Vir Das takes cue from 'desi' stand-ups for 'Hasmukh'

Mumbai, April 16 (IANS) Actor-comedian Vir Das says preparing for his starring role in upcoming show "Hasmukh" was the best part of working in the project.## He "consciously watched" a lot of shows by local stand-up comics to get his character in the Netflix show right.## "A lot of my research had started when I was writing the show. But when I began my prep as an actor, I consciously watched a lot of shows by local stand-up comics," Vir said.## "I had finished 'Jestination Unknown' around the same time so by virtue of that I'd learned that humor is rooted in local styles and culture. There is more banter. The stories are intimate. I used all of that in Hasmukh's set. Watching more and more comics nudged me towards finding the right persona for 'Hasmukh'," he added.## Talking about his character, Vir explained: "He is essentially an introvert and his stage person is a lot more open. I chalked out everything that Hasmukh would want to include in his set, figured a delivery style for him and made it entirely different from what he is off stage. The prep was actually the best part of the show for me. I enjoyed it to bits."## "Hasmukh" is about an ambitious comic on a mission to prove to his mentor that he is a good comedian. Mumbai, April 16 (IANS) Actor Ravi Kishan says it is very important for him to be comfortable with the people he is working with.## He will soon be seen in Netflix's upcoming series "Hasmukh", which is about an ambitious comic on a mission to prove to his mentor that he is a good comedian. Ravi will be seen as Pratap Sinha. Pratap Singh is the head of Alankar TV who flirts with his young secretary but the fact that he is married gets him in trouble at times.## On the first day of the shoot, Ravi arrived 4 hours earlier than the decided call time just to assure that he is comfortable to shoot with the cast and be familiar with the crew at the shoot.## "It is important for me to be comfortable with the people I am working with. Nikkhil Advani: Vir Das will be interesting to watch in 'Hasmukh'

Mumbai, April 9 (IANS) Nikkhil Advani's upcoming show "Hasmukh" features Vir Das as a reluctant killer, and the Bollywood filmmaker says people will be surprised to watch the popular stand-up comedian in his new avatar.## In the trailer of the Netflix show, Vir is a comedian who needs to kill someone before performing on stage. As an individual, he does not like the whole act of killing people, but he has no other way to get the right kick to perform as a comedian on stage. He battles the dilemma.## "I think the audience will find it interesting to watch Vir in that avatar. No one can imagine Vir like that, because even in real life he is a stand-up comedian. He has acted really well. The story is of a reluctant killer. It is a fight between morals and ambitions," Advani said.## The show is directed by Nikhil Gonsalves and also features Ranvir Shorey, Manoj Pahwa, Ravi Kishan, Amrita Bagchi, Suhail Nayyar, Inaamulhaq and Raza Murad.## According to the filmmaker, he always wanted to collaborate with the celebrated stand-up comedian. "Vir and I always wanted to collaborate. He came up with the idea, and I suggested making the story a little darker. So, we developed the script accordingly. We have got a great casting with some of the finest actors. Things just fell in place nicely," said Advani, about the show which releases on April 17.## Asked if digital release is an advantage during the time of lockdown, Advani replied: "It is a big advantage for us that the show is releasing now on Netflix when people are sitting at home and consuming a lot of digital content. Vir Das excited to be back in fiction space with a strange character

Mumbai, April 3 (IANS) Stand-up comedian and actor Vir Das, who is looking forward to his upcoming web series "Hasmukh", says performing in front of a live audience is extremely different from being in a fictional film or series.## In the show, he will be seen as Hasmukh, who works hard to bring a smile to everyone's face.## "Performing in front of a live audience is extremely different from being in a fictional film or series. I'm back on screen playing a strange and unusual character, so I'm excited," Vir said.## The trailer of the show was released on Friday. The series follows the journey of a young man from Saharanpur who wants to be the greatest comedian in the world. While he is a great writer, he lacks comic timing. Padmaavat To Release On 25th Jan 2018 and Aiyaary Shifted To 9th Feb 2018

Movie Padmavat which was title Padmavati in beginning is going to release on 25th January 2018 clashing with movie Padman and movie Aiyaary which was earlier set to release on 26th January 2018 has been shifted to 9th February 2018. ## The movie Padmaavat is based on the Rani Padmini, a legendary Hindu Rajput queen, was the wife of Ratan Sen (also called Rawal Ratan Singh), the Rajput ruler of Mewar. In 1303, Alauddin Khilji, the Turkic ruler of the Delhi Sultanate, laid siege to the Chittor Fort in Rajputana. Khilji led the invasion motivated by his desire to capture Rani Padmini. Rani Padmini is said to have committed Jauhar (self-immolation) along with all the other women of the city to protect their honour. The men of the city stormed out in a final mortal sally to kill as many of the enemy before falling. ## This movie Padmaavat was earlier set to release on 1st December 2017 but because of controversy, it can't get CBFC certificate and was not able to release. ## Movie Padmavat features Deepika Padukone as Padmavati, Shahid Kapoor as Maharawal Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh as Sultan Alauddin Khilji.
