Box Office: 'Thudarum' Becomes The Third-Highest-Grossing Malayalam Movie Of All Time

Kochi, May 8 - Superstar Mohanlal's drama thriller Thudarum is super strong in its second week and is marching towards the 200 crores club at the worldwide box office. In this process, it has become the third-highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time. ## Directed by Tharun Moorthy, Thudarum has crossed Tovino Thomas' 2023 survival thriller 2018 Movie (180 crores) as I type this on its 14th day to become the third biggest grosser, behind only Manjummel Boys (241 crores) and Empuraan (266.50+ crores). ## Thudarum had scored approximately 120 crores gross in its first week, while the second week is heading towards around 65 crores with less than 50% drop, which is excellent. It will be entering the 200 crores club the third weekend and will become only the third Malayalam movie ever to do so. ## Produced by Rejaputhra Visual Media, Thudarum has also topped 100 crores gross collection at the domestic box office today, making it the third Malayalam movie after Pulimurugan (100 crores), 2018 (110.50 crores) and Empuraan (123+ crores) to do so. ## The movie is expected to become the biggest Mollywood grosser domestically during the third week and will also look to top 100 crores gross in the home state, Kerala. Mohanlal's 'Empuraan' Total Business Details Revealed

Mumbai, April 19 - Superstar Mohanlal's action thriller L2: Empuraan is nearing its box office run but not before creating history for Malayalam cinema. The movie has emerged as the highest-grossing Mollywood film ever. ## Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film has grossed 266+ crores at the worldwide box office so far. In India, it has minted around 124 crores gross, while overseas collection is around 142 crores. L2 is the biggest Malayalam grosser at the domestic as well as overseas box office, while it will finish as the second biggest grosser in Kerala, behind 2018. ## Meanwhile, the makers have revealed that the total business of Empuraan is 325 crores, which includes theatrical and non-theatrical business (so far). There have been rumours that the film's OTT and satellite rights were sold for 100 crores, but the latest update from the makers reveals that non-theatrical rights are not more than 60 crores.## The non-theatrical rights of the movie are said to be the second highest ever for a Malayalam film, behind Dulquer Salmaan's King of Kotha. The political controversy around the movie has put a dent in Empuraan's OTT rights otherwise, it could have scored the biggest deal. ## Empuraan is produced by Aashirvad Cinemas in association with Sree Gokulam Movies. Kochi, April 5 - Superstar Mohanlal's action thriller L2: Empuraan has become the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time after beating last year's mega blockbuster Manjummel Boys in just 9 days at the worldwide box office. ## The sequel to the 2019 movie Lucifer, Empuraan has grossed approximately 241.50+ crores worldwide, including 106.50+ crores domestically through the second Friday. It has beaten the lifetime total of Manjummel Boys, which scored 241 crores in 2024. ## Empuraan is currently the third biggest Mollywood grosser in India after 2018 (110.50 crores gross) and Aadujeevitham (167.50 crores), while it is by far the biggest grosser at the overseas box office with 135+ crores, which is nearing double the second best Manjummel Boys (73.40 crores). ## Among the biggest grossers of the year, Empuraan is currently in third place behind Sankranthiki Vasthunam (255+ crores gross) and Chhaava (800+ crores gross) globally. Kochi, March 21 - The box office is breathing fire again, this time in the most uncharted territory (with huge potential) of Indian cinema with superstar Mohanlal's Malayalam blockbuster L2: Empuraan. There can't be a happier moment for the overall Indian film industry than seeing the rise of the Mollywood which has unanimously been applauded as the content factory. ## Over the last few years, Indian cinema has witnessed box office mayhem, mostly in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil film industries. But no one in their wildest of dreams had thought that a Malayalam Pan India film would top all other industries. Well, Empuraan has done that, at least, in terms of selling the highest number of tickets in an hour before release. ## The advance booking of Empuraan was opened at 9 AM on March 21 and by 10:30 AM, it had started selling tickets at 96K/hour which is a record for an Indian film before the official release. Kochi, March 20 - Superstar Mohanlal's action thriller Empuraan, directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, is re-writing history in its overseas pre-sales and is all set to start with a bang at the box office upon its worldwide release on March 27. ## The film is having a never-before-seen mass hysteria in the advance sales in the international market. With 6 days still left for the release, the opening day pre-sales of the film has crossed the 15 crore mark, which is already a record for a Malayalam title overseas. ## The worldwide bookings have crossed 12 crores gross, even without the regular bookings in the domestic market. Kochi, March 15 - After weeks of suspense and uncertainty, one of the biggest Malayalam films, superstar Mohanlal-fronted action thriller Empuraan is set to storm the big screen on March 27, as originally scheduled in multiple languages.## As reported earlier, there was uncertainty over the release date of the film due to the internal tussle between Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions.
