The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is extending invitations as the organization has invited 819 new artists and executives who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to theatrical motion pictures to join the organization. ## Every year, some of the Indian celebrities also get an invitation to join the ceremony. This year, Hrithik Roshan and Alia Bhatt are two of the few Indians who have been invited to become new members. The Academy has recognized Hrithik Roshan for his work in Super 30 and Jodha Akbar while Alia Bhatt received an invitation for her brilliant work in Raazi and Gully Boy. ## "The Academy is delighted to welcome these distinguished fellow travelers in the motion picture arts and sciences. We have always embraced extraordinary talent that reflects the rich variety of our global film community, and never more so than now", said Academy President David Rubin in a statement.## Some of the other Indian members who have been invited are Music producer Nainita Desai (The Reason I Jump, For Sama), Casting Director Nandini Shrikent (Life Of Pi and Gully Boy), Costume Designer Neeta Lulla (Jodhaa Akbar, Devdas), Documentary directors Nishtha Jain (Gulabi Gang, Lakshmi and Me), Amit Madheshiya (The Hour of Lynching, The Cinema Travellers), Producer Priya Swaminathan, and VFX supervisor Vishal Anand (Bharat, War).## The 2020 class is 45% women, 36% underrepresented ethnic/racial communities, and 49% international from 68 countries. There are 75 Oscar nominees, including 15 winners, and five recipients of Scientific and Technical Awards. Ever wondered what inspired Joseph Vijay to adapt his character look of Rayappan from the Bigil movie. Well, the creative producer Archana Kalpathi of Bigil has revealed an interesting fact about the role of an aged gangster. ## In a recent interview with a leading portal, Archana Kalpathi revealed that Rayappan's role was earlier supposed to be played by someone else as the Bigil team was not sure whether the ever young Vijay would be apt to play the character. ## However, after seeing the late actor Sushant Singh Rajput's aged look in Chhichhore, the entire team of the Tamil blockbuster convinced that they can make the actor look old. They showed Vijay the rough sketch of the look which Vijay liked and immediately agreed to play the character. ## After the news broke out on how the late actor who committed suicide on June 14 had inspired the biggest star of Tamil cinema has become a talk of the town in Bollywood industry which has come under the scanner after Sushant's untimely demise. ## Talking about Bigil, it is a sports drama film written and directed by Atlee and produced by AGS Entertainment. It was released theatrically in India on 25 October 2019 and upon its release, the film got mixed reviews. However, the film still emerged the highest-grossing Tamil film of the year 2019 and Vijay's highest-grossing film of his career. ## On the work front, Vijay has completed the shooting of his upcoming movie Master which is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Abhishek Bachchan has been busy in the past few days whether announcing his upcoming Bollywood biggie 'The Big Bull' on Disney Plus Hotstar and marking his digital debut with Amazon Prime's Breathe: Into The Shadows, he has been on cloud nine. ## Now, as his debut film Refugee which was also the marked debut for Kareena Kapoor completes 20 years on June 30, the actor has something to share with all of us. The 44-year-old on Tuesday took to his Instagram handle and penned an emotional note thanking his debut director JP Dutta for giving him an opportunity in Refugee. Along with the note, he also attached a lovely artwork that has several of his characters sketched on the outline of number 20. ## To begin with, he wrote, "Today, 20 years ago JP Dutta’s Refugee released. Marking the introduction of yours truly and @kareenakapoorkhan into the world of films. Your first film is always most dear and special; Refugee was no different. An amazing experience! One of the best entertainers of the Hindi cinema, Coolie No. 1 starring the blockbuster duo of Govinda and Karishma Kapoor has completed 25 years on June 30. The remake of the 1993 Tamil film Chinna Mapillai, Coolie No. 1 has become a classic in Hindi film history and is now considered a cult film. ## It is a comedy film directed by David Dhawan and produced by Vashu Bhagnani who made his debut with the film as a producer. Now, on the film's 25th anniversary, Vashu Bhagnani took to Twitter and recalls the fond memories that were created while making the film. The film also starred Shakti Kapoor, Kader Khan, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Harish Kumar, Kanchan, and Kulbhushan Kharbanda in the important roles.## The music of the film became popular when it released. Apart from the hit song 'Husn Hain Suhana', the song that did the trick was 'Main To Raste Se Ja Raha Tha'. Such was the magic of Coolie No. 1 music album that strengthened Anand-Milind and Govinda/David Dhawan's track record for the future collaborations.## It was not only the music that was successful but the movie also created magic at the box office and emerged as one of the highest-grossing movies of the year 1995 with the worldwide collection of ₹ 21.15 crores. ## Govinda was praised critically as well as by the audience for his role in the movie to which he received the Star Screen Special Jury Award as 'performer of the decade'. The film is written by Yunus Sajawal and co-produced by Reliance Entertainment, Rohit Shetty Picturez, Dharma Productions, and Cape of Good Films.## It stars Katrina Kaif opposite Akshay while Gulshan Grover, Abhimanyu Singh, Jackie Shroff, Nikitin Dheer, Javed Jaffrey also part of the movie. Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh reprise their roles of Singham and Simmba from the franchise's previous films respectively. ## Talking about 83, it is a sports drama film based on Team India's 1983 cricket world cup win. Ranveer Singh plays Kapil Dev who was captain of the team that won the title. It is directed by Kabir Khan and jointly produced by Kabir Khan, Vishnu Vardhan Induri, Deepika Padukone, and Sajid Nadiadwala. As the tensions between India and China along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) continue, the Gove of India has decided to ban on 59 Chinese apps which are prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defense of India, the security of the state and public order. ## The government has decided to disallow the usage of these apps both in mobile and non-mobile Internet-enabled devices. ## The Full press release statement by Government of India ## The Ministry of Information Technology, invoking it’s power under section 69A of the Information Technology Act read with the relevant provisions of the Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking of Access of Information by Public) Rules 2009 and in view of the emergent nature of threats has decided to block 59 apps ( see Appendix) since in view of information available they are engaged in activities which is prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order. ## Over the last few years, India has emerged as a leading innovator when it comes to technological advancements and a primary market in the digital space. ## At the same time, there have been raging concerns on aspects relating to data security and safeguarding the privacy of 130 crore Indians. It has been noted recently that such concerns also pose a threat to sovereignty and security of our country. The Ministry of Information Technology has received many complaints from various sources including several reports about misuse of some mobile apps available on Android and iOS platforms for stealing and surreptitiously transmitting users’ data in an unauthorized manner to servers which have locations outside India. The compilation of these data, its mining and profiling by elements hostile to national security and defence of India, which ultimately impinges upon the sovereignty and integrity of India, is a matter of very deep and immediate concern which requires emergency measures. ## The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, Ministry of Home Affairs has also sent an exhaustive recommendation for blocking these malicious apps. This Ministry has also received many representations raising concerns from citizens regarding security of data and risk to privacy relating to operation of certain apps. The Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-IN) has also received many representations from citizens regarding security of data and breach of privacy impacting upon public order issues. Likewise, there have been similar bipartisan concerns, flagged by various public representatives, both outside and inside the Parliament of India. There has been a strong chorus in the public space to take strict action against Apps that harm India’s sovereignty as well as the privacy of our citizens. ## On the basis of these and upon receiving of recent credible inputs that such Apps pose threat to sovereignty and integrity of India, the Government of India has decided to disallow the usage of certain Apps, used in both mobile and non-mobile Internet enabled devices. These apps are listed in the attached appendix. ## This move will safeguard the interests of crores of Indian mobile and internet users. Termed as the mother of all the OTT announcements, today, the streaming giant Disney Plus Hotstar announced 7 movies which will be premiered on Disney+Hotstar between July and October. The Disney Plus Hotstar yesterday announced that it will held a virtual press conference on June 29 to make big announcements. ## In today's press conference, the leading stars of the films were in attendance including Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, and Abhishek Bachchan. However, out of 7 movies, Vidyut Jammwal's Khuda Haafiz and Kunal Khemmu starrer Lootcase were also announced but both the actor were not invited in the press conference hosted by Varun Dhawan. ## After being left out by Disney+Hotstar, Vidyut Jammwal and Kunal Kemmu took to Twitter and expressed their disappointment over the decision. ## Vidyut Jammwal wrote on Twitter that "A BIG announcement for sure!! 7 films scheduled for release but only 5 are deemed worthy of representation. 2 films, receive no invitation or intimation. The film is written & directed by Faruk Kabir and produced by Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak. In the interview when an anchor asked him about his hardships since he's come from India to which the Michelin Star chef gently answered that his sense of hunger has not come from India but from New York as he was struggling there from the very bottom. ## When the host asked the chef, "You’ve cooked for the Obamas, you’ve been on the TV show with Gordon Ramsay. But it wasn’t always that way, was it? You’re not from a rich family. So, I dare say, you understand how precarious it can be in India." The entire city can feed there.
