Nate Diaz is all set to face off against Tony Ferguson in the UFC 279 main event after his previously scheduled opponent, Khamzat Chimaev, missed weight by seven-and-a-half pounds Friday morning. ## Nate Diaz Vs. Ferguson now looks loose and re-lands his right hand. ## Diaz from straight left. Ferguson catches a leg and scores from the right. As Diaz moves forward, he hits an inside leg kick. Diaz is going headhunting now. Ferguson is having trouble with his right eye being amputated. Ninety seconds left and Diaz begins to turn it on again.Overhand left by Diaz. Diaz scores with a combination. Ferguson wants to stay in the pocket, but Diaz circling and using his range. ## Round 3: Ferguson tries to support Diaz with kicks, but Diaz continues to lean forward looking for punches. A hard Diaz reaction is found inside the leg kick. He turns away and Ferguson stands in the middle of the octagon, pointing at an imaginary clock. He flops on his back while taunting Diaz. Goddard tells Diaz to return to the center and continue the fight. ## Diaz hits Ferguson with a hard leg kick. Diaz smiles and breathes against the cage. It got real weird real fast. Over leg kick from Ferguson. Ferguson procrastinates. Diaz turns to Ferguson and starts yelling at someone on the side of the cage. ## Diaz getting damaged with a body kick. He bows down and invites Ferguson to attack him. Ferguson didn't look as relaxed as he did a few minutes ago. A jab lands for Ferguson. Diaz throws over the head and it's another strong ending for him, albeit an incredibly awkward round. ## Round 4: Ferguson goes back into the body with a kick. He dives for an ankle pick and Diaz just steps away from it. Body kicks by Diaz in the front. Ferguson finds success with a jab and he chases down with an inside leg kick. Before he runs out, Ferguson punches the shovel off the ground. ## At the right signal, Diaz connects with a hard shot and Ferguson has to back down. Several punches land for Diaz. Ferguson is just fighting to stay away from the cage. He hit Diaz on the body with a left hook. Diaz punches Ferguson in the body, then goes back to the head. Beneil Dariush kicks off. Beneil Dariush was very focused on the fight for the time being. Beneil Dariush with a kick to the leg. Beneil Dariush with a Takedown. ## However, Tony Ferguson got complete control, looking to control the submission, both with heavy exchanges, the crowd was so pumped for Tony. In turn, Usman faced, and defeated Jorge Masvidal at that event. On October 5, it was reported Usman pulled out from this bout, citing more time needed to recover from undisclosed injuries and the bout was postponed.## While not officially announced by the organization, the promotion was also targeting a UFC Women's Featherweight Championship bout between the current champion Amanda Nunes (also the current UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion) and former Invicta FC Featherweight Champion Megan Anderson to serve as the event headliner. In turn, it was announced on November 9 that Nunes pulled out due to an undisclosed injury and the bout was postponed to 2021.## A UFC Bantamweight Championship bout between current champion Petr Yan and Aljamain Sterling was originally scheduled to serve as the co-main event. Due to the aforementioned cancelations, they were then expected to headline the card.
