Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' Ticket On Sale for IMAX 70MM Screenings A Year Before Release Date; Sees Excellent Initial Response

Los Angeles, July 17 - After creating history with Oppenheimer (2023), acclaimed director Christopher Nolan will return to the big screen with the epic action fantasy The Odyssey on July 17, 2026, and there is already massive anticipation for it. ## With exactly a year to go before the release, Universal Pictures and Christopher Nolan have already put the movie on advance sale for IMAX theatres that are equipped to screen the epic in 70MM, which is said to be Nolan's format of choice. ## According to The Hollywood Reporter, this is the first time in history that any tickets have gone on sale a year before a film's release. Reportedly, there are around 30 IMAX locations that are capable of playing 70mm film reels, and the bookings for The Odyssey have opened in 26 of them. ## The initial response to the movie is excellent, as expected. The iconic BFI IMAX in London opened the pre-sales for the movie, and in less than 30 minutes, the midnight and 8 PM shows on July 17 are almost sold out. Interestingly, the BFI IMAX doesn't refund tickets in any case. ## About The Odyssey ## The Odyssey follows Odysseus, the legendary Greek king of Ithaca, on his long and perilous journey home following the Trojan War, chronicling his encounters with mythical beings such as the Cyclops Polyphemus, the Sirens, and the witch-goddess Circe, and culminating in his reunion with his wife, Penelope. ## The movie stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, alongside Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and Jon Bernthal, among others, in prominent roles. ## Stay tuned...

'The Batman 2' Release Date Postponed

Los Angeles, December 28 - Warner Bros. Pictures has pushed back director Matt Reeves' The Batman 2 by a year and it will now arrive in 2027. The film is the follow-up to Reeves' The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson in the titular role. ## The superhero sequel was originally supposed to be released on October 2, 2026, but will now shift a year and debut on October 1, 2027, in Imax, Warner Bros. announced on Friday. The production of the film is expected to start next year.## Reeves' The Batman was released in March 2022 and grossed over $772 million at the worldwide box office, including $369 million domestically. It was one of the highest-grossing films of 2022 and the biggest superhero grosser for Warner Bros. post the Covid-19 pandemic. ## Meanwhile, the Alejandro González Iñárritu's directorial an untitled movie with Tom Cruise has taken The Batman 2's original release date. 'The Batman 2' Release Date Postponed By A Year; A New Date Is Locked

Los Angeles, March 13 - Robert Pattinson-led The Batman Part II release date has been postponed by a year and it will now be debuting in theatres in 2026. ## The sequel to director Matt Reeves' superhero movie The Batman was first announced during CinemaCon in April 2022 and in January 2023, the movie was officially scheduled for October 2025 release and has now been pushed back to October 2, 2026. ## According to The Hollywood Reporter, the delay in the film was caused by the writers' strike last year. It is said that the script of the sequel is far from being ready and the movie will only go on floors by early 2025. ## The Batman, which is a reboot of the Batman film franchise, was released in March 2022 and enjoyed a very good run at the box office. DC Studios Unveils First Five Theatrical Films In The New DC Universe

Los Angeles, February 1 - The DC Universe is getting completely rebooted under the new co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran. Three months after Warner Bros. Discovery hired Gunn and Safran as Co-Chairmen and CEOs of DC Studios, the new studio tapped with overseeing all DC film, TV, animation, and game projects going forward.## James Gunn had promised that the new DC Universe slate would be announced in January 2023, and as it is, the studio finally unveiled its two-chapter plan for the future DCU. The first chapter is named "Gods and Monsters". ## The studio has unveiled 10 projects, including 5 theatrical tentpoles in its first chapter. These projects are different from the already announced or in-production films and shows. The new slate will focus on the already-established DC Characters as well as the new heroes. ## Have a look at the MOVIES which are announced in the chapter - ## Superman: Legacy ## "Superman: Legacy" will mark the start of the DCU but it will not be an origin story of the proverbial Man of Steel. "It focuses on Superman balancing his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing", Safran said. "He is the embodiment of truth, justice, and the American way. He is kindness in a world that thinks of kindness as old-fashioned". ## James Gunn is writing the script and he might direct it as well. The movie will open in theaters on 11 July 2025. ## The Authority ## "This is one of my real passion projects", Gunn said. "I've been working really hard on it with the writers and we’re starting to put together the entire story. This is a big movie". "Superman: Legacy" will lead directly into "The Authority", a very different kind of story about superhumans who have a less-than-idealistic approach to saving the world.## "They are basically good-intentioned, but they think that the world is completely broken and the only way to fix it is to take things into their own hands, whether that means killing people, destroying heads of state, changing governments—basically, whatever they want to do to make the world better. We’ll see how that journey goes for them", Gunn revealed, adding that the movie is currently being written. ## The Brave and the Bold ## This is the introduction of the DCU's Batman which is different from Robert Pattinson's "The Batman – Part II" with director Matt Reeves. It will feature the extended Bat Family.## "The Brave and the Bold" is the story of Damian Wayne, who's Bruce Wayne's biological son, a fact unknown to Wayne for the first eight to 10 years of Damian's life. He was raised as a little murderer and assassin. "It's a very strange sort of father-son story about the two of them", Gunn said. ## Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow ## This is based on Tom King's (and Bilquis Evely's) wonderful comic. "Woman of Tomorrow" features Superman's cousin, Kara Zor-El, who is a very different type of Supergirl. ## "We see the difference between Superman, who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant, versus Supergirl, who was raised on a rock chip off of Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life". ## Gunn revealed that "Woman of Tomorrow" will be much harder supergirl than we have been used to thus far. ## Swamp Thing ## This is a film that will investigate the dark origins of Swamp Thing. According to Variety, both Joaquin Phoenix and director Todd Phillips will be paid a massive $20 million each to return to star and direct the movie. Meanwhile, Lady Gaga has been roped to play the iconic Harley Quinn in "Joker 2", and she will be getting $10 million for the same. ## The final cost of making the movie is expected to reach $150 million, including salaries, combined with the cost of producing complicated musical sequences. Warner Bros. To Apply Marvel's Plan For DC Films

Los Angeles, August 5 - There are a lot of things going on with Warner Bros. regarding the studio's future roadmap and it seems, the studio has its plans going forward as far as DC films are concerned under the new CEO David Zaslav at Warner Bros. Discovery. ## Warner Bros. recently canceled the release of the HBO Max film "Batgirl" and has defended it saying "We’re not going to put a movie out unless we believe in it". It is clearly visible that under Zaslav, Warner Bros. is looking to boost its theatrical business model and the CEO claimed to have a 10-year plan for the same. ## "You look at Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman — these are brands that are known everywhere in the world. We have done a reset. We've restructured the business where we are going to focus, where there is going to be a team with a 10-year plan focusing just on DC. We believe we can build a much more sustainable business", Zaslav said during an earnings call Thursday (via THR)## Warner Bros. is seen as a rival of Marvel Studios in Hollywood though the latter is far ahead of the former one. Marvel never lagged behind anyone in producing blockbuster titles and the studio already keeps plans for the future. DC is now looking to emulate the success of the Disney-owned Marvel Studios, which Kevin Feige has built into the highest-grossing film franchise in history. ## According to THR, CEO David Zaslav has been advised by Feige's former boss, retired Disney film chief Alan Horn to apply the Marvel playbook model for DC films. ## "It's very similar to the structure Alan Horn, [former Disney CEO] Bob Iger and Kevin Feige put together very effectively at Disney. We think we can build a much stronger, sustainable growth business out of DC", said Zaslav. "As part of that, we are going to focus on quality. We are not going to release any film before it's ready. DC is something we can make better".## After the cancellation of "Batgirl", there are at least 5 films already under production at DC Extended Universe. The movies include "Black Adam", "Shazam!
