Tokyo, May 14 - The epic Indian blockbuster RRR, directed by maverick SS Rajamouli, is unstoppable at the Japanese box office, proving to be a monstrous hit in the country. ## Released in October last year, "RRR" initially feared a short life in Japan after lower than expected opening. However, as word of mouth spread, it became a force to reckon with, and as things stand today, it has crossed the historic ¥2 billion/$14.75 million or 121+ crores.## The period action drama is going nuts at the Japanese box office since last year and currently playing in a handful of cinemas. "RRR" already became the highest-grossing Indian movie in Japan in December 2022 after beating Rajinikanth's "Muthu" but it has stunned one and all with its longevity at the box office.## The period action drama has been running in theaters for over 205 days and has scored over 1.2 million footfalls. As reported earlier, Japan has become the highest-grossing overseas market for "RRR" after it crossed the film's USA run of $14.30 million. The movie was released in October of last year in Japan, and even after 6 months, it is playing in a handful of cinemas. ## A great example of "RRR's" longevity at the Japan box office is that it scored the biggest Monday collection on May 1, which was the 193rd day since its release. No one had thought "RRR" to come this long way, and now, Japan has become the highest-grossing overseas market for film. ## The movie has so far grossed about $14.30 million in 197 days in Japan. Hyderabad, April 11 - Telugu superstar Ram Charan's romantic-comedy Orange (2010) has done very well upon its limited re-release. Directed by Bhaskar, Orange was a disaster in its original run, however, it later gained a cult status and has been people's favorite. ## It was recently re-released on limited screens on the occasion of Ram Charan's birthday, and thanks to the immense popularity it gained over the years, Orange did really well as it grossed approx. 3.50 crores. In Telugu states, it grossed approx. 3.15 crores and turned successful. ## Orange re-release took the opening of approx. 1.40 crores worldwide and remains steady over the week to post good numbers for an occasional release. Hyderabad, April 6 - Telugu superstar Ram Charan is busy with the shooting of his much-awaited political action thriller film Game Changer with director Shankar. However, it has now been revealed that Charan wasn't his first choice for the movie. ## During a recent interview with Mirchi9, producer Dil Raju revealed that director Shankar wanted to make the movie with superstar Pawan Kalyan. However, after listing the story for 45-minutes, Dil Raju told Shankar that Ram Charan would be the perfect fit for the role and that's how he came on board RC15, now a "Game Changer".## Written by Karthik Subbaraj and screenplay penned by Shankar, "Game Changer" in the last leg of shoot and it will soon be wrapped up. Ram Charan plays the protagonist while Kiara Advani is the leading lady along with S. J. Suryah, among others in key roles.## The movie marks Shankar's debut in Telugu cinema. The release date is not announced yet but reports say it will either release on Christmas 2023 or March/April 2024. While this period action drama movie is on the historic run at the Japanese box office it is simultaneously trending on Netflix even after many months of release.## The Jr. NTR and Ram Charan-fronted flick won the Best Original Song Oscar for Naatu Naatu last week. The big win increased the buzz of the movie for another round and the result is clearly visible with its return to the top 10 list of the most-watched non-English films on Netflix last week. ## The "RRR" Hindi version scored 2.67 million viewing hours during the week of March 13 - March 19 and was the 7th most watched non-English movie during the week. Despite being in its 22nd week, the period action drama is putting insane numbers and has now crossed the historic milestone of $10 million there. ## Released in October last year, the Jr. NTR and Ram Charan-fronted flick has so far collected approx. ¥1360 million or $10.13 million or INR 84 crores in 21 weeks. The collection of RRR witnessed a huge jump in its 21st week after the film's Oscar win. ## It is insane that the 21st-week collection (¥125 million) of RRR is the highest so far in its box office run in Japan and it is almost 6 times higher than the 9th week of collection (¥21 million) which is the lowest week-wise total of the movie so far. ## At one point, it was looking difficult for RRR to even cross ¥500 million after the slow start in Japan.
