Hyderabad, February 8 - Telugu superstar Ram Charan is teaming up with director Buchi Babu Sana for the first time for a rural sports drama film. It will be produced by Mythri Movie Makers in association with Sukumar Writings and Vriddhi Cinemas. ## The shoot of the film, tentatively titled RC 16 is expected to commence in April this year and before rolling the film, the makers are in the process of finalizing the rest of the cast. Meanwhile, according to reliable Telugu media reports, Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor has been locked in to play the female lead. ## Janhvi Kapoor's name for RC 16 has been in the news for some time and the actress is finally on board the film. The official announcement regarding the actress' casting is expected to be made soon. Meanwhile, there have been reports that Vijay Sethupathi is also a part of the movie, however, the official confirmation is yet to be made. ## Oscar-winning musician AR Rahman is on board to score music while Rathnavelu roped in as cinematographer for the film. Hyderabad, January 30 - Telugu cinema will be on a roll in the next couple of years with back-to-back Pan India biggies lined up for the release. In 2023, some of the biggest Tollywood stars will be in action with films that are some of the most anticipated ones among the nationwide audiences. ## The trade is quite optimistic about the upcoming Pan-Indian films regarding their box-office prospects, however, projections are split as far as their overseas business is concerned. According to the latest reports in Tollywood media, the overseas rights of Devara, Game Changer, Vishwambhara, and OG are locked. ## Jr. NTR-led "Devara" is easily one of the biggest Telugu films that reunited him with director Koratala Siva. The film was scheduled to release on April 5 this year but has now reportedly been postponed to a new date. It is said that Hamsini Entertainment has acquired the overseas theatrical rights of the film for 27 crores. The movie is expected to be released in August this year. ## Jr. NTR's "RRR" co-star Ram Charan teamed up with director Shankar for a political action drama film titled "Game Changer". The movie has been in production since 2022 but the shoot got delayed due to Shankar's other commitments. The makers are now planning to release the film in September this year. ## According to reports, the overseas theatrical rights of "Game Changer" have been bagged by Phars Films for 23 crores. The overseas business of the movie got hit by the continuous delay but it is expected to fetch good business for the domestic market. ## Megastar Chiranjeevi teamed up with director Mallidi Vassishta for a socio-fantasy film titled "Vishwambhara". The makers recently released a concept first look teaser which instantly caught the attention of the fans. The movie is carrying a very good buzz among the audiences as well as the trade and as a result, it fetched a good overseas deal. As per reports, Sarigama Cinemas acquired the overseas rights of Vishwambhara for 18 crores which is very good business. It will be released on Sankranthi 2025. ## Action drama "OG", starring superstar Pawan Kalyan, is another big Telugu film in production. Directed by Sujeeth, the movie is shaping up to be the biggest film in Pawan Kalyan's career and there is genuine curiosity among the fans. Hyderabad, December 23 - Telugu superstar Ram Charan has been quietly working on his next film titled Game Changer with maverick director Shankar for some time now. The political action drama film has Kiara Advani as the female lead, marking the trio's first collaboration. ## "Game Changer" was announced last year and it was supposed to be released on Sankranthi 2024, but the film's shoot has been delayed multiple times owing to Shankar's other commitments which means it couldn't arrive on its planned date. The actor also seems to be in no hurry and letting things at his own pace. ## The film is produced by Dil Raju and the star producer has now revealed the much-awaited release date of it. Tokyo, July 25 - Telugu superstar Ram Charan's period action drama film "Rangasthalam" has crossed 1 crore at the Japanese box office after the second weekend. Directed by Sukumar, the movie was released in Japan on July 14, more than 5 years after its original release in 2018.## "Rangasthalam" has taken a decent start in Japan with ¥10.1 million or approx. 60 lakh in the 3-day opening weekend before ending the full week with ¥16.4 million or 95 lakh. In the second weekend, the movie scored ¥4.4 million (25 lakh) and took the total collection to ¥20.80 million (1.20 crores) so far.## Interestingly, Ram Charan's last release "RRR", which also stars Jr. NTR and is directed by Rajamouli, scored ¥18 million on its opening day in Japan last year and went on to finish over a historic ¥2 billion (approx. 125 crores) and is the highest-grossing Indian movie there.## Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, "Rangasthalam" was an industry hit during its release in 2018 in Telugu. It grossed over 200 crores at the worldwide box office and became the highest-grossing film in Ram Charan as well as Samantha's career.## Meanwhile, Yash-fronted "KGF" films were also released in Japan last week and have also crossed 1 crore and have grossed in a similar range as "Rangasthalam". Tokyo, July 19 - Telugu superstar Ram Charan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu's period action drama film "Rangasthalam" was released in Japan on July 14 and did decent business in the opening weekend on the limited screens. ## Directed by Sukumar, the all-time blockbuster movie reportedly grossed ¥10.1 million or approx. 60 lacs on its 3-day opening weekend with approx. 7200 admissions. The opening weekend collection of the movie failed to beat the opening day numbers of Ram Charan and Jr. NTR's "RRR" which grossed ¥18 million in October last year.## "Rangasthalam" was released around 70 screens in Japan and grossed 2.5 million yen on its opening day. It is expected to have a good run as the word of mouth among the Japanese audiences is super positive.## Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, "Rangasthalam" was an industry hit during its release in 2018 in Telugu. Los Angeles, June 29 - Indian stars Jr. NTR and Ram Charan along with filmmakers Karan Johar, Mani Ratnam, and Siddharth Roy Kapur, are among the 398 artists and executives from around the world who have been invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences this year, the Oscar-dispensing organization announced Wednesday. ## If all of this year's invitees accept membership, it will bring the total number of overall Academy members to 10,817 (up from 10,665 last year), with 9,375 eligible to vote (a decrease from 9,665 due to deaths, retirements, and moving to emeritus status) for the 96th Oscars, set to take place on March 10, 2024, according to Variety.## "RRR" stars, Jr. NTR and Ram Charan get an invitation in the actors' category while Karan Johar and Siddharth Roy Kapur have been named in the producers' category whereas Mani Ratnam's name is mentioned amongst the directors. Two of the most awaited movies, Ram Charan-starrer Game Changer and Prabhas-fronted Project K are such films which were announced a long time back but the shoot is still not completed. ## "Game Changer", which is being directed by Shankar, does not seem to getting completed anytime soon. Due to Shankar's other commitment to Kamal Haasan's "Indian 2", the shoot for Ram Charan's movie is having long delays, and as per the latest reports, around 80 days of shoot is still pending for the movie. ## The film was announced for Sankranthi 2024 release in multiple languages, but the latest reports have suggested that it won't be ready by that time. It is said that the "Game Changer" release date is now pushed to the Summer of 2024. It is produced by Dil Raju and the makers are unlikely to provide an update anytime soon as there is so much work still pending. ## Prabhas-fronted "Project K" is perhaps the most-anticipated Indian movie in the works at the moment. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the sci-fi action epic boasts a legendary cast that also features Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani in prominent roles. ## "Project K" is believed to be a two-part feature film, however, the makers haven't made any official announcement regarding the same yet. The movie, produced by C. Aswani Dutt's Vyjayanthi Movies, is currently slated for January 12, 2024, release worldwide in multiple languages. ## The makers didn't mention the release date in their announcement of Kamal Haasan coming on board the film which led to speculations about its postponement. Rumors have been going on for the past few weeks that "Project K" might not be releasing this Sankranthi as it needs a long time in post-production. ## In case of both the aforementioned films move out from Sankranthi 2024 race, then Mahesh Babu's "Guntur Kaaram" remains the only big film to release during this festival. Mumbai, May 23 - The Northern Irish actor, Ray Stevenson, who played the villainous British governor in SS Rajamouli's global blockbuster "RRR", sadly passed away at the age of 58. ## According to The Guardian, Ray Stevenson had died on Sunday, four days before his birthday.
