ZEE5 Reveals Five Most Liked Films of 2023

Mumbai, July 20 - One of the rising streaming platforms in India, ZEE5 has had some success this year so far with its original movies and web series. The streamer released some critically acclaimed films such as "Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai" and "Lost", and web shows like "Taj: Divided By Blood", among others.## One of the biggest films ZEE5 has released so far is SS Rajamouli's "RRR" which was streamed last year post its theatrical release. Meanwhile, the streamer has released the five most-liked films of the first half of 2023 on ZEE5. Check out the list - ## 1. Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai## Directed by Apoorv Singh Karki, "Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai" has not only been the most-liked ZEE5 movie of the year, but it also emerged as one of the most-watched films across OTT platforms. The legal drama, starring Manoj Bajpayee is inspired by the true events of a five-year-long standalone fight of a regular session court lawyer Adv. PC Solanki (Manoj Bajpayee) who stands for the truth, and his struggle to bring justice to the girl(s) who were wronged by an influential godman Asaram Bapu.## 2. Lost## Actress Yami Gautam has been receiving appreciation for picking quality content and "Lost" proved another solid film in her career. The Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury-directed movie is inspired by true events. It charts the story of a young woman crime reporter who is working on a story of the sudden disappearance of a young theatre activist. The layered story aims to represent the idea of lost values and integrity. ## 3. U-Turn## The supernatural thriller flick, which is an official remake of the 2016 Kannada film of the same name, has been one of the films which received appreciation for the performance by Alaya F. Directed by Arif Khan, "U-Turn" revolves around motorists who move concrete blocks from the divider to take a U-turn, which causes several accidents. ## 4. Chhatriwali ## A social comedy about the important societal taboo of educating the youth about Sex Education, "Chhatriwali" got an appreciation for the unique subject. "Chhatriwali" is considered one of the best films of Rakul Preet Singh who played the lead role alongside Sumit Vyas. It marked the last film of Satish Kaushik before his death on 9 March 2023. ## 5. Mrs Undercover ## Fronted by Radhika Apte with Sumeet Vyas, and Rajesh Sharma in key roles, "Mrs Undercover" is a spy comedy that got mixed responses from critics. It's Raining Remakes In Bollywood - Not One Or Two But Bollywood Gears Up For More Than 20 Remakes In Next Two-Three Years

Mumbai, July 5, 2021: Bollywood's love affair with remakes is not hidden from audiences. The largest film industry in the country, Bollywood has mastered adapting films from different languages - be it regional or international, and also able to give them a Bollywood touch to lure the Hindi audiences. ## In the last one and a half-decade, Bollywood stars have done films like Ghajini, Gabbar Is Back, Force, Singham, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Simmba, Son of Sardaar, Wanted, Rowdy Rathore, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, Kabir Singh, and Baaghi, which all are remakes of Tamil and Telugu films but proved to be some of the highest grosser of its respective release years. ## Even though the Hindi filmmakers have often been criticized for the lack of fresh ideas, they continued to acquire the Hindi remakes of other languages. And it looks like they have no plan to stop adapting good films into Hindi anytime soon, even though the audience likly to invest in fresh content as the covid-19 pandemic might have made them more opinionated than before. ## Well, opinion aside, Bollywood filmmakers still believe that the Hindi audience's interest in the remake hasn't waned yet and they will watch whenever they get a chance. Keeping that in mind, Bollywood isn't hesitating to do remakes and for the record, there are at least 20+ remakes already in making in Hindi. ## Also Read - Bollywood Set To Explore Superhero Universe With Upcoming Movies## Among the most-awaited remakes, Shahid Kapoor starrer "Jersey" is completed and ready for release on Diwali this year. It is a remake of the 2019 Telugu movie of the same name starring Nani in the lead role. Ajay Devgn is also doing the Hindi version of the 2019 Tamil action thriller film, Kaithi. Ajay in association with Dil Raju also acquired the remake rights of the 2021 Telugu hit, Naandhi. ## Recently, it was revealed that Akshay Kumar's next film with Bell Bottom makers is the remake of the 2018 Tamil psychological crime thriller film, Ratsasan. Last year, John Abraham had bought the rights to the 2020 Malayalam thriller film Ayyappanum Koshiyum, in which he will also be starring alongside Abhishek Bachchan. ## Acclaimed filmmaker, S Shankar announced that he will be remaking his own 2005 Tamil film, Anniyan in Hindi with Ranveer Singh playing the lead role. The film will mark Shankar's return to Hindi films twenty years after his only Hindi directorial, Nayak (2001) that starred Anil Kapoor in the lead. Another Tamil film, Vikram Vedha starring Vijay Sethupathi and R Madhavan is getting its Hindi adaptation with Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan starring in it. ## Also Read - Akshay Kumar All Set To Reunite With Priyadarshan After A Decade For A Comedy Film## Among the other top remakes, Kartik Aaryan is doing the Hindi version of Ala Vaikuntapurramuloo, which starrer Allu Arjun and Pooja Hegde in the lead roles. Kabir Singh producer Murad Khetani of Cine1 Studios along with Endemol Shine India, and 7 Screen Studio also bought the remake rights of the 2021's biggest hit Tamil film, Master, starring Thalapathy Vijay and Vijay Sethupathy. Salman Khan is said to be starring the Hindi remake. ## There are some reports claiming that Salman Khan has bought the Hindi remake rights of Ravi Teja's upcoming film, Khiladi. Boney Kapoor is remaking the 2021 Malayalam political thriller, One along with 'Helen' with his daughter Janhavi Kapoor in the lead, followed by the 2019 Tamil film 'Comali' with his son Arjun Kapoor. ## The time and cinema viewing might have changed for others, it is still hasn't changed much for Hindi filmmakers when it comes to remakes. Alaya F To Star In The Hindi Remake Of Kannada Film U-Turn; To Be Produced By Ekta Kapoor

Mumbai, July 5, 2021: It is raining remakes in the Bollywood film industry. Having already dozens of remakes in the making, filmmaker Ekta Kapoor has locked one more Hindi remake. She will be producing the Hindi remake of the 2016 Kannada supernatural thriller film, U-Turn, which starred Shraddha Srinath in the lead role. ## The Hindi remake will be headed by Aalia Furniturewalla, who made a smashing debut with the 2020 comedy-drama film, Jawaani Jaaneman. U-Turn remake will be Alaya F's only second film that will be directed by debutante Arif Khan. The supernatural thriller film will be backed by Cult Movies, a new division launched under Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms while the shooting will commence on July 6 in Mumbai. ## Speaking about Alyay's role in the film, producer Ekta Kapoor said, "Alaya was fantastic in her debut film. There's a self-assured yet vulnerable quality to her that I believe can connect with audiences. U-Turn takes you on a ride with twists and turns galore, and provides edge-of-the-seat excitement". ## Alaya, too, is delighted about the opportunity that has come her way. The talented star kid shared that working with Ekta so early in her career is very exciting, especially since the project is so interesting. Alaya went on to add, "I feel responsible to be given the task to drive such an intriguing story". ## The plot of the film revolves around the death of motorists who break a traffic rule at a particular flyover in Bangalore and subsequent pinning down of the culprit by an intern journalist and police inspector duo. U-Turn has already been remade in multiple Indian and international languages. ## The film was remade in Malayalam in 2017 as Careful. It was later remade into a Telugu-Tamil bilingual in 2018 with Samantha Akkineni in the lead role. The film was also officially remade in Sri Lanka in Sinhala in 2019 with the same title. The Filipino remake with the same title was released on 30 October 2020. ## Stay tuned...
