Randeep Hooda Cast To Play Title Role In Mahesh Manjrekar's 'Swatantra Veer Savarkar'
Mumbai, March 23 - Yet another challenging role awaits for the talented actor, Randeep Hooda, who has been cast to play the title role in filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar's "Swatantra Veer Savarkar". ## The 45-year old actor, who impressed one and all in the 2016's biographical drama film "Sarbjit", will now portray the freedom fighter V.D. Savarkar in the upcoming biopic, which was announced last year in May. The film will highlight India's freedom movement from a different spectrum and will be shot across various locations in London, Maharashtra, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands from June this year. ## "There are many heroes that have played their part in getting us our Independence. However, not everyone has got their due. Vinayak Damodar Savarkar is the most misunderstood, debated, and influential of these unsung heroes and his story must be told", Hooda said in a statement. ## The "Highway" actor will be reuniting with producer Sandip Ssingh for this film after their first collaboration on "Sarbjit". "I am delighted to collaborate with Sandeep after 'Sarabjit', for 'Swatantra Veer Savarkar'. It will be yet another challenging role to portray", the actor added. ## Written by Mahesh Manjrekar along with Rishi Virmani, "Swatantra Veer Savarkar" has been in post-production for the last few months. It is produced by Anand Pandit from Anand Pandit Motion Pictures and Sandeep Singh and Sam Khan from Legend Studios and is co-produced by Roopa Pandit and Jay Pandya. ## Lauding the acting talent Randeep Hooda has, producer Sandeep Singh said, "There are very few actors in India who can create magic with his talent, and Randeep is one amongst them. Considering Veer Savarkar as one of the most controversial characters in Indian history, I could only think of Randeep. "Veer Savarkar's contribution cannot be ignored, I wonder why our history books never mentioned Veer Savarkar?"## Stay tuned...
