RRR RRR is a fictional historical action drama directed by SS Rajamouli, set in 1920s colonial India. The film imagines a story where two legendary revolutionaries, Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Jr. NTR), who in real life never met, cross paths and form a powerful bond. Raju, working as a police officer under the British, is secretly an undercover revolutionary trying to secure weapons for his people, while Bheem is on a mission to rescue a young tribal girl taken away by the ruthless British governor. Their friendship, forged through courage and sacrifice, is tested when duty and loyalty place them on opposite sides. Eventually, the truth about Raju’s hidden mission is revealed, and the two join forces to take on the oppressive empire in a spectacular showdown. At its heart, the film is not just about rebellion but also about the unbreakable bond of friendship and the sacrifices made for freedom. With larger-than-life action sequences, emotional drama, and the iconic Naatu Naatu dance number, RRR delivers a cinematic spectacle that blends myth, history, and imagination. It stands as a tribute to the spirit of resistance, portraying how unity and courage can ignite the fire of revolution against tyranny. Rajamouli conceptualised the film by reimagining the lives of Sitarama Raju and Bheem, envisioning their meeting in 1920s Delhi as two formidable forces uniting to battle British colonial rule. The film was officially announced in March 2018, and principal photography began in November 2018 in Hyderabad. The production faced delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic and concluded in August 2021. RRR was shot extensively across India, with additional sequences filmed in Ukraine and Bulgaria.

9 Years Of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion; Why This Footfall King Remains The Avatar Of Indian Cinema

BY SACNILK

Nine years ago, on April 28, 2017, S.S. Rajamouli's Baahubali 2: The Conclusion hit the screens, fundamentally altering the trajectory of the Indian film industry. Beyond the staggering monetary figures, the film is often described as the Avatar of Indian Cinema due to its unprecedented reach. While modern blockbusters like the 2026 hit Dhurandhar 2 and Pushpa 2: The Rule have surpassed it in nominal collection figures, Baahubali 2 remains the undisputed champion of audience engagement. With over 10.8 crore tickets sold, it is the only Indian film of the 21st century to achieve such a feat. To match this level of admissions at today’s tripled ticket prices, a film would need to earn over ₹3,000 crore in the domestic market alone. The film's legacy is built on a foundation of firsts that many high-budget productions still struggle to replicate. From its opening day, where it maintained a near-impossible 95% occupancy across India, to its final theatrical run, the film dominated every circuit. It was the first Indian production to earn over ₹1,000 crore net in the domestic market and the first to gross ₹1,000 crore worldwide, achieving the latter in just ten days. Its regional dominance was so absolute that it became the highest-grossing film in nearly every Indian state, and it remains the only movie in history where all four primary languages (Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Malayalam) collected over ₹50 crore net each. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Below is a comprehensive breakdown of the records established by Baahubali 2: The Conclusion: Domestic Benchmarks: It set the record for the biggest opening day with ₹121 crore and the biggest first Monday with over ₹80 crore net across all languages. The ₹1000 Crore Pioneer: It is the first and only film to surpass ₹1,000 crore net domestically and served as the creator of the ₹400 crore through ₹1000 crore NBOC clubs. Unrivaled Footfalls: The film recorded over 1.05 crore admissions on its first day alone and finished its run with an estimated 10.8 crore ticket sales, the highest this century. Kerala Box Office: It was the first film to open at ₹5 crore in Kerala and became the first non-Malayalam film to cross ₹50 crore in the state, eventually finishing at over ₹75 crore. After 9 years, no non-Malayalam film has surpassed this collection. Global Release Scale: It premiered on over 9,000 screens worldwide (6,500 in India), setting a record for the widest release at the time. North American Dominance: It was the first Indian film to cross the $20 million mark in the USA, a record that stood for eight years, and earned a massive $10.43 million in its opening weekend. China & Japan Market: It holds the 5th highest collection for an Indian film in China and saw the 3rd highest opening there behind Secret Superstar and Hindi Medium. In Japan, it remained the 3rd highest Indian grosser for years. Guinness World Record: To promote the franchise, a massive poster covering 51,598.21 square feet (the size of 18 tennis courts) was unveiled in Kochi, officially becoming the world’s largest poster. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Nepal Dominance :It still holds the record for the highest-grossing Indian film in Nepal. Non-Hindi Mastery: It was the first South Indian film to collect over ₹500 crore net in North India Middle East Milestones: In the UAE, it sold over 100,000 tickets in advance, beating Fast and Furious. It was also the first Indian film to receive a standing ovation from the UAE censor board. IMAX & Prestigious Screenings: It recorded the biggest IMAX launch for an Indian film ($1.8 million) and became the first non-English film since 1871 to be screened at the Royal Albert Hall with a live orchestral score. Pre-Release & Digital: It was the first film to earn over ₹500 crore from satellite, theatrical, and digital rights before release. Netflix acquired the streaming rights for a then-record ₹25.5 crore. Television Records: Its Hindi premiere on Sony MAX garnered 2.6 crore impressions, outperforming its closest competitor by 500%. The Telugu premiere delivered a historic 22.7 TRP. Baahubali 2: The Conclusion is effectively the architect of the modern Pan-India concept. Its ability to maintain a second-highest worldwide grosser position and a 7th highest overseas grosser rank for nearly a decade speaks to its enduring appeal. While inflation may allow newer films to touch higher revenue milestones, the 10-crore-plus footfall record stands as a near-impossible mountain to climb. Nine years later, the saga of Mahendra Baahubali remains the gold standard for cinematic scale and commercial success in Indian history.

Dhurandhar, Pushpa, KGF, Baahubali: Comparing How Part 2 of The Biggest Indian Blockbusters Fares Against Part 1

BY SACNILK

Mumbai, March 23 - If day 3 was a tsunami, Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge brought mayhem on day 4 with another record-breaking collection. The spy action thriller hit the ball out of the park to deliver back-to-back 100 crore net in Hindi. It was like, the first time was nice, so I had to do it twice, kind of thing, as the movie is now in the league of its own. In comparison to the biggest grossers after 4 days, Dhurandhar 2 is the second, only to Pushpa 2, which benefited from the massive Pan India release. However, in the long run, Aditya Dhar's directed film is expected to beat Pushpa 2 and become the number 1 film at the Indian box office. Baahubali, KGF, Pushpa, Dhurandhar - Part 1 vs Part 2 India Gross Comparison (1st 4 Days) Movie Part 1 Part 2 Baahubali - ₹ 485.00 Cr KGF ₹ 83.40 Cr ₹ 462.50 Cr Pushpa ₹ 147.70 Cr ₹ 632.42 Cr Dhurandhar ₹ 151.50 Cr ₹ 541.97 Cr __________________________________________________________________________ Mumbai, March 22 - After the big first two days, the third day of each movie (in this article) has been huge, but Dhurandhar 2 took things to another level without as much support as the other three films got from their non-original films. The Aditya Dhar-directed spy actioner had a monumental day 3 at the Indian box office, which saw the Hindi version topping 100+ crore net for the first time. It is now only behind Pushpa 2, which had a wider pan-India release, after the first three days at the domestic box office. Baahubali, KGF, Pushpa, Dhurandhar - Part 1 vs Part 2 India Gross Comparison (1st 3 Days) Movie Part 1 Part 2 Baahubali - ₹ 382.00 Cr KGF ₹ 69.80 Cr ₹ 355.50 Cr Pushpa ₹ 128.05 Cr ₹ 463.90 Cr Dhurandhar ₹ 123.60 Cr ₹ 400.35 Cr __________________________________________________________________________ Mumbai, March 21 - The trend of sequels, or say Part 2, outperforming their predecessors has become a defining pattern in Indian cinema, especially when it comes to large-scale franchise films which resonated beyond regional boundaries. From Baahubali: The Beginning to Dhurandhar 2, filmmakers have successfully expanded their cinematic universes, often turning second instalments into historic box office juggernauts. Here's a look at how Part 2 of some of the biggest Indian blockbusters - Dhurandhar, Pushpa, KGF, and Baahubali - compare with their first parts. Baahubali: The Franchise That Started It All Baahubali: The Beginning was a massive success, but it was Baahubali 2: The Conclusion that rewrote Indian box office history. At a time when ticket prices were comparatively lower than today, Baahubali 2 was a phenomenon beyond boundaries. While it is difficult for most of the movies to generate 10 million admissions in their lifetime runs, Baahubali 2 scored 1+ crore admissions in India on day 1 alone, which still seems out of the world in a country where theatre screens are still insufficient when compared to the large cinema-going audience. While the first film laid the foundation with its grand storytelling and visual spectacle, the sequel capitalised on the iconic question, "Why did Kattappa kill Baahubali?" The result was unprecedented hype, leading to a record-breaking theatrical run that far surpassed the original in every market. It remains the biggest Indian blockbuster of the 21st century with over 100 million tickets sold here. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Baahubali Films India Gross (Lifetime) S. However, KGF: Chapter 2 arrived with massive anticipation and delivered a box office explosion. The sequel not only opened bigger but also sustained exceptionally well, becoming one of the highest-grossing Indian films and the highest-grossing Kannada movie ever, dwarfing the lifetime collections of Part 1 by a 5x margin. However, it was the Hindi market where the movie turned into an unexpected big hit and laid the foundation for its successor to rule the most important territory in India. Building on that popularity, Pushpa 2: The Rule took things to another level. With heightened scale, stronger promotions, and pan-India appeal, the sequel shattered opening day and weekend records, easily outpacing the first part and establishing itself as a global blockbuster. With massive pre-sales, record-breaking ticket demand, and a historic opening, the second instalment has already outperformed Part 1 in terms of initial numbers. Despite some setbacks like show cancellations in dubbed versions, the film has demonstrated the sheer power of franchise hype in today's market. Unlike the other three films (in this article), Dhurandhar Part 1 itself was a monstrous hit with over 1000 crore gross at the Indian box office. It is the only original film to reach this figure at the domestic box office. Part 2, which is the continuation of the first film, has started on an unpremeditated note and is expected to outgross the first film very soon. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Dhurandhar vs Dhurandhar The Revenge India Gross Comparison Day Dhurandhar (2025) Dhurandhar: The Revenge (2026) Day 1 ₹ 33.60 Crore ₹ 172.60 Crore (inc. pre.) Sequels often come with bigger budgets, improved storytelling, and a deeper emotional payoff, making them more appealing to a wider audience. From Baahubali 2: The Conclusion setting the benchmark to Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge carrying the momentum forward, Indian cinema has mastered the art of the sequel. In most of the cases, Part 2 doesn't just match expectations, it surpasses them, proving that when done right, franchises only grow stronger with time. Stay tuned...

Baahubali The Epic Final Box Office Collection: Epic Yet Underwhelming Run

BY SACNILK

Hyderabad, November 19 - Director SS Rajamouli's action drama Baahubali: The Epic, the one long cut version of his iconic Baahubali duology, has wrapped up its epic yet unwhelming box office run. The movie has become the highest-grossing Indian re-release title, but it promised much more. Starring Prabhas in the title role, Baahubali: The Epic was unlike any other Indian re-release title. The makers promoted it as a proper new release, and it delivered results to some extent. However, the trade was expecting it to become the first Indian re-release film to gross over 100 crores, which didn't happen. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Produced by Arka Mediaworks, the film has grossed approximately 39.50 crores domestically, making it the highest-grossing re-release film in India. Overseas, The Epic minted approximately 12.25 crores, including 8.25 crores in North America, finishing at around 52 crores gross globally. These are unheard-of numbers for a reissue Indian title, which demonstrates the massive excitement it generated before its release. Baahubali: The Epic Box Office Collection | All Language | Day Wise | Worldwide In Telugu states, the film scored around 21.50 crores, while the Hindi belt delivered 8.25 crores. Overall, the movie sold approximately 23 lakh tickets in India, which is an excellent result for a re-release blockbuster. It is the third most-watched re-release film in India, after Sanam Teri Kasam and Tumbbad, which sold 23+ lakh tickets each. Baahubali: The Epic opened strongly in select territories, but its collections dropped quickly after the first weekend, signalling limited repeat value among audiences. The grand re-release — including extensive 4K restoration, IMAX screenings, and a new marketing push — had created an atmosphere similar to that of a major new release. Yet, the finish highlighted that even an iconic franchise like Baahubali cannot fully replicate its past theatrical dominance merely through nostalgia. Stay tuned...

Prabhas, SS Rajamouli's Baahubali: The Epic Crosses 50 Crore Worldwide, But Fails To Match The Hype

Hyderabad, November 10 - Pan-India superstar Prabhas and director SS Rajamouli's much-hyped magnum opus Baahubali: The Epic has topped 50 crores gross collection at the worldwide box office, but this isn't what the trade had expected despite it becoming the first Indian re-release to hit the milestone. Baahubali: The Epic, which is a one-part version of the Baahubali duology, was carrying huge anticipation. With grand promotions, renewed marketing buzz, and strong nostalgia among fans, the film has managed to collect over 50 crore worldwide in 10 days — a figure impressive for most re-releases, yet far below the towering expectations surrounding this one. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Trade had anticipated Baahubali: The Epic to rewrite the record books for re-released films, especially considering the film's legendary status, and a never-before-attempted one-cut version. However, while the movie opened strongly in select territories, its collections dropped quickly after the first weekend, signalling limited repeat value among audiences. The grand re-release — including extensive 4K restoration, IMAX screenings, and a new marketing push — had created an atmosphere similar to that of a major new release. Yet, the 50 crore worldwide gross has highlighted that even an iconic franchise like Baahubali cannot fully replicate its past theatrical dominance merely through nostalgia. While the 50 crores mark globally still makes it the highest-grossing Indian re-release to date, the numbers fall short of high expectations that had pegged it to touch the 100 crore mark globally. Some even had anticipated it to cross 100 crores in India alone, but that is not the case anymore. Stay tuned...

Prabhas' Baahubali: The Epic Becomes The Highest-Grossing Indian Re-Release Film

BY SACNILK

Hyderabad, November 3 - SS Rajamouli's action drama Baahubali: The Epic, the one-cut version of his epic Baahubali duology, has become the highest-grossing Indian re-release film of all time after it scored an excellent opening weekend globally. Starring Pan India superstar Prabhas in the title role, the movie grossed approximately 40 crores in its 3-day opening weekend at the worldwide box office, including around 29 crores domestically and 11 crores overseas. This makes it the biggest re-release Indian blockbuster. Baahubali: The Epic has beaten the lifetime re-release run of Harshvardhan Rane's Sanam Teri Kasam, which minted around 39 crores earlier this year. The entire collection of STK came from the domestic market, as it wasn't re-released internationally. Tumbbad is the third biggest grosser with around 37 crores. The 3-hour and 45-minute-long blockbuster is heading towards becoming the first Indian re-release title to gross 50 crores. As reported earlier, Baahubali: The Epic will need to gross over 100 crores domestically to make Baahubali: The Conclusion the biggest grosser in India, a title which the movie held for nearly 8 years before Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2: The Rule claimed it earlier this year. Though the opening weekend collection of the film is excellent, it is unlikely to gross 100 crores domestically, which is a tough ask for a non-original movie. However, it needs to be seen how to fares during the weekdays as that will determine how far it can go at the box office. Stay tuned...
