kohli later said that he had told Jos Buttler, the Royals wicketkeeper, during his innings that he both loved and hated the game, because of the contrasting fortunes it made you experience as a player.## "It's a funny game you know. It's an amazing game. I was telling Jos when I was batting in there, I love this game and I hate it too", Virat said at the post-match presentation to Ian Bishop when asked about his form. "It's something that you need to understand as a player. When you play so much of cricket, you do feel like at times you're not in control of what you want to do".## "But more than that, you feel disappointed when the team's not doing well. But when the team's doing well, you feel like 'Okay I've got some more space to figure out how I want to go about applying my kind of batting for the benefit of the team".## Stay tuned...

"Crowds Are An Amazing Part Of The Game, But This IPL, We're Playing To Bring Smiles Back On People's Faces": Virat Kohli

The 13th season of the Indian Premier League is just about the corner to kick-off with Chennai Super Kings will be taking on the defending champions, Mumbai Indians in the tournament opener tomorrow (September 19) at 7:30 PM in Abu Dhabi. ## However, this year, there will be a lot of things different as compared to the previous seasons of the IPL all because of the ongoing covid-19 pandemic. This year, there will be no crowd to cheer the players in the ground as all be watching the tournament from their homes on the TV screens. ## The different circumstances are going to be challenging for the players. However, despite IPL 2020 set to be played behind closed doors in the UAE, the Royal Challengers Bangalore captain, Virat Kohli foresaw no drop in his playing intensity. ## "The intensity and passion won't drop even if there are no crowds," Kohli said at a media session to launch Royal Challengers covid warriors campaign. "Yes, empty stadiums will give us a strange feeling, and I won't deny it'll not be different when we walk out. But the feeling has changed a little after many training sessions and practice matches".## Virat Kohli admitted that the crowds are an amazing part of the game but this time, they will be playing for bigger reasons to bring back smiles on the faces who have suffered due to the pandemic.## Dream XI IPL 2020: Check Out The Complete And Team Wise Schedule Of The Tournament## "You understand why you started playing - because you love the game. This is a chance for us to play with that feeling with the entire country watching. As long as we're playing for the right reasons, all external factors become irrelevant.## "Yes, crowds are an amazing part of the game but this time, that's not what we're playing for. This time we're playing for a bigger reason. To bring smiles back on people's faces, those who've faced tough times due to the pandemic", Kohli said. ## Royal Challengers Bangalore will begin their campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad on September 21 in Dubai. RCB is one of the only three teams playing the IPL 2020 that are yet to win an IPL title despite reaching into the final on three occasions.
