Marvel Studios Scrapped Plans For 'Eternals 2'

Mumbai, August 14 - Marvel Studios has reportedly scrapped plans to develop Eternals 2 after the first movie didn't do well at the box office. The movie was directed by Chloé Zhao and introduced new superheroes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.## While the ending (hailed as one of the best in the MCU) of Eternals suggested the character would return in the sequel, Marvel boss Kevin Feige recently said that there are no immediate plans to make Eternals 2 and now, as per Variety, the studio has dropped plans to develop it.## The news of scrapping Eternals 2 comes from Variety reporting on actor Kit Harington discussing his MCU role. The post-credit scene of Eternals was supposed to set up Kit Harington to appear in Blade along with Mahershala Ali, however, Blade has been delayed multiple times and is presently getting retooled.## Eternals was the 26th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and it starred an ensemble cast including Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, and Angelina Jolie. ## The film met with disappointing critics reviews and above-average audience score. Released in November 2021, the movie grossed $402 million at the worldwide box office, well below Marvel's standards. ## Stay tuned...

'Avengers: Endgame' Director Heaps High Praise On SS Rajamouli's 'RRR'

Mumbai, April 18 - Maverick filmmaker, Joe Russo who has worked on a few record-breaking Marvel movies with his brother Anthony Russo, has heaped high praise on SS Rajamouli's Oscar-winning period action drama film RRR and India being a major market for the world cinema. ## In a conversation with the Hollywood website, Deadline at an International festival in Scotland, Joe Russo heaped praise for Rajamouli's RRR and said, "Certainly a more diverse version and one that's more international", adding that RRR has given huge exposure to the Indian films in international markets. ## "Bollywood, for instance, is one of the more significant film businesses in the world but it has extremely minimal exposure outside of India. Thank God for movies like RRR, using a level of technical genius, visual effects, and mythological storytelling to appeal to a much wider audience. We learn about other cultures from movies like that. So, I guess, our goal would be empowerment. We want to support other markets as much as possible so their stories can get through in a broader way", the Avengers Endgame director said (via DNA). ## The filmmaker previously revealed that he watched "RRR" and absolutely loved it. It stars Ram Charan and Jr. NTR as two real-life Indian revolutionaries named Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, respectively. The film shows how the friendship grows between them and how they fight together to free the country from the rule of the Britishers.## Joe along with his brother Antony has a huge influence over Marvel's audience worldwide, thanks to films like "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", "Avengers Infinity War" and "Avengers Endgame". The duo is currently busy with the promotion of the spy thriller series "Citadel" for Amazon Prime Video. It stars Priyanka Chopra and Richard Madden in the lead and is set to premiere on April 28, 2023.## Stay tuned...

Priyanka Chopra Received Equal Pay To Her Male Co-Stars For Amazon Prime Video's 'Citadel'

Los Angeles, December 8 - India's international star, Priyanka Chopra revealed in an interview with BBC's 100 Women that she has received equal pay to her male co-stars for Amazon Prime Video's upcoming series Citadel. ## This is the first time that Priyanka is getting equal pay in her 20 years of an acting career. She revealed that in Bollywood, she used to get only 10% of what her male co-stars got to star in a movie.## "I've never had pay parity in Bollywood. I would get paid about 10% of the salary of my male co-actor", the actress said. "It [the pay gap] is large, substantially large. And so many women still deal with that. I'm sure I will too if I worked with a male co-actor now in Bollywood". ## Priyanka, who has worked in over 60 Bollywood movies, also revealed that she had also faced sexism and body shaming while working on Bollywood productions. "I thought it was absolutely ok to sit for hours and hours on set, while my male co-actor just took his own time, and decided whenever he wanted to show up on set is when we would shoot".## "I was called 'black cat' and 'dusky'. I mean, what does 'dusky' even mean in a country where we are literally all brown?" Chopra Jonas continued. "I thought I was not pretty enough, I believed that I would have to work a lot harder, even though I thought I was probably a little bit more talented than my fellow actors who were lighter skinned", she added.## Talking about "Citadel", it is a spy actioner from "Avengers: Infinity War" directors Joe and Anthony Russo. The show features an ensemble cast that is headlined by Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden. ## Stay tuned...

Angelina Jolie Calls Her 'Eternals' Character A Troubled Soul

Box Office: Eternals Nabs $71 Million In Domestic Debut; Scores Big At The International BO

Los Angeles, November 8 - Marvel is once again winning the battle at the box office despite the negative critics' reviews. The latest superhero offering, "Eternals", debuted with $71 million in the 3-day weekend at the domestic box office, though it fell short of fellow Marvel pics, "Black Widow" ($80.4M), and "Shang-Chi" ($75.4M). ## "Eternals" scored the 4th biggest opening weekend debut during the covid-19 pandemic era, edging "Fast & Furious 9" ($70M), and James Bond "No Time To Die" ($55.2M). "Venom: Let There Be Carnage", which was made by Sony Pictures but based on a Marvel comic creation, remains on the top spot with $90.1 million at the domestic opening weekend. ## Internationally, "Eternals" took the big opening of $90.7 million, bringing its global haul to an impressive $161.7 million. The superhero film is playing in several major markets including South Korea, the United Kingdom, France, Mexico, India, and Australia. ## Among the top overseas contributors, South Korea is leading with $14.4 million, followed by the United Kingdom ($7.1M), France ($6.7M), Mexico ($5.7M), and Australia ($5M). Marvel Studios' 'Eternals' Banned In Saudi Arabia, Qatar, And Kuwait Over LGBTQ Issues!

Mumbai, November 5 - Marvel Studios' next superhero offering, "Eternals" won't be released in theaters in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Qatar. While the reason behind the ban has not been revealed, a THR report suggests the decision was likely made over the inclusion of a same-sex couple in the film and the MCU's first gay superhero. ## "Eternals", which was due to release in Gulf on November 11, was asked the make some edits by the local censors, but Disney was not willing to make those edits and decided to pull the film from the said countries. In the United Arab Emirates, however, the film is still listed as among the titles coming soon.## Homosexuality is still officially illegal across the Gulf, and films containing anything related to LGBTQ issues are frequently pulled from release. Last year, the Pixar title Onward was banned across Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia over a single line referencing a lesbian relationship.## In "Eternals", one of the scenes shows the character, Phastos (played by Brian Tyree Henry), and his on-screen husband, Ben (Haaz Sleiman), share a passionate kiss.## Directed by Academy Award-Winning director, Chloé Zhao, Eternals stars an ensemble cast including Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Harish Patel, Kit Harington, Salma Hayek, and Angelina Jolie. Part of Phase Four of the MCU, it releases on Nov. 5 in the USA and other countries including India. ## Stay tuned...
