Earning ₹656 crore worldwide(As of Now), with ₹155.35 crore (As of Now)coming from its Hindi release alone, driven by strong word-of-mouth, the essence of the story infused every small cultural nuances that connected the audience irrespective of language. Its compelling narrative and relatable characters turned it into a pan-India experience, setting benchmarks for Hindi-dubbed releases. While Kantara dominated, other releases like Coolie, Game Changer, and Mirai achieved only moderate results in Hindi markets. Coolie collected ₹37.23 crore in Hindi, supported by pre-release hype, a high-profile cast, and action-packed promotions. Game Changer earned ₹32.93 crore, contributing about 17.7% to its worldwide total of ₹186.28 crore, thanks to star power, fan anticipation, and premiere shows. Similarly, Mirai, with a pan-India cast and mythological-fantasy storyline, garnered ₹16.85 crore in Hindi from its ₹144.02 crore worldwide total. While these films had niche appeal, repeat viewings, and targeted promotions that helped them sustain for a few weeks, they could not replicate the kind of Hindi market success Kantara enjoyed. Films like Lokah Chapter 1 (₹3.74 crore) and They Call Him OG (₹3.32 crore) performed modestly, maintaining presence in select multiplexes. While films such as Coolie, Game Changer, and Mirai managed moderate collections, none could match the impact of Kantara across the northern and central belt audiences. Despite having pan-India casts, high-octane action, and visually impressive sequences, these films fell short of truly resonating with viewers. Their performance highlights that star power or production scale alone is not enough to guarantee widespread success. To achieve blockbuster status beyond the South, a film must combine compelling storytelling with cultural relatability, emotional depth, and narratives that transcend linguistic boundaries. Strong promotions, word-of-mouth momentum, and strategic release planning are important, but the core of a hit lies in connecting with audiences on an emotional and experiential level—something Kantara accomplished with remarkable finesse. Future filmmakers aiming for pan-India success must focus on stories that engage viewers beyond spectacle, creating immersion, relatability, and lasting impact. Mumbai, October 15 - Bollywood star Ajay Devgn will next be seen in the romantic comedy, De De Pyaar De 2, which is gearing up to hit the big screen on November 14. The film's trailer was launched on October 14 and received a unanimous positive reception. After DDPD2, Ajay has several films lined up. During the trailer launch, the actor shared an update on Drishyam 3. The film was supposed to start rolling in October 2025, but the shoot has been delayed due to some pending work. Revealing the same, Ajay confirmed that the final chapter of the crime suspense thriller will go on floors in December this year. Abhishek Pathak, who directed Drishyam 2, will return to helm the upcoming film, which will also feature Akshaye Khanna, Shriya Saran, Tabu, and Ishita Dutt. The movie is scheduled for release on October 2nd, 2026, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti. After Drishyam 3, Ajay will reunite with director Rohit Shetty for the fifth instalment of the blockbuster Golmaal franchise. As per reports, Golmaal 5 will go on floors in March 2026 and will be hitting the big screens in 2027. Hyderabad, October 15: One of India's most-awaited Pan India big-screen spectacles, Dragon (tentative title) starring superstar Jr. NTR and directed by Prashanth Neel, is making noise for all the right reasons. The movie is reportedly shaping up really well, amid the growing anticipation. Dragon or NTR 31 marks the first collaboration between NTR and Neel, who got the wide pan-India recognition with their recent films. Considering the top-tier talent involved and huge expectations among the nationwide audience, the makers are treating it as a proper Pan-India blockbuster, and accordingly have locked a post-theatrical streaming deal. According to the latest Telugu media reports, Dragon has finalised its streaming partner ahead of its massive theatrical release next year. The high-octane period actioner has reportedly sealed a lucrative digital deal with Netflix, with an 8-week post-theatrical window before its OTT premiere. Produced by Mythri Movie Makers in association with NTR Arts, Dragon joins the very few South Indian origin Pan India films to lock an 8-week window. Mumbai, October 14 - The Kannada film industry has achieved another global milestone as Rishab Shetty's period folk action thriller Kantara Chapter 1 has stormed past the 100 crore mark at the overseas box office on its 13th day. This makes it only the second Kannada movie ever to achieve this feat, following Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2. Produced by Hombale Films, the prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara grossed approximately 98 crores internationally through its second Monday (12 days), before crossing the coveted mark on its 13th day. With this, Kantara Chapter 1 becomes the fifth Indian film of 2025 to surpass 100 crores in overseas collections. Written, directed, and headlined by Shetty, the film has already earned more than twice the overseas total of the first instalment, which grossed around 44 crores in 2022. It now joins an elite list of Indian movies to breach the 100 crore overseas mark this year and stands as the second Kannada film after KGF 2 (214 crores in 2022) to do so. The blockbuster prequel is currently the fifth biggest Indian overseas grosser of 2025, behind Rajinikanth's Coolie (180 crores), Saiyaara (171.50 crores), Empuraan (142.25 crores), and Lokah Chapter 1 (₹119.60 crores). However, Kantara Chapter 1 is expected to soon surpass Lokah to claim the fourth spot. Kantara Chapter 1 is likely to finish above Lokah as the 4th biggest Indian overseas blockbuster of the year. Interestingly, both the biggest Kannada blockbusters, Kantara 2 and KGF 2, have been backed by Hombale Films, along with Kantara, which is currently the third-highest-grossing Kannada film ever. Meanwhile, Kantara 2 is inching closer to the 650 crore worldwide milestone. After 12 days, it has grossed around 638 crores globally, including about 540 crores from India. Hyderabad, October 14 - Powerstar Pawan Kalyan’s gangster action thriller They Call Him OG is all set for its digital premiere. Directed by Sujeeth, the high-octane entertainer is nearing the end of its theatrical run after emerging as the biggest grosser of Pawan Kalyan's career at the worldwide box office. Produced by DVV Entertainment, They Call Him OG has grossed approximately 290 crore globally so far, and will miss the 300 crore milestone. Despite that, the film has turned out to be a strong box office success, marking Pawan Kalyan's first 200-crore film and his most successful outing in years. Mumbai, October 13 - One of the biggest Telugu blockbusters of the year, Sankranthiki Vasthunam, is reportedly getting ready to be remade in Hindi with superstar Akshay Kumar. Originally directed by Anil Ravipudi and starring Venkatesh Daggubati, the action comedy was released in January 2025 and went on to gross over 250 crores worldwide. According to the recent reports, producer Dil Raju, who backed the original film, will be producing the Hindi remake. He has reportedly locked Anees Bazmee to direct the remake, marking the filmmaker's reunion with Akshay after 17 years, since the release of Singh Is Kinng (2008). According to Bollywood Hungama, the duo's next project is a reimagined version of Venkatesh-led Sankranthiki Vasthunam. The Bollywood superstar will play the lead role, originally played by Venkatesh Daggubati. It is said that Anees and Akshay loved the plot of the lead character stuck between his wife and ex-girlfriend that Sankranthiki Vasthunam rides on. Discussions are ongoing to finalise the two female leads, along with other cast and crew members. It is an interesting as well as a risky choice of Akshay Kumar to do a remake, at a time when franchise and remake films are struggling at the box office. Mumbai, October 13 - The sequel to No Entry (2005) has been in the news for a long time. Anees Bazmee, who directed the original film, will be helming the sequel, which was supposed to be headlined by Varun Dhawan, Arjun Kapoor, and Diljit Dosanjh. However, over the last few weeks, there have been rumours that the comedy film might have undergone a complete cast reshuffle. It was reported that Diljit Dosanjh has exited the movie due to other commitments, while rumours also surfaced online that Varun is also considering dropping the much-awaited film. It was reported that No Entry 2 is set to be shelved due to the exit of the main actors. Now, producer Boney Kapoor has addressed all the rumours surrounding his upcoming film. In a major relief to the fans, the filmmaker confirmed that the sequel, tentatively titled No Entry Mein Entry, is well on track, denying the rumours of the film getting shelved. In a recent interview, the producer confirmed that Varun Dhawan has not exited the project, stating, "We are making No Entry Mein Entry, and Varun and Arjun are very much in the film. We are in active discussions to lock our other hero and the rest of the cast". The sequel will reportedly feature ten heroines and be produced on a grand scale. It marks a fresh chapter in the franchise that began with Anil Kapoor, Salman Khan, and Fardeen Khan, two decades ago and became a cult film.
