Box Office: Ram Charan's 'Rangasthalam' and Yash's 'KGF' Cross 1 Crore Each In Japan

Tokyo, July 25 - Telugu superstar Ram Charan's period action drama film "Rangasthalam" has crossed 1 crore at the Japanese box office after the second weekend. Directed by Sukumar, the movie was released in Japan on July 14, more than 5 years after its original release in 2018.## "Rangasthalam" has taken a decent start in Japan with ¥10.1 million or approx. 60 lakh in the 3-day opening weekend before ending the full week with ¥16.4 million or 95 lakh. In the second weekend, the movie scored ¥4.4 million (25 lakh) and took the total collection to ¥20.80 million (1.20 crores) so far.## Interestingly, Ram Charan's last release "RRR", which also stars Jr. NTR and is directed by Rajamouli, scored ¥18 million on its opening day in Japan last year and went on to finish over a historic ¥2 billion (approx. 125 crores) and is the highest-grossing Indian movie there.## Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, "Rangasthalam" was an industry hit during its release in 2018 in Telugu. It grossed over 200 crores at the worldwide box office and became the highest-grossing film in Ram Charan as well as Samantha's career.## Meanwhile, Yash-fronted "KGF" films were also released in Japan last week and have also crossed 1 crore and have grossed in a similar range as "Rangasthalam". In the first 10 days, "KGF 1" and "KGF 2" have grossed approx. JPY 20 million combined (JPY 10 million each) at the Japan box office.## Directed by Prashanth Neel, the two KGF films grossed approx. 1450 crores at the worldwide box office in their first runs. Tokyo, July 19 - Telugu superstar Ram Charan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu's period action drama film "Rangasthalam" was released in Japan on July 14 and did decent business in the opening weekend on the limited screens. ## Directed by Sukumar, the all-time blockbuster movie reportedly grossed ¥10.1 million or approx. 60 lacs on its 3-day opening weekend with approx. 7200 admissions. The opening weekend collection of the movie failed to beat the opening day numbers of Ram Charan and Jr. NTR's "RRR" which grossed ¥18 million in October last year.## "Rangasthalam" was released around 70 screens in Japan and grossed 2.5 million yen on its opening day. It is expected to have a good run as the word of mouth among the Japanese audiences is super positive.## Produced by Mythri Movie Makers, "Rangasthalam" was an industry hit during its release in 2018 in Telugu. It grossed over 200 crores at the worldwide box office and became the highest-grossing film in Ram Charan as well as Samantha's career. ## Meanwhile, the all-time blockbuster period action drama Kannada movies, "KGF 1" and "KGF 2", starring superstar Yash were also released in Japan on July 14 and they combined grossed ¥11 million or 65 lacs in the opening weekend with approx. 7840 admissions.## The original KGF movie grossed ¥5.8 million (35 lacs) with 4120 admissions while its sequel earned ¥5.2 million (30 lacs) with 3720 admissions. Mumbai, January 21 - Manish Shah of Goldmines Telefilms seems to be on a mission of releasing Hindi dubbed versions of South Indian movies. While Shah is behind the revolutionary idea of airing dubbed versions on television, the recent theatrical success of "Pushpa - The Rise" in Hindi has raised the expectations from South Indian films as far as theatrical experience is concerned. ## Inspired by the "Pushpa" success, Manish Shah, who owns the Hindi dubbing rights of 80% of South Indian films, has already announced the Hindi theatrical release of Allu Arjun's 2020 blockbuster "Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo" on January 26. AVPL was the highest-grossing South Indian film of 2020 which was directed by Trivikram Srinivas.## After "Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo", Manish Shah has plans to release Ram Charan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu's "Rangasthalam" (2018). This Sukumar-directed is one of the highest-grossing Telugu films of all time. Meanwhile, if all goes well, Thalapathy Vijay's Tamil blockbuster "Mersal" (2017) will also be released in theaters in Hindi. ## Directed by Atlee, "Mersal" became a huge hit in Tamil. Manish Shah in an interview with Bollywood Hungama revealed his plan to release "Rangasthalam", and "Mersal" in Hindi, however, a lot will depend upon how "Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo" performs at the box office. ## Being one of the leading South Indian stars, Thalapathy Vijay also carries a huge fan-following among the Hindi audiences. Mumbai, Jan 20 (IANS) The 2018 Telugu film ‘Rangasthalam starring Ram Charan is all set to release in Hindi in theatres next month.## Noted producer Manish Shah is planning the release to bring some respite for the cinema owners and to end the dry spell caused by the Covid pandemic.## A Sukumar directorial, ‘Rangasthalam' was a colossal success at the time of its release and was the Telugu film industry's biggest hit in 2018. The film is scheduled to release for Hindi audiences in February.## Several exhibitors have welcomed the decision to release the film. Mumbai, January 17 - The demand for Hindi dubbed versions of South Indian movies is increasing day by day. Allu Arjun's recently released "Pushpa - The Rise" became a massive hit in Hindi at the box office. Following the success of "Pushpa", Manish Shah of Goldmines Films announced theatrical release Allu Arjun's 2020 blockbuster "Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo" in Hindi on January 26. ## Now, according to reports, Manish Shah is planning to release more South Indian films in Hindi dubbed version the make full use of the next few weeks due to no fresh Bollywood content. According to Pinkvilla, Manish Shah and his team gearing up for the Hindi release of Ram Charan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu's 2018 blockbuster "Rangasthalam". ## Directed by Sukumar, "Rangasthalam" is considered one of the finest films of Ram Charan, which received both critical and commercial acknowledgment. The Hindi version of the in-demand for a long time, and now, Manish Shah, who acquired the Hindi dubbing rights, is reportedly gearing up to release it in Hindi in the month of February. ## "The talks are on, and Rangasthalam might arrive on the big screen for the Hindi speaking audience as early as in February", reports Pinkvilla, adding that apart from "Rangasthalam", Manish Shah is also planning to release two tentpole Tamil films, the Vijay-starrer "Mersal" directed by Atlee and the Ajith-fronted "Viswasam" directed by Siva. ## The release date announcements of "Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo", followed by "Rangasthalam" (yet to announce officially), and other South Indian films in Hindi is a welcome move, as theaters in North India are going through a rough phase due to the 3rd covid-19 wave.
