Los Angeles, Jan 18 (IANS) Actor Andrew Garfield, who dated Emma Stone after they met on the sets of 'The Amazing Spider-Man', has shared the reaction the actress had after he lied about his return as the superhero in 'Spider-Man: No Way Home'.## The British actor revealed that Stone kept on texting him about whether the rumours of his involvement in the new film were true, reports aceshowbiz.com.## "Emma kept on texting me. She was like, 'Are you in this new Spider-Man film?'" he recalled. "And I was like, 'I don't know what you're talking about'", the Golden Globe winner admitted.## He continued: "She was like, 'Shut up. Just tell me'. I'm like, 'I honestly don't know' - I kept it going, even with her".## After Stone watched 'No Way Home' and found out the truth, she was understandably upset with her former boyfriend. Garfield shared: "And then she saw it. She was like, 'You're a jerk'".## He had numerous times denied that he would reprise his role as Spider-Man in 'No Way Home' before it hit theatres.## "I heard about it. And I did see it. And it's Photoshop", he said on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' in September 2021 after a leaked photo showed him wearing the suit again.## He further explained his position with the project: "I think that Tom Holland is just the perfect Peter Parker and Spider-Man, so I am super stoked. I get to just be a fan again, which is my preferred position.## "To be able to sit in the audience and kind of go, 'Yeah, you screwed up, mate. You didn't do it as well as you could have done, eh?' I get to be that guy that's just like, 'Yeah, I don't really love the suit'".## In a recent interview with TheWrap, the 38-year-old actor admitted it was "stressful" to lie to the media.## "It was stressful, I'm not gonna lie. It was rather stressful but also weirdly enjoyable. The superhero movie is heading towards a $1 billion overseas box office, that too without a single penny from China. ## The Tom Holland-fronted film has so far grossed $926.3 million through 63 international markets and over $700 million domestically (North America), pushing global cume to $1.62 billion. It is currently the 8th highest-grossing film of all time at the worldwide box office and will grab the 6th spot in the list by the end of next weekend.## Meanwhile, "No Way Home" has become the highest-grossing film of all time in Mexico with $72 million. In Brazil, it is the second highest-grossing film ever with $50.4 million, so in Central America ($12.6M) and Ecuador ($7.9M).## In North America, "Spider-Man: No Way Home" becomes the 4th highest-grossing film ever. After the end of the 5th weekend, it was the 5th biggest-grosser there with $698.7 million and became 4th biggest on Monday by crossing Marvel Studios' "Black Panther" ($700.06 million). ## The Jon Watts-directed is likely to finish with $1.75 billion globally. Los Angeles, Jan 11 (IANS) 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' may be shattering one box-office record after another and generating a healthy Oscar buzz, but there's one award that the Tom Holland-starrer definitely won't be picking up this awards season: a BAFTA, reports 'Variety'.## The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has announced that the movie won't be considered for any awards after failing to meet "eligibility criteria".## A spokesperson for BAFTA said: "'Spider-Man: No Way Home' did not meet the eligibility criteria for the EE British Academy Film Awards 2022 and therefore did not qualify for entry.## "As outlined in our rulebook, all films must be made available to voting members on BAFTA View prior to Round One voting closing to ensure fairness and parity for all titles, and the film was not made available by the distributor".## Round One closed on January 3. On BAFTA View, there is a 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' page for members' consideration, with a description of the film; however, 'Variety' understands that the film itself was never made available to view. With a $1.53 billion global cume, "No Way Home" is now the 8th highest-grossing film of all time. Mumbai, January 3 - Tom Holland's "Spider-Man: No Way Home" becomes only the 3rd Hollywood film to reach Rs. 200 crores (Rs. 202.34 cr) net in India, after "Avengers: Endgame" (Rs.373.05 cr), and "Avengers: Infinity War" (Rs. 228.50 cr). Interestingly, all three films belong to Marvel, which is the most loved movie brand in India. ## The finale of Holland's Home Coming trilogy, "No Way Home" has given a new lease of life to India's exhibition sector. It is only the second title of 2021 to reach Rs. 200 crores net mark, after Telugu blockbuster "Pushpa - The Rise", which was released a day after "No Way Home" on December 17, and currently stands at Rs. 207 crores India net. ## "No Way Home", meanwhile, opened to the third biggest box office numbers in India for a 2021's title. It netted Rs. 32.67 crores on the first day, and went on to register Rs. 108.27 crores (Rs. 138.63 cr. gross) over the extended 4-day opening weekend, followed by Rs. 148.07 crores net (Rs. 188.04 crores gross) for a full first week. ## From the second weekend onwards, "No Way Home" faced stiff competition from sports biopic, "83", especially in the multiplexes. However, despite the competition, the superhero movie did very well to stay afloat and generate Rs. 41.60 crores net in the second week. It continued to invite footfalls over the new year's weekend and score Rs. 12.67 crores in the 3rd weekend, for a total India net to Rs. 202.34 crores, and Rs. 256.97 crores gross for all languages (English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu). ## "Spider-Man: No Way Home" is likely to extend its strong run at the Indian box office since there is no big release until Ajith Kumar's blockbuster "Valimai" on Jan. 13. Mumbai, December 29 - Marvel/Sony's "Spider-Man: No Way Home", which introduces the multiverse concept in the MCU, has opened up many possibilities and crossovers in future MCU projects. The fans, however, are eagerly waiting for a crossover of two archenemies, Venom, and Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. ## Since Venom isn't an official part of the MCU, the two marvel comic book characters haven't come face-to-face in the films. ICYDK, the Venom symbiote's first human host was Spider-Man himself, who eventually discovered its true nefarious nature and separated himself from the creature, as per the comic book series, "The Amazing Spider-Man" (1984). ## However, it looks like the wait will end soon, and the fans will finally get to see Venom fighting Spider-Man. As per the latest reports, "Venom 3" will explore the multiverse which will lead Venom and Spider-Man to take on each other. The much-awaited crossover was also hinted at in the end credit scenes of "Spider-Man: No Way Home", and "Venom: Let There Be Carnage".## According to CBR, an industry scooper Daniel Richtman revealed that Venom 3 will "explore the multiverse" as well as show "Venom finally meeting and fighting Spider-Man." Part of the genesis for this theory was the end-credits scene of Spider-Man: No Way Home, which saw a dimensionally displaced Eddie Brock trying to understand the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. ## Meanwhile, Andrew Garfield, who marked his comeback as Spider-Man in "No Way Home", will reportedly fight Venom in "Venom 3". The Spider-Man film is doing it without getting released in China, which is the biggest movie market in the world at the moment. ## "No Way Home" is only the fifth film to achieve the $1 billion global box office without China. In the past, "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" ($1.06B in 2006), "The Dark Knight" ($1B in 2008), "Alice in Wonderland" ($1.02B in 2010), and "Joker" ($1.07B in 2019) were able to score these rare feet. ## The finale of Tom Holland's first Spider-Man trilogy has already become the top-grossing domestic title of Sony Pictures, passing the $402 million unadjusted domestic cume of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man.
