Los Angeles, May 12, 2021: MTV has announced that Black Widow star Scarlett Johansson will be honored with the Generation Award during the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards. ## Recipients of the award in the past have included the likes of Robert Downey Jr., Tom Cruise, Reese Witherspoon, Will Smith, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler, Sandra Bullock, Mark Wahlberg, Jamie Foxx, Ben Stiller, Chris Pratt, Mike Myers, Johnny Depp, and the “Fast & Furious” film franchise.## According to MTV, the Generation Award celebrates beloved actors whose diverse contributions to both film and television have turned them into household names. ## Johansson has been nominated at the MTV Movie & TV Awards six times before, and she took home a Golden Popcorn in 2013 for the Best Fight in "The Avengers". Los Angeles, May 8, 2021: A couple of days ago, Marvel Studios released a showreel that featured new glimpses and confirmed release dates for studios' forthcoming Phase 4 films coming in 2021, 2022, and 2023, including Captain Marvel 2, which is officially titled "The Marvels", referring to its multiple heroes with "Marvel" in their names. ## The sizzle reel didn't reveal much about "The Marvels" apart from a few glimpses, however, the studio did reveal a few hints in a recently released synopsis that teases a "cosmic adventure with Carol, Monica, and Kamala". The synopsis, which was posted on Marvel's website, says - ## "The Marvels will feature Brie Larson returning to the role of Captain Marvel/Carol Danvers. Quentin Tarantino's 'New Beverly Cinema' In Los Angeles Set To Reopen In June

Los Angeles, May 3, 2021: As the covid-19 pandemic is slowing down in North America, the theaters in the USA have started to reopen after more than a year. Among them, Los Angeles' "New Beverly Cinema", which is owned and operated by filmmaker Quentin Tarantino, is also set to see the light again.## In a post shared on its social media channels and website Saturday, the historic revival theater (located on 7165 Beverly Blvd.) announced plans to reopen on June 1. Los Angeles, April 27, 2021: The 93rd Academy Awards ceremony, which was held in the early morning (as per IST) on Monday (April 26), couldn't grab the attention of the audience, as the TV Ratings of the ceremony was all-time low as per early numbers. ## This year's Oscars joined the recent awards shows such as Grammys, Golden Globes, and SAG Awards, which witnessed a sharp decline in tv viewing from the previous year. As per early numbers, the 93rd Oscars drew 9.85 million viewers and a 1.9 rating among adults of 18-49 on Sunday. However, the final numbers may increase after they come out on Tuesday. ## Last year, the numbers were high with 23.64 million viewers and 5.3 ratings in the key ad demographic. The decline of 58 percent for Oscars 2021 is the second-highest after Golden Globes (62 percent) in the recently organized award shows. Mortal Combat Opens Well At The Domestic Box Office Despite Tough Competition With Demon Slayer

The US box office is well and truly back in the business after a horrible one year. After Godzilla vs. Kong gave a major push to the domestic theatrical business, the latest release, Mortal Kombat, and Demon Slayer have further strengthened the grip. Both Mortal Combat and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, have blown away all the expectations regarding their box office run. On Friday (April 23), Mortal Combat grossed around $9 million while Demon Slayer, with a slight edge, earned approx $9.5 million. The box office numbers for both the movies are amazing considering the fact that both are R-rated and somewhat limiting their potential audience. Plus, only 58% of US theaters are operational, and that too with just around 30% occupancy while Canada's 5.8K theaters are open with only 20% occupancy. As per the local surveys, Mortal Combat was forecast to earn less than $15 million in the opening weekend, which now seems far too low than the actual numbers once they will come out after the weekend. The movie is definitely heading for around $22-24 million in the opening weekend. The 2021 releases of the Warner Bros. are debuting simultaneously in theaters and on HBO Max. It's part of the studio’s gambit to shake up the way it's distributing its films in the COVID era. However, it was a move that was widely criticized as it will dent chances for theatrical business to recover quickly. The studio, however, announced that its movies from 2022 onwards will release in the theaters first then on HBO Max after 45 days.
