Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR's War 2 vs YRF Spy Universe: Opening Day Box Office Battle Bollywood

Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR's War 2 vs YRF Spy Universe: Opening Day Box Office Battle

Mumbai, August 13 - The Spy Universe from Aditya Chopra's Yash Raj Films has completed over a decade with five blockbuster titles during this time. The studio has delivered many iconic blockbusters, from romantic to family dramas, and action entertainers, but Spy Universe is a whole new world altogether, with some of the biggest blockbusters coming from it. ## The YRF Spy Universe has delivered some of Bollywood's biggest opening days, and with the upcoming War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR, the franchise is once again in the spotlight. The film has generated significant attention as it marks the first collaboration between North and South in the spy universe. ## Despite the powerhouse collaboration, the film opened lower than initial expectations. The opening of this spy action thriller is still big enough to set the base for an excellent Independence Day opening weekend (if WOM is positive), but as far as Spy Universe is concerned, War 2 debuted lower than Salman Khan's Ek Tha Tiger, making it the lowest opener in the spy universe. ## Have A Look At The Opening Day India Net Collection of Spy Universe Films (Hindi)Movie TitleYearDay 1 CollectionChange (%) From Last FilmEk Tha Tiger2012₹ 32.93 Cr-Tiger Zinda Hai2017₹ 34.10 Cr+3.55%War2019₹ 51.60 Cr+51.32%Pathaan2023₹ 55.00 Cr+6.59%Tiger 32023₹ 43.00 Cr-21.82%War 22025₹ 29.00 Cr-32.56%## Since its inception with Ek Tha Tiger in 2012, the franchise has steadily grown in scale and box office impact. Tiger Zinda Hai in 2017 slightly upped the game with the bigger opening, but the real jump came in 2019 when War, featuring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff, exploded with 50+ crore debut, setting a new record. ## In 2023, Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan pushed the ceiling even higher by becoming the biggest opener in the Spy Universe. Later that same year, Tiger 3 also made a strong impact, but failed to beat Pathaan and War. Against this backdrop, War 2 (2025) was expected to open around 35 crore net in India, but it failed to do so. ## The road to record-breaking glory is not without hurdles. The film faces stiff competition from Rajinikanth's Coolie, which dominated pre-release hype and advance sales. Additionally, while Jr. NTR's inclusion has boosted appeal in Telugu-speaking markets; the Hindi belt response has been more measured compared to past Spy Universe entries. ## Stay tuned...

Additional Runtime For The Post-Credit Scene of Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR's War 2? Cameo Details Revealed

Mumbai, August 8 - Yash Raj Films' spy action thriller War 2 is set to be the longest film in the Spy Universe with the theatrical runtime of 2 hours and 53 minutes, beating Salman Khan's Tiger Zinda Hai (2 hours and 42 minutes). However, there might be an additional runtime for the upcoming blockbuster. ## According to the report by Mid-Day, the Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR-starrer was originally censored by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on August 6, with an approved runtime of 183 minutes. However, YRF has submitted for re-conser with a new runtime of 173 minutes. ## The shorter theatrical cut is now reportedly much more aligned with the makers' original vision. It is said that the team didn't want to compromise on the pace of the Ayan Mukerji-directed film, especially in the second half. To deliver a tighter, more gripping film, it was reportedly decided by the team that they would edit the film further and resubmit. ## Meanwhile, there have been blockbuster reports about the War 2's post-credit scene. It has been confirmed that Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh from YRF's next spy universe film, Alpha, will feature in the post-credit scene. However, rumours are rife that Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan and Salman Khan's Tiger will also appear in the end credits, but it hasn't been confirmed by reliable sources. ## Mid-Day, however, reports that the makers will submit the post-credit scene separately for certification this week, so the final runtime of the movie is expected to exceed 3 hours, hinting at how crucial this bonus scene might be. The post-credit sequence, much like Pathaan and Tiger 3, is designed to expand the cinematic universe.## The film is scheduled to release on August 14 in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil. ## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, August 5 - Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is gearing up to start shooting for the director Apoorva Lakhia's war action thriller Battle of Galwan this month. It will start with a 30-day schedule in Ladakh. But before starting the shoot, the superstar is busy discussing his next films. ## According to the latest report by Pinkvilla, the Bajrangi Bhaijaan star's next movie after Battle of Galwan could be a period action thriller with Malayalam director Mahesh Narayanan. The duo has already done 4-5 meetings, and things are said to be in the advanced stage. ## "Salman Khan and Mahesh Narayanan have been jamming on multiple ideas, and Salman has given a go-ahead to the filmmaker on a period thriller with action. The film in discussion will be set in the 1970s to 1990s, and Mahesh will now come back for a full-length narration soon", said the report. ## After doing routine masala entertainers, Salman is looking to explore new genres now, which challenge him in his next films. Ahaan Pandey, Aneet Padda's Saiyaara Hits 300 Crore India Net; Beats Salman Khan's Sultan and Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone's Padmaavat

Mumbai, August 5 - Yash Raj Films' romantic blockbuster Saiyaara, starring debutantes Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda, has achieved a historic milestone by crossing 300 crores net collection at the domestic box office, becoming the first Indian love story to enter the coveted club. ## Directed by Mohit Suri, the film has achieved the milestone on its 18th day (third Monday) with an approximate collection of 2.50 crores. This pushed the film's total India net to around 302.25 crores. With this feat, Saiyaara has now become the 18th Hindi-language film to cross 300 crores net in India.## Saiyaara has surpassed the lifetime India net collections of superstar Salman Khan's Sultan (300.45 crores) and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's epic Padmaavat (302.15 crores), which featured Shahid Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, and Deepika Padukone. On its 19th day, it will go past War 2 (303.34 crores), starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff, to become the 15th biggest Hindi net grosser of all time. ## Despite its phenomenal success, Saiyaara has seen a dip in momentum due to the release of new films and the ongoing dominance of the animated epic Mahavatar Narsimha. These factors have led to a reduction in its show count, making its entry into the 400 crore club highly unlikely. However, the film still has an outside chance of finishing with over 350 crores net in India. ## If Saiyaara does manage to touch or cross the 350 crore mark, it will solidify its place as the 11th biggest Hindi net-grosser ever — a landmark achievement for a film led by two newcomers and driven by youthful romance. The success story of Saiyaara is not only a major box office triumph for YRF but also a significant turning point for fresh talent in Bollywood. ## Stay tuned...

Director AR Murugadoss Gives a Weird Reason For The Box Office Failure of Salman Khan-fronted Sikandar

Mumbai, July 31 - Tamil director AR Murugadoss returned to Hindi cinema after 9 years with superstar Salman Khan-fronted action drama Sikandar. However, the filmmaker's grand return didn't bring desired results as the film flopped at the box office, finishing under 200 crores gross collection worldwide. ## The film was panned by critics and audiences alike, and now, Murugadoss has come up with a weird and unwanted reason to justify the failure of the movie. During the promotion of his upcoming film Madharaasi, the filmmaker spoke about Sikandar and said that it failed due to the language barrier. ## He revealed that working on Sikandar felt like being at a disadvantage, as he described it as feeling "handicapped" on set due to his inability to understand Hindi fluently, saying he often didn't understand what was happening around him. ## "When we make films in our mother tongue, it gives us strength. We know what is happening here. Today, there's a trend going and suddenly the audience gets connected with that trend. When we shift language, we don't know what the youngsters are enjoying in that language. All we need is a script to believe it", he said. ## He further explained, "For once, I can take up Telugu films, but Hindi may not work for us because after we write the script, they translate it into English. Then it is again translated into Hindi. We can only guess what they are saying, but we are not exactly sure about what is happening. When you make a film in an unknown language and place, it feels like you are handicapped. It is like you don't have hands. I strongly believe our strength depends on where and which culture we come from". ## It is weird that Murugadoss has come up with this silly reason of not understanding Hindi. Before Sikandar, the director previously helmed three Hindi films, and two of them (Ghajini and Holiday) became blockbusters. It proves that his language excuse doesn't fully hold up — it's more about how prepared and empowered a filmmaker feels in a new environment. ## Stay tuned...

Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR's War 2 Dominates Rajinikanth's Coolie in Theatrical Runtime, as YRF's Production Set to be the Longest Film in Spy Universe, beating Salman Khan's Tiger Zinda Hai

Mumbai, July 30 - Ahead of the mega box office clash this Independence Day weekend, the theatrical runtimes for two of the biggest upcoming Indian films — YRF Spy Universe's War 2 and Rajinikanth-fronted Coolie — have reportedly been revealed, and the comparison is already making waves. ## The Hrithik Roshan, Jr. NTR, and Kiara Advani-starrer War 2 has reportedly been censored with a U/A certificate with an approved runtime of 2 hours and 53 minutes (173 minutes). War 2's runtime has beaten Salman Khan's Tiger Zinda Hai (162 minutes) to become the longest film in the YRF Spy Universe. ## Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the sequel is expected to be a high-octane cinematic experience that delves deeper into the emotional and espionage layers of the YRF Spy Universe. It also stars Kiara Advani alongside Anil Kapoor and others in key roles. ## On the other hand, Rajinikanth's Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is not far behind War 2 as it is reported to have a runtime of approximately 170 minutes (2 hours and 50 minutes). It received an A certificate from the CBFC, which makes it the first A-rated title for director Lokesh Kanagaraj. ## While slightly shorter, Coolie is expected to be packed with stylised action, Lokesh's signature dark world-building, and Rajinikanth's unmatched screen presence — ensuring no moment goes to waste. Coolie's tighter length could point to a sleek, relentless pace in keeping with Lokesh's successful formula from Vikram and Kaithi. ## With War 2 taking the lead in terms of runtime, fans are speculating whether this extra duration allows for deeper storytelling or more explosive action set-pieces involving two of Indian cinema's biggest stars — Hrithik and Jr. NTR. ## Both films are set for massive theatrical releases on August 14 and are among the most anticipated Indian movies globally. Whether audiences prefer the grandeur of a nearly three-hour spy saga or the tight punch of a gritty action drama, only time will tell which runtime delivers the bigger impact at the box office. ## Stay tuned...

Directed by Ayan Mukerji, it is the sixth film in YRF's Spy Universe. ## War 2 is said to be the most ambitious film in Spy Verse. The big scale, however, comes with a high cost, and War 2 is no different. ## According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, War 2 is made on a budget of 400 crores, which makes it the costliest Spy film in India, surpassing the budget of Salman Khan's Tiger 3 (350 crores) and Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan (325 crores). Jr. NTR, on the other hand, gets the pay cheque of 70 crores, while Kiara Advani gets 15 crores. ## Anil Kapoor, who hasn't made any appearance in the teaser and trailer so far, reportedly walks away with a 10 crore fee. Apart from the actor's fee of around 150 crores, director Ayan Mukerji is getting a hefty cheque of 30 crores, and the remaining 220 crores have been invested in mounting the massive scale of the film. ## About The War 2 Movie ## War 2 is directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films. The movie stars Hrithik Roshan, who reprises his role from the first movie, Jr. NTR as a special unit officer, and Kiara Advani in the leading roles. The film will be released on August 14 in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil, 2D and major premium formats, including Dolby Cinemas and IMAX. ## Stay tuned...

Box Office: Ahaan Pandey, Aneet Padda's Saiyaara Surpasses Lifetime Collection of Salman Khan's Sikandar In 5 Days; Becomes 5th Biggest Bollywood Grosser of 2025 Worldwide

Mumbai, July 23 - Yash Raj Films' Saiyaara is carving its own way at the box office and downing top star films with each passing day. The romantic drama is trending very much similar to Vicky Kaushal's historical epic Chhaava, which went on to become one of the biggest blockbusters of Indian cinema. ## Saiyaara has a huge first Tuesday at the worldwide box office ## After an impressive weekend haul of 117 crores worldwide, followed by a rock-solid 34 crores gross on Monday, Saiyaara did the unthinkable on Tuesday — it grew further. On its fifth day, the film collected an estimated 30 crores gross domestically and 7 crores overseas, bringing in a total of 37 crores for the day. ## This takes the film's 5-day worldwide total to approximately 188 crores gross, including 158 crores from India and 30 crores from overseas markets. ## Saiyaara crossed Salman Khan's Sikandar, becomes 5th biggest Bollywood grosser of 2025 ## With its latest earnings, Saiyaara has officially surpassed the lifetime worldwide total of superstar Salman Khan's Sikandar (185 crores), becoming the 5th highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2025. It now trails only behind Raid 2, Sitaare Zameen Par, Housefull 5, and Chhaava. ## The Mohit Suri directorial had earlier eclipsed the full collections of Akshay Kumar's Sky Force (150 crores) and Kesari: Chapter 2 (145 crores) within just 4 days, debuting at No. 6 before moving up a rank on Day 5. Overall, after the 5th day. Saiyaara is the 9th biggest Indian grosser of 2025 worldwide. ## Saiyaara to cross 200 crores worldwide in 6 days ## The momentum shows no signs of slowing down as Saiyaara is expected to collect another 20-25 crores gross worldwide on Day 6, which will push its worldwide total past the 200 crores mark. It will become the fastest Bollywood film led by newcomers to enter the 200-crore club and among the quickest non-pan-India films ever to achieve the feat. ## Stay tuned...

Box Office: Saiyaara Scored Big First Monday Worldwide; Crosses Lifetime Collection of Akshay Kumar's Kesari 2 and Sky Force In 4 Days

Mumbai, July 22 - Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda’s romantic drama Saiyaara continues its dream run at the box office. After delivering a historic opening weekend, the film held firm on its first Monday, scoring the joint biggest first Monday of the year with Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava, domestically. ## Directed by Mohit Suri, Saiyaara netted approximately 24 crore (28 crore gross) in India on Monday, bringing its 4-day India total to 107.25 crore net (approx. 128 crore gross). The movie also had an excellent day at the overseas box office, bringing 6 crores on Monday for a total international collection of around 23 crores. With an additional ₹26 crore coming from the overseas markets, Saiyaara has now amassed an impressive ₹161 crore gross worldwide in just four days. ## Saiyaara beats lifetime worldwide collection of Kesari: Chapter 2 and Sky Force ## After four days, the Yash Raj Films production has grossed approximately 151 crores, which is enough to top the lifetime worldwide grosses of Akshay Kumar's Sky Force and Kesari 2, which earned 150 crores and 145 crores, respectively. ## That makes Saiyaara not just a breakout debut for its newcomers but also one of the fastest Bollywood films to outpace the global lifetime collections of star-driven titles this year. The Monday hold was particularly noteworthy as it signals solid word-of-mouth. Despite being a non-franchise and a newcomer-led film, Saiyaara has already become the 6th biggest Bollywood grosser of the year. ## By today or tomorrow, the latest blockbuster will also outgross Salman Khan's Sikandar (185 crores) to become the 5th biggest grosser of the year. With minimal competition until August 1st, Saiyaara will remain the top choice of moviegoers at the Hindi box office. ## Stay tuned...

'Saiyaara' Scored Second Biggest Advance Booking For Bollywood In 2025; Eyes 25 Crore Net Opening Day

Mumbai, July 18 - Yash Raj Films' romantic drama Saiyaara hits the big screen today after scoring the second biggest advance booking of the year for a Bollywood title, beating the big budget titles like Salman Khan's Sikandar and Akshay Kumar's Housefull 5. ## Directed by Mohit Suri and starring Ahaan Pandey and Aneeth Padda in their big screen debut, the pre-sales of Saiyaara have stunned one and all. ## Saiyaara Sold Second Best Advance Tickets For Bollywood In 2025 ## The film has sold approximately 195,000 tickets on its first day at the three national chains (PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis), which is the second-highest of the year, behind Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava (225,000 tickets). Overall, Saiyaara has sold approximately 380,000 tickets nationwide for the opening day, which is again the second-best. ## In terms of advance booking gross collection, Saiyaara (9.40 crores) is the third among the 2025 Bollywood movies, behind Chhaava (13.80 crores) and Sikandar (10.10 crores). It is probably the biggest pre-sales ever for an Indian movie featuring newcomers. ## Saiyaara Eyes 25 Crore Net Opening Day Collection ## The box office projections for the movie have kept getting changed with each passing hour, and the reason being is the strong advance booking momentum. Before the bookings opened, the movie was projected to open in the range of 5-6 crores, but the projection quickly went up to double digits after the initial response. ## Considering how the advances have progressed, the film is now looking to open in the range of 20-25 crores net, with the strong possibility of opening around the higher end of the projection. Trade experts also believe the opening can be much higher, simply because the film has momentum with it, which might overcome even the optimistic projection, which needs to be seen. ## Stay tuned...

Saiyaara First Day Advance Booking Beats Final Advance Ticket Sales of Housefull 5 and Raid 2 At The National Chains

Mumbai, July 17 - Yash Raj Films' romantic drama Saiyaara, starring two newcomers Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda, continues to surprise with its advance booking trend. The movie seemingly had a low buzz on social media, but the booking trend is not resonating with that. ## The Mohit Suri's directorial is putting all the pre-release talks in the dustbin and has sold 1,20,000 tickets at the three national chains (PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis) with still 12 hours left for the first show to begin, according to Himesh Mankad of Himesh Mankad of Pinkvilla. This is a historical booking for a movie featuring unknown faces. ## As of 12 PM, the film has sold around 90,000 tickets in PVR+INOX and around 30,000 tickets in Cinepolis for the first day. The final ticket sale count in PIC is expected to be around 1.75-2 lakh, which is phenomenal to say the least. ## Saiyaara Beats Housefull 5 and Raid 2 Final Advance Ticket Count At The National Chains ## Such has been the response that Saiyaara has beaten the final ticket sale count of Akshay Kumar's Housefull 5 and Ajay Devgn's Raid 2, even before the first show begin. Housefull 5 had sold approximately 95,000 tickets, while Raid 2 sold 93,000 tickets at national chains for the first day. ## The movie is now on track to beat Salman Khan's Sikandar, which sold around 1,43,000 tickets. Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava is currently the biggest pre-sales scorer for Bollywood in 2025, with around 2,25,000 tickets in PIC, and Saiyaara will be close to it by the end of the day, if not able to surpass the figure. ## Saiyaara Opening Day Box Office Expecatations ## The Hindi film industry is bracing up for an unexpected big opening, and no one has any answer as to why the movie has suddenly become the hot topic in the trade. With this sort of pre-sales, a 20 crore net opening is given, but the size of the release is not as big as some of the other movies with similar kinds of sales data. ## There is buzz in the industry that YRF is looking to increase the screens after seeing the excellent response in the pre-sales. According to Himesh Mankad of Pinkvilla, the film is aiming to release on 1750 screens nationwide, with the possibility to go higher as well. If this happens, then a 20 crore net opening is certain, which remains to be seen. ## Stay tuned...
