Chennai, February 3 - Director Lokesh Kanagaraj's most hyped film with Thalapathy Vijay gets its title. The most in-demand duo of Thalapathy and Lokesh is coming together for the second time after delivering blockbuster in the form of "Master" in 2021. ## Originally announced as "Thalapathy 67", the makers have now locked the title of film as Leo. The title was announced through a promo teaser, however, the video doesn't give any hints about whether the film is a part of Lokesh's much talked about LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe).## The promo video of "Leo" is buzzing with Anirudh's rocking BGM. It shows Thalapathy Vijay making chocolate and simultaneously forging a sword, only to dip the sword in the chocolate while waiting for an entourage of villains. The promo promises yet another massy avatar of Vijay and this time, he is looking more deadly than ever. ## Produced by Seven Screen Studio, "Leo" reunites Thalapathy Vijay with actress Trisha Krishnan after 14 years. Chennai, February 3 - Thalapathy Vijay's second collaboration with blockbuster director Lokesh Kanagaraj, "Thalapathy 67" is getting hot in the trade even though there is no release date set yet. T67's non-theatrical rights have already been sold and prices are believed to be the highest ever in Tamil cinema. ## Produced by Seven Screen Studio, "Thalapathy 67" is the most-hyped Tamil movie ever and there is genuine excitement among moviegoers for this film. Netflix, one of the leading OTT platforms, has bought the post-theatrical streaming rights of the movie, and if reports are to be believed, the streamer has paid a whopping price of 150 crores for the same. ## Thalapathy Vijay's latest blockbuster "Varisu" was sold in approx. 60 crores to Amazon Prime Video, and now, Netflix has paid 2.5X for the superstar's upcoming movie. Sun TV has bought the satellite rights of T67 for approx. 80 crores. The channel also has TV rights to "Varisu" which it bought in approx. 50 crores. ## Sony Music has been announced as the Music Partner of T67 and the price for the same is said to be approx. 16 crores. The non-theatrical rights of the movie are close to 250 crores. The theatrical biz is expected to be skyrocketed and it could be around 150-200 crores. ## T67 is said to be a part of director Lokesh's cinematic universe, which also included "Kaithi" and "Vikram". Chennai, February 1 - Thalapathy Vijay's second collaboration with director Lokesh Kanagaraj has roped in a superlative star cast. Tentatively titled "Thalapathy 67", it is easily the most hyped Kollywood movie of the year and it gets bigger with some of the highly talented actors coming on board it. ## Seven Screen Studio, the production house of the film, has been announcing the cast since yesterday and the makers have locked in primary characters. While Thalapathy Vijay plays the lead role, Sanjay Dutt was the first to announce to play one of the prominent roles. ## Sanjay Dutt marks his Tamil debut with "Thalapathy 67" and also his first association with Vijay and Kanagaraj. "When I heard the one-liner of Thalapathy 67, I knew in that exact moment I had to be a part of this film and I'm thrilled to start this journey", Dutt said. ## The second actor to announce is Priya Anand who plays one of the female leads. Dance choreographer Sandy also joins the cast along with Mysskin, Mansoor Ali Khan, and Mathew Thomas. Gautham Menon, one of the top names in South Indian cinema, is also a part of the ensemble, and so is action king Arjun Sarja. ## The last one to confirm onboard is the leading lady of the film Tisha Krishan who reunites with Thalapathy Vijay after 14 years. Chennai, January 21 - Thalapathy Vijay's family action entertainer Varisu has crossed 100 crores gross mark in the home state, Tamil Nadu. The movie achieved the feat in 10 days after debuting in theaters on January 11. ## Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, "Varisu" has so far grossed approx. 159 crores at the domestic box office, including approx. 100 crores in Tamil Nadu. It has become the 6th straight film for Thalapathy to enter the prestigious box office club in the state. ## "Varisu" has been performing exceptionally well ever since it was released in theaters. Despite the big clash with Ajith Kumar's "Thunivu", it has outperformed all other films, not just domestically but overseas as well. The worldwide gross collection of the movie stands at around 233 crores, including approx. 75 crores overseas. ## Produced by Dil Raju, "Varisu" is the 6th film in the 200 crores club for the Tamil superstar and is currently the 4th biggest grosser (as per the data available) for him. Chennai, January 18 - Thalapathy Vijay's family entertainer Varisu has crossed 200 crores at the global box office, becoming the first Indian movie of 2023 to enter the box office club.## Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, "Varisu" has emerged as the first choice of the family audience on this Pongal festival. The film took just 7 days to reach the box office milestone, thanks to superlative performance domestically as well as overseas. ## "Varisu" has grossed approx. 210 crores, including approx. 140 crores in India in all languages and approx. 70 crores overseas. It has grossed around 115 crores in the original Tamil version and around 19 crores in Telugu (4 days) and approx. 6 crores in Hindi version (5 days). ## Produced by Dil Raju, the film has performed very well in Tamil Nadu so far, grossing around 89 crores (7 days). It is not too far ahead of "Thunivu" which has grossed approx. 84 crores in as many days in the home state. It has grossed approx. 147 crores, including approx. 102 domestically and 45 crores overseas in just 7 days. ## Waltair Veerayya - Megastar Chiranjeevi has had tough times at the box office in the recent past as his two films underperformed at the box office last year. However, the veteran superstar hits the bull's eye with Bobby's directorial film and has surpassed the 100 crores gross mark worldwide. The movie grossed approx. 137 crores worldwide, including approx. 117 crores domestically and 20 crores overseas in the 5 days. "Waltair Veerayya" has become Chiranjeevi's biggest grosser since "Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy" (2019). ## Veera Simha Reddy - Veteran Telugu star Nandamuri Balakrishna has turned a dark horse at the box office since the blockbuster success of "Akhanda" which became his first 100 crores grosser. The actor's latest blockbuster "Veera Simha Reddy" has higher stakes than "Akhanda" and the performance so far justifies why it is. Chennai, January 15 - Thalapathy Vijay's family action drama Varisu is emerging as a favorite Tamil film this Pongal festival, not just in the original Tamil language but also in Telugu and Hindi languages. ## Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, "Varisu" grossed approx. 78 crores domestically in the first 4 days. The movie grossed an estimated 21+ crores on Sunday, including an estimated 13+ crores in the Tamil language, pushing the total domestic gross collection to around 100 crores in the 5-day opening weekend. ## The Telugu version of the film, "Varasudu" did well on the opening day with approx. 5.40 crores and scored another 5.50+ crores gross on its second day for approx. 11 crores gross in two days. The Hindi version is also surprisingly doing well and has grossed approx. 4+ crores gross in three days.## Meanwhile, another Pongal release, Ajith Kumar's Thunivu is too doing well by holding well after the big opening day. Chennai, January 14 - Thalapathy Vijay's family action drama film Varisu sees a big Saturday at the box office, added by the Telugu version "Varasudu" which released today. ## Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, "Varisu" scored an estimated 19+ crores gross on its 4th day/first Saturday. The Telugu version grossed an estimated approx. 4.50+ crores on the first day. "Varasudu" had a low advance booking for the opening day but surprised one and all with excellent spot booking.## The total domestic gross collection of "Varisu" now stands around 76 crores, including the Telugu version, after 4 days. The movie has crossed 50 crores gross in the home state, Tamil Nadu with today's collection, and worldwide it crossed 100 crores gross, becoming the first Indian film of 2023 to do so. ## Ajith Kumar's "Thunivu", which had a direct clash with "Varisu" is legging behind the Vijay-starrer despite putting up a good collection so far. Chennai, January 13 - The two Pongal releases, Thalapathy Vijay's Varisu and Ajith Kumar's Thunivu are having neck-to-neck competition at the box office with the former having a little advantage at the domestic box office after two days. ## Both films had a good hold on their second day despite dropping in the range of 50% each. The two days domestic gross collection for Thalapathy Vijay-starrer is approx. 45 crores while Ajith-fronted has grossed 42.50 crores.## "Varisu" witnessed another good hold on its 3rd day and scored an estimated 12 crores gross, dropping approx. 10%. The total domestic collection for the movie now stands at approx. 57 crores after 3 days with 2 big weekend days ahead of it. The movie is eyeing 85+ crores gross in the 5-day opening weekend. ## "Thunivu", on the other hand, sees a bigger drop of around 23% than "Varisu" on its 3rd day/first Friday for an estimated 10 crores gross. The total domestic gross collection for the movie reaches approx. 52 crores in 3 days. ## The direct clash between "Varisu" and "Thunivu" has clearly dented both's box office chances as none of them are able to utilize their full potential. Chennai, January 12 - The two powerful forces of Tamil cinema, Thalapathy Vijay and Ajith Kumar collectively scored the day ever at the Tamil Nadu box office when their respective films, Varisu and Thunivu grossed 41+ crores on the opening day. ## The Ajith-starrer won the opening-day battle in the home state but it was "Varisu" that took the honors at the domestic box office a little over 31 crores against 28+ crores of "Thunivu". The word of mouth for both films is on the positive side and that helped both hold strong on the second day. ## As per the early estimates, "Varisu" grossed an estimated 18-20 crores on the second day, dropping around 40% which is lesser than the usual drop for a Tamil film. "Thunivu", on the other hand, has a drop in the similar range for an estimated 17-19 crores gross. ## The two days total domestic collection for "Varisu" is around 50 crores while "Thunivu" has minted approx. 45 crores gross (final second-day numbers may vary).## Both, "Varisu" and "Thunivu" are getting benefitted because of the Pongal holidays and this is expected to continue during throughout the opening weekend. "Varisu" had lesser screening than "Thunivu" on the opening day in Tamil Nadu and after positive feedback, more screens are being added from today onwards.## Stay tuned...
