Akshay Kumar's Psychological Crime Thriller 'Cuttputlli' Is Trending At Number 1 On Disney Plus Hotstar, As Per Producers

Mumbai, September 4 - Akshay Kumar-fronted psychological crime thriller film Cuttputlli, directed by Ranjit M. Tewari, has the number 1 movie on Disney Plus Hotstar, according to Pooja Entertainment. It is a remake of the 2018 Tamil film "Ratsasan" and stars Akshay Kumar, Rakul Preet Singh, Joshua LeClair, Chandrachur Singh, and Sargun Mehta in key roles. ## "Cuttputlli" was released directly on Disney Plus Hotstar on September 2 after the makers decided to forgo a theatrical release for the movie. This move seems to have paid off as it is trending at the top since the first day across the country, however, Disney hasn't revealed the viewership numbers to claim the fact. ## The film is about an aspiring filmmaker who becomes a police officer after his father's death and investigates the murder of school girls. It reunites Akshay Kumar with his "Bell Bottom" team including director Tewari and producer Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, and Deepshikha Deshmukh of Pooja Entertainment. ## Meanwhile, Akshay will next be seen in magnum opus "Ram Setu", which is scheduled to release on Diwali 2022. Mumbai, August 20 - Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar was at peak of his game before the covid-19 pandemic stopped the world. Since the resumption of cinemas post-pandemic, things have taken a drastic change most Bollywood films have failed to create the same magic as it was before the pandemic. ## Akshay Kumar too has released five films in theaters in the last 8-9 months but only "Sooryavanshi" turned out to be a box office hit while the other four films have failed to keep up with the reputation Akshay carries at the box office. However, unlike many others, Khiladi Kumar is not hesitating in accepting where he is going wrong. ## During the trailer launch event of his upcoming film "Cuttputlli" on Saturday (August 20), the actor opened up about his movies not working well at the box office. Chandigarh, May 29 - Punjabi movie Saunkan Saunkne is on the verge of creating history at the box office. The Ammy Virk, Sargun Mehta, and Nimrat Khaira-starrer romantic-comedy film has entered the coveted 50 crores gross mark worldwide, is only the 5th Punjabi movie ever to reach the milestone. ## Directed by Amarjit Singh Saron, the summer blockbuster has grossed 52 crores through 3rd Sunday. At the Indian box office, it has minted 32 crores while overseas, "Saunkan Saunkne" scored 20 crores, including approx. 13 crores at the USA and Canada box office. It is the first-ever 50 crores grosser of each of Ammy Virk, Sargun Mehta, and Nimrat Khaira. ## Produced by Sargun Mehta under her banner Dreamiyata Pvt. Ltd in association with Naad SStudios, and JR Production House, "Saunkan Saunkne" is in the race to become the highest-grossing Punjabi movie of all time. Mumbai, May 23 - Punjabi blockbuster "Saunkan Saunkne" has completed the second weekend at the box office with flying colors. The Ammy Virk, Sargun Mehta, and Nimrat Khaira-starrer movie had scored an excellent first week at the worldwide box office with Rs. 30.10 crores gross. ## Directed by Amarjit Singh Saron, the movie continued to be strong at the domestic box office and minted a very good Rs. 5.50 crores net in the second weekend. The weekend to weekend drop is just 43%, which is a phenomenal hold for a regional movie. At the overseas box office, it scored approx. 2.50 crores gross in the second weekend, taking the total worldwide collection to approx. 39 crores in just 10 days. ## "Saunkan Saunkne", produced by Naad Sstudios, JR Production House, and Dreamiyata, has also become the 6th highest-grossing Punjabi film of all time. The comedy-drama movie should be able to break into the top 5 as it might reach the 50 crores mark by the end of its run. Until now, only 4 Punjabi movies have reached the 50 crores gross mark at the worldwide box office, and "Saunkan Saunkne" could become the 5th on the list. ## While "Saunkan Saunkne" has had a record-breaking box office run so far, Marathi film "Dharmaveer" too is showing strong legs. It had minted Rs. 13.87 crores net in the opening week. Amid the biggies taking the center stage, the Punjabi movie "Saunkan Saunkne" and Marathi film "Dharmaveer" stood apart and scored blockbuster opening week. ## "Saunkan Saunkne", starring Ammy Virk, Sargun Mehta, and Nimrat Khaira in the leading roles, scored the second-highest opening week ever for a Punjabi movie with 16.40 crores net. "Shadaa" remains the biggest grosser with approx. 17 crore net. ## Directed by Amarjit Singh Saron, "Saunkan Saunkne" started excellently well and scored the biggest opening weekend with 9.65 crores net. The movie held really well over the weekdays, in fact, it was better than Bollywood biggie "Jayeshbhai Jordaar" in the first week, which is a phenomenal achievement for regional film. Box Office: Punjabi Movie 'Saunkan Saunkne' Scored A Blockbuster Opening Weekend

Chandigarh, May 16 - The Punjabi film industry is shining bright like never before with back-to-back blockbusters over the past few months. After testing the recent success with Honsla Rakh, Qismat 2, and Chal Mera Putt 2, the latest romantic-comedy film, Saunkan Saunkne, has set an all-time record for a Punjabi movie on the opening weekend. ## Directed by Amarjit Singh Saron, who also directed the last year's blockbuster Honsla Rakh, Saunkan Saunkne scored 9.65 crores net in its opening weekend, which is the highest-ever for a Punjabi movie. The film beat the record of Shadaa (2019) which had collected 9.15 crore net in the first weekend.## Saunkan Saunkne, starring Ammy Virk, Sargun Mehta, and Nimrat Khaira, grew over the weekend after taking the opening of 2.25 crores net. The movie received excellent reviews which helped it to jump approx. 47% on Saturday for 3.30 crores net. On Sunday, the movie was at its peak and scored 4.10 crores which is probably the highest single-day box office collection for a Punjabi film. ## At the overseas box office, Saunkan Saunkne has scored Rs 6.90 crores gross in the first weekend, taking the total worldwide collection of the film to 18.10 crores gross. There was a time about 6-7 years ago when Punjabi movies used to earn blockbuster status with a lifetime collection of 4-5 crores, and now, tripling it in the opening weekend itself, is really heartening to see. ## The movie is produced by Sargun Mehta, Ravi Dubey, and Jatin Sethi, and distributed by Zee Studios.
