Trish Stratus & Lita Target WWE Women's Tag Titles, Vow To Break The 'Curse'

WWE Hall of Famers Trish Stratus and Lita, better known as "Team Bestie," are setting their sights on the Women's Tag Team Championship belts – and they're not afraid of a little superstition.## During a recent Q&A session at the "For the Love of Wrestling" convention, fans asked the legendary duo about their interest in the tag titles. Lita confidently dismissed the notion of a "curse" associated with the belts, which have seen several reigns cut short due to injuries and other setbacks.## "People like to talk about this imaginary curse of the [women's] tag titles," Lita said, "but I think that if Trish and I were tag champs, that somehow the curse would magically disappear."## Stratus echoed Lita's enthusiasm, issuing a playful challenge to the current champions, the Kabuki Warriors: "You're not ready for Team Bestie."## While Lita downplayed the curse, there's some basis for the concern. The titles have seen a string of unfortunate events. Sasha Banks and Naomi were stripped of the championship in May 2022 after a creative dispute. The titles then went through a period of vacancy before Aliyah and Raquel Rodriguez won them, only to lose them just weeks later. ## More recently, the curse seemed to strike again. In May 2023, Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan were forced to relinquish the titles due to Morgan's shoulder injury. Just two months later, Sonya Deville, another champion, suffered a torn ACL, leaving the championship picture in flux. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...

Top 5 WWE Stars Who Should Retire By 2025

Las Vegas, 13 November - Professional wrestling is an arduous sport that can exact a serious toll on the body. Even the most elite athletes eventually face the decision to retire, and 2024 may mark the year when several top WWE stars choose to hang up their boots.## Currently, there are a couple of WWE stars who continue to perform as full-time talent, despite suggestions that they should retire from in-ring competition. The oldest WWE star still actively wrestling is R-Truth, who is presently 51 years old.## Whether wrestlers should retire from WWE is a personal decision that only they can make. However, there are several factors they may want to consider. ## Below check out the top 5 WWE stars who now should retire; ## #1. R-Truth (age 51): The oldest WWE star still active in the ring is R-Truth, currently 50 years old. With over 30 years of wrestling experience, he remains one of the most entertaining and popular figures on the roster.## Presently, Truth is in recovery after sustaining an injury during a match against Grayson Waller. The injury is expected to keep him out of action for an extended period.## Throughout his WWE career, R-Truth has achieved notable success, including winning the WWE United States Championship twice, the WWF Hardcore Championship twice, the WWE 24/7 Championship 54 times, and the WWE Tag Team Championship once with Kofi Kingston. ## #2. John Cena (age 45): Cena, a WWE legend, has been reducing his in-ring appearances in recent years due to various commitments outside of WWE. It is evident that his passion for wrestling has diminished compared to earlier years, yet his lasting impact on the younger talent remains undeniable.## Cena boasts an impressive record of winning gold on 16 different occasions. This includes securing the WWE Championship 13 times, the World Heavyweight Championship three times, the WWE United States Championship five times, and the WWE Tag Team Championship twice — once with The Miz and once with David Otunga. Additionally, he clinched the World Tag Team Championship twice, partnering with Batista and Shawn Michaels. ## #3. AJ Styles (age 46): On the one hand, Styles has had an incredible career. He is a two-time WWE Champion, a three-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion, and a four-time NWA World Heavyweight Champion. He has also won numerous other titles and awards throughout his career. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. ## On the other hand, Styles is 46 years old. He has been wrestling for over 20 years, and his body has taken a lot of punishment over the years. He has also suffered from a number of injuries in recent years. ## Styles has said that he wants to retire when he is still at a high level, and he does not want to go out on a sour note. He has also said that he wants to spend more time with his family. ## #4. Trish Stratus (age 47): Trish Stratus retired from professional wrestling on a full-time basis in 2006, but she has made occasional appearances in WWE since then. In 2023, she made a full-time return to the roster. ## At 47 years old, Stratus maintains excellent physical condition and remains a highly popular wrestler. She continues to serve as a role model for many female wrestlers, contributing significantly to paving the way for women in professional wrestling. As a WWE star, she has achieved notable success, winning the WWE Hardcore Championship once and the WWE Women's Championship seven times. ## #5. Rey Mysterio (age 49): Rey Mysterio is one of the greatest luchadors of all time, and he has had an incredible career in WWE. He is a one-time WWE Champion, a two-time World Heavyweight Champion, a two-time WWE Intercontinental Champion, a three-time WWE United States Champion, a three-time, WWE Cruiserweight Champion, a four-time WWE Tag Team Champion - with Edge (1), Rob Van Dam (1), Eddie Guerrero (1), and Batista (1) and a one-time WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champion – with Dominik Mysterio. ## Mysterio is currently 49 years old, and he has been wrestling for over 35 years. In 2023, Mysterio said that he plans to retire within the next two years. He said that he wants to retire when he is still at a high level, and he does not want to go out on a sour note. ## I believe that Mysterio should retire soon. He has accomplished everything he could ever want to accomplish in wrestling, and he is at risk of serious injury if he continues to wrestle for too much longer. He should retire now and enjoy his well-deserved retirement. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...

WWE WrestleMania 40 Early Predictions: Top 5 Matches

Philadelphia, 25 September - WrestleMania, the most anticipated event of the year for WWE fans, is just around the corner. Fans are already excited about the rumored lineup, which is expected to deliver an incredible spectacle for the world of wrestling! ## Twists are already beaming up with WrestleMania XL being the first WrestleMania in which WWE is not owned and controlled by the McMahon family, following Endeavor's purchase of WWE. Looking back at the ticket sales, it went on sale on August 18, 2023, and sold over 90K tickets on the first day for both nights combined, breaking into WWE's record, set by the prior year's WrestleMania. ## WrestleMania 39 was one of the greatest spectacles, WWE Universe ever witnessed with a record-breaking star-studded show. This year, Triple H and the creative team will attempt to bring the best ever.## Let's check out the top 5 matches: ## #1. Undisputed WWE Universal Championship: Roman Reigns vs. The Rock ## For quite some time now, WWE has had plans to stage this match at the biggest event in their calendar, but those plans haven't materialized yet. Last year, there were strong rumors about this match happening at the show, but it ultimately didn't happen. This year, there's a significant likelihood that we'll finally witness The Rock taking on Reigns in the main event of WrestleMania. ## The Rock did make a return on the September 15 episode of SmackDown, but there was only a hint of a match against Roman Reigns. However, the Hollywood star recently appeared on the Pat McAfee show and mentioned that he's open to facing the current WWE Universal Champion at WrestleMania XL. ## #2. World Heavyweight Championship: Seth Rollins vs. Cody Rhodes ## If The Rock doesn't return for the main event of the Grandest Stage of them All, Cody Rhodes is the top pick to face Roman Reigns at the event. However, I firmly believe that The Rock vs. Roman Reigns will definitely happen this year. So, in the event of The Rock's return to the main event at the Grandest Stage of them All, Rhodes will require a formidable opponent, and there's no better choice than Seth Rollins for the WWE Heavyweight Championship. ## Their first encounter occurred at WrestleMania 38. On the first night of the event, on April 2, Cody Rhodes made a surprise return and defeated Rollins. Then, at WrestleMania Backlash on May 8, Rollins suffered another loss to Rhodes. The subsequent week, Rhodes challenged Rollins to a Hell in a Cell match, which Rollins accepted. This bout took place on June 5, and Rollins lost to Rhodes for the third time. ## Cody has managed to maintain his connection with the audience and remains popular. Therefore, a match between Cody and Seth Rollins would be a highly anticipated event. ## #3. Women's World Championship Match: Rhea Ripley vs. Becky Lynch ## Becky Lynch is the top choice as an opponent for Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 40. The idea has always been under consideration but has been on hold for various reasons. This would be a significant match because it's been a long time since their last encounter, and Ripley has grown into a bigger star since then. ## Lynch has recently concluded a feud with Trish Stratus, so now it seems like a good time for her to set her sights on Ripley's championship at the event. ## #4. WWE Intercontinental Championship Title Match: Brock Lesnar vs. Gunther(c) ## Gunther has always dreamed of facing Brock Lesnar, and it seems that their match is finally set for the biggest event of the year. There were rumors that this match might have happened at WrestleMania 39, but it got canceled, and instead, Brock Lesnar faced Omos. ## Since winning the Intercontinental Title, Gunther has risen to become one of the top stars on the WWE roster. Brock Lesnar is currently not wrestling after losing to Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam, but he is confirmed for WrestleMania 40. ## A match between them could steal the show at the Grandest Stage of them All. ## #5. Randy Orton vs. Drew McIntyre ## Randy Orton has returned to the WWE Performance Center. There were rumors about his comeback earlier, but in early August, he was not yet cleared for in-ring training. In May 2022, Orton injured his back and had to undergo fusion surgery. ## Now that Orton is back at the WWE Performance Center, there's a possibility that WWE might arrange a match between him and Drew McIntyre. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...

Ranking Top 3 Potential Headliner Matches For WrestleMania 40

Philadelphia, 23 September - WWE WrestleMania is typically the biggest event of the year. This time around, WWE is aiming to have some exciting matches lined up. They already have some significant plans in the works, though they're not set in stone yet. ## As the show gets closer, fans are eager to see the possible match card, which could include some prominent wrestling stars. Roman Reigns is still the Universal Champion, and there's a lot of talk about him facing off against The Rock, which would be a big matchup. ## However, it's important to note that plans in WWE can change, so we can't be absolutely certain if this match will indeed happen at WrestleMania, but there's a strong belief among fans that it might take place on the grandest stage of all them all. ## Here is a look at the top 3 matches: ## #1. Undisputed WWE Universal Title Match: The Rock vs. Roman Reigns ## The Rock versus Roman Reigns for the WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania in April 2024 is pretty much a done deal. This match was originally planned for last year's WrestleMania but had to be scrapped because The Rock wasn't in the right shape for it. ## Since becoming the champion, Reigns has been on a tear, defeating all the top names in WWE, including Brock Lesnar, Cody Rhodes, Seth Rollins, John Cena, and more. This year, he's set to be the first superstar to enter WrestleMania as the champion for four consecutive years. ## It's highly unlikely that Reigns will lose the title at WrestleMania, especially with The Rock as his opponent. The Rock isn't a regular in WWE, so we might see Reigns retain the title. But then again, you never know in the world of wrestling; anything can happen. ## #2. WWE Heavyweight Title Match: Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins ## Seth Rollins currently holds the WWE Heavyweight Championship, and I hope WWE isn't planning on having him lose that title until he defends it against Cody Rhodes at the upcoming event. If this match happens, it would mark their first title clash. ## Their initial encounter occurred at WrestleMania 38. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...

Ricochet followed up with the Recoil, nearly securing a victory. ## Nakamura halted Ricochet's momentum with a knee strike, but Ricochet quickly countered and delivered a running senton off the apron to the floor. However, Nakamura dodged the move, and they continued their fight near the barricade. It culminated in Nakamura using a steel chair on Ricochet, resulting in a disqualification finish, which added a unique twist to the match. ## WINNER: Ricochet ## After the match, Nakamura placed a steel chair around Ricochet's neck, but Rollins rushed into the ring to rescue Ricochet. In a backstage interview, Stark expressed her respect for Stratus but asserted that nobody pushes her around. Shayna Baszler confronted Stark, and both women agreed to a match for tonight. ## The Judgment Day faction made their way to the ring to address the audience. Dominik Mysterio began to speak but was met with a chorus of boos from the crowd. He acknowledged that everyone in the faction now held titles. Finn Balor congratulated Mysterio on his one-year anniversary with The Judgment Day and thanked Rhea Ripley for her voice of reason. He also praised Damian Priest for their tag team title victory and paid tribute to JD McDonagh. Balor highlighted his own achievement of becoming a Grand Slam champion.## Ripley expressed her happiness about the unity within the faction and emphasized that they were like a family after their success at the recent event. However, she expressed frustration that people were focused on Jey Uso's move to Raw, asserting that The Bloodline had fallen, and The Judgment Day was now the dominant faction in WWE.## Priest began to speak when JD McDonagh interrupted them. Priest was not pleased with this interruption. McDonagh stated that changes were needed within The Judgment Day, particularly regarding Priest's Money in the Bank briefcase. He presented Priest with a new purple briefcase labeled "Senor Money in the Bank."## Sami Zayn then entered the scene, addressing the absence of Kevin Owens and expressing his dissatisfaction about losing the titles on Saturday. He referred to the faction as "championship-stealing turds" and singled out Dominik Mysterio as the biggest one. Zayn challenged Mysterio to a match, but McDonagh intervened, refusing to fight Mysterio and instead challenging Zayn, who accepted.## The broadcast also featured highlights of several Intercontinental champions, including Pedro Morales, The Ultimate Warrior, Razor Ramon, The Rock, Rey Mysterio, Wade Barrett, and Seth Rollins.## Gunther delivered a promo in which he questioned Gable's place in history. He asserted that someone like Gable didn't belong in the history books, while he would stand as the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion after their match. ## Shayna Bazler Vs Zoey Stark ## It may not have been necessary to have Zoey Stark lose immediately after her storyline with Stratus, but it seems like they are setting up something between her and Baszler based on the ending. The crowd was noticeably unresponsive during this match. ## Baszler focused her attacks on Stark's right arm, relentlessly working it over. She attempted the Kirifuda Clutch, but Stark managed to break free. Their encounter spilled to the outside, with Baszler again trying for the clutch. However, Stark pushed Baszler into the announce table and followed up with a plancha from the ring apron. ## After a commercial break, Stark made a comeback with a German suplex. She attempted what appeared to be the Z360 move but couldn't execute it properly due to her injured hand. Unfortunately, the crowd seemed disengaged from the match. Baszler eventually trapped Stark in the Kirifuda Clutch. Stark tried to resist the submission, even managing to get back on her feet briefly, but ultimately, after about a minute, she had to tap out. ## WINNER: Shayna Bazler ## After the match, Stark managed to stand on her feet. Baszler appeared to have gained some respect for Stark and acknowledged that Stark had put up a tougher fight than Ronda ever did. They exchanged a fist bump as a sign of mutual respect. ## In a backstage segment, Finn Balor suggested that JD consider joining The Judgment Day. However, Priest felt the need to prove himself first, which Balor agreed with. Mysterio expressed his willingness to go along with whatever decision they made. Ripley advised waiting to see how JD performs in his match against Zayn tonight. As Priest and Balor exited, Ripley reminded Mysterio to ensure that everything goes smoothly during JD's match. ## Raquel Rodriguez Vs Chelsea Green ## Green tried to escape, but Rodriguez swiftly went after her and handled her roughly. Rodriguez landed a boot and executed a fallaway slam. Green briefly tried to counter and attempted a crossbody, but Raquel intercepted her, delivered a clothesline, and then secured the victory with the Tejana bomb. ## WINNER: Raquel Rodriguez ## Rodriguez mentioned she had a chat with Adam Pence. She told him she's getting her Payback rematch, and Dominik Mysterio won't be allowed at ringside. She also informed Rhea Ripley that they'll meet next week for the Women's World Championship.## Other Intercontinental Champions include Don Muraco, Mr. Perfect, Bret Hart, Eddie Guerrero, Kofi Kingston, and Cody Rhodes.## Chad Gable asserted that he's already made history as a former Olympian with a master's degree. Tonight, he plans to show everyone, including his crew and his family in the front row, that he's more than just a tag team specialist. He believes his desire to take the championship outweighs his opponent's desire to hold onto it. ## The Miz then took the microphone to address the audience. ## Drew McIntyre was pacing backstage when Matt Riddle approached him and advised him to cool off. McIntyre warned that if Jey Uso got in his way, he would deal with the person responsible for bringing him in, Cody Rhodes. Kofi Kingston joined the conversation and offered an apology, but McIntyre didn't appear to fully accept it. He told Kingston that he would be vigilant in case of any more 'accidents' in the future. ## In the ring, The Miz hosted Miz TV and claimed he wasn't defeated by LA Knight at Payback; he felt victimized. He introduced John Cena, who was curiously invisible throughout his entrance, with the cameraman handling all the camera cuts. Miz engaged in a one-sided conversation with the invisible Cena, stating he had seen through Cena for eighteen years. ## Miz questioned the invisible chair next to him, asking if it had betrayed him and if LA Knight had paid it off. It appeared, in Miz's imagination, that the chair answered in the affirmative. Miz then requested that invisible Cena leave, slapped the invisible Cena, and delivered the Skull Crushing Finale to thin air. After reminiscing about headlining a WrestleMania with John Cena 12 years ago, he concluded by challenging LA Knight to a one-on-one match. ## The Miz has maintained the same character for many years on this show, without significant changes. ## Jey Uso strolled through the backstage area, and after a brief encounter with Akira Tozawa, he crossed paths with Adam Pearce. Pearce informed him that due to his trade to Raw, SmackDown would be receiving a trade in return, and the outcome might not please everyone. After Uso departed, Tommaso Ciampa approached Pearce, and the two headed into Pearce's office for a discussion. ## JD McDonagh Vs Sami Zayn ## This match could have been better with more time, but considering what they had, it was alright.## The two wrestlers squared off for a few minutes before McDonagh, on the outside, slammed Zayn into the post before the commercial break. Upon returning, Zayn fought his way out of a rest hold and knocked down McDonagh with a clothesline. Zayn executed a Michinoku driver for a close nearfall. ## Zayn followed up with an exploder into the ring post while attempting the Helluva kick, but Dominik Mysterio intervened by pulling JD out of the ring. Zayn turned his attention to Mysterio but got distracted momentarily on the outside, allowing McDonagh to roll him up for the victory. ## WINNER: JD McDonag ## After the match, Zayn attacked Mysterio, attempting the Helluva kick, but McDonagh pulled Zayn out of the ring and signaled for Mysterio to make his escape. Zayn then directed his aggression towards McDonagh, delivering the Helluva kick to him instead. The commentators emphasized that Mysterio didn't return the favor after McDonagh saved him. ## A replay of the Tiffany Stratton and Becky Lynch confrontation from Payback was shown, and they promoted Stratton's title defense against Kiana James for tomorrow. ## Additional Intercontinental Champions include Randy Savage, Tito Santana, Triple H, Edge, The Miz, and Bobby Lashley. ## Gunther Vs Chad Gable for the WWE Intercontinental Championship ## The final minutes of this match were fantastic, and the crowd was really engaged. Unfortunately, there were two commercial breaks during the match, so we only got to see the last five minutes without interruption. This bout deserved a spot on the pay-per-view or a premium live event. If I were in charge of booking, I'd schedule a third match, and I believe Gable should win the title at Fastlane next month. ## After a few minutes, and of course, another commercial break, we saw Gable targeting Gunther's leg outside the ring, working on it until Gunther halted his efforts. Gunther brought Gable down with a powerful chop. Gable tried to retaliate with chops of his own, but Gunther knocked him down with another hefty chop. ## Following YET ANOTHER COMMERCIAL, Gable attempted to go after Gunther's leg again, but Gunther lifted him up and executed a powerbomb, causing both to tumble to the floor. Gable responded with a German suplex and tossed Gunther back into the ring. However, when Gable entered the ring, Gunther hit him with a powerbomb for a close two-count. ## Gable executed a superplex and followed it up with a flying headbutt, resulting in another nearfall. He then attempted an ankle lock, but Gunther managed to escape. Gable tried for the Chaos Theory, but Gunther slipped away once more. Gable then delivered a back suplex and successfully executed the Chaos Theory suplex, but Gunther kicked out again. ## Gable went for a moonsault, but Gunther raised his leg. Gable noticed and transitioned into an ankle lock. After a brief struggle, Gunther trapped Gable in a sleeper hold. Gable cleverly shifted his weight, planting his feet on the floor and pinning Gunther's shoulders for another two-count. Gunther responded with a sleeper suplex, a powerbomb, and a thunderous clothesline to secure the victory. ## A child in the audience was shown crying as Gunther received the championship. Michael Cole commented that after 35 years, Gunther would break The Honky Tonk Man's record as the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time. The show concluded with Gunther standing at the entrance, while Gable appeared dejected in the ring. ## WINNER: Gunther ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk...
