The Great Gerwig's directorial has been one of the hotly anticipated Hollywood movies and it is set to win the opening weekend at the domestic (North America) box office. ## "Barbie" is having insane pre-sales domestically, as according to Deadline, the film has sold the highest number of tickets since James Cameron's "Avatar: The Way of Water" hit theaters back in mid-December of last year.## While the advance booking numbers are not revealed, it is believed to be historical, this too, when the movie will directly indulging a clash with Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer" which is raising eyebrows in the trade as well as the studio.## According to the Box Office Company (via Deadline), Barbie is outrunning every other movie so far this year. 'Shang-Chi' Star Simu Liu Reveals Why He Chose Margot Robbie's 'Barbie'

Los Angeles, May 17 - Simu Liu, who headlined Marvel Studios' "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" last year, will next be seen in "Barbie". The movie, fronted by Margot Robbie, is the first-ever live-action film based on the fashion doll after a series of animated films and television series. ## Simu Liu in a recent interview with GQ UK revealed that he had almost a zero idea about the movie when he agreed to audition for a role in the movie and revealed that it was a junior agent at his management customer who advised him to take up the movie after he told it is one of the best scripts ever. ## "He literally said this verbatim", Liu told. "He was like, 'If I could stake my career on any one script, it's the Barbie script. I really think you should do it". He said that he sent in a self-tape audition which led director Greta Gerwig to request an in-person meeting. ## Simu Liu, wanting to grab a role in the film, told the filmmaker about his dance history with a competitive hip-hop team. "She audibly guffawed, she giggle-screamed — and then I got the part", Liu said.## The "Shang-Chi" actor described "Barbie" as wild and incredibly unique, adding, "I wish I could just show you what we do day-to-day because it's crazy". The film is not a musical, but Liu said he's been in dance rehearsals aplenty for the movie. The actor also teased what it's like working on a Greta Gerwig set. "When you're doing a scene and it's working, you hear, 'HAHAHAHA!' It's the best feeling in the world.
