Hrithik Roshan's 'Koi Mil Gaya' Re-Release Opening Weekend Box Office Collection

Mumbai, August 7 - In 2003, Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan reunited with his father Rakesh Roshan for a science-fiction movie "Koi... Mil Gaya". It emerged as a box office success and went on to earn a cult status over the years. ## In 2023, "Koi... Mil Gaya" completes 20 years of its release, and to celebrate the occasion, the makers teamed up with PVR Inox to re-release the film on August 4 across 30 cities. The magic of the movie remained intact as it recorded housefull shows at some centers. ## The limited re-release of "Koi Mil Gaya" scored approx. 20 lakh gross in its opening weekend with a total of approx. 225 shows. On its opening day of re-release, "Koi Mil Gaya" grossed approx. 3.50 lakh, followed by approx. 6 lakh on Saturday, and approx. 10 lakh on Sunday. ## Earlier this year in June, Sunny Deol's Gadar: Ek Prem Katha was also re-released and grossed solid 1.30 crores in the opening weekend. However, that was a much bigger release than "Koi Mil Gaya", and considering that, the latter has done well on the weekend.## In its original run in 2003, "Koi Mil Gaya" had grossed approx. 80 crores at the worldwide box office, including approx. 10 crores overseas collection. The success of the movie inspired the makers to turn it into a superhero franchise. In 2006, "Krrish" (Krrish 2) was released and became a big hit, before "Krrish 3" was released in 2013 and scored a huge approx. 375 crores worldwide.## Directed by Rakesh Roshan, "Koi Mil Gaya" is produced by Rakesh Roshan's FilmKraft Production. The film is showing an excellent jump today and this has confirmed that it will cross 100 crores net by the second Sunday. ## Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani had a very good start to the second weekend and it is one of the rare mainstream Bollywood movies to score a jump on the 2nd Friday. Mumbai, August 4 - After a good first week, Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani starts the second weekend on a strong note, scoring a jump over the first Thursday collection. The jump over yesterday's collection is at least 10% and can go upto 15% which is fantastic.## The early estimate suggests 6.75-7.25 crores net on the second Friday of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. This takes the total collection to around 80 crores and now, the movie has a real shot at crossing 100 crores net by the end of the second weekend itself.## The second Friday jump is more because the ticket prices have been increased to the opening weekend level after they were reduced during the weekdays. Mumbai, August 2 - The Independence Day 2023 week is expected to be a big money spinner at the Indian box office with multiple tentpole movies lined up for release across different languages. There is Rajinikanth's much-awaited Tamil blockbuster "Jailer" as well as Chiranjeevi's Telugu movie "Bhola Shankar", and two of the highly-awaited Bollywood biggies, Akshay Kumar's "OMG 2" and Sunny Deol-fronted "Gadar 2". ## "Gadar 2: The Katha Continues", which is the sequel to the all-time blockbuster "Gadar: Ek Prem Katha" (2001) has been one of the most anticipated Bollywood movies ever since it was announced. Mumbai, July 31 - Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt-fronted "Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani" crosses 50 crores net mark after the solid first Monday. The movie had a very good opening weekend with 45.90 crores net, which is the 4th biggest first Friday-Sunday weekend for Bollywood this year.## RRKPK needed to stay strong on its first make-or-break Monday and it passes the test with flying colors. The early estimates suggest the collection is in the range of 7-7.50 crores net today, dropping around 60% from Sunday which is normal after a strong weekend collection. ## As compared to Friday, the drop in the collection of RRKPK today is in the range of 30-35% which is a fantastic hold, however, the overall collection is on the average side for a big-budget movie like this. The first Friday/opening day was itself decent with 11.10 crores net though the Saturday and Sunday jump didn't let it affect the overall weekend collection. ## The total collection of the film has reached over 53 crores net in 4 days, and RRKPK will need to remain consistent during the coming days for a good opening week. As of now, it looks like the movie will finish its first week with around 70-73 crores net which is a good result. Box Office: Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani Scores A Huge Opening Weekend Worldwide

Mumbai, July 31 - Karan Johar's directorial romantic family drama film "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani" scored a huge opening weekend at the worldwide box office, thanks to the very good performance internationally.## The movie, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, took a decent opening at the domestic box office with 11.10 crores net, before showing big jumps on Saturday and Sunday for 16.05 crores and 18.75 crores net, respectively, making it a 45.90 crores net (~54.50 crores gross) opening weekend. ## The 45.90 crores net is the 4th biggest Friday-Sunday opening weekend for Bollywood in 2023, after "Pathaan", "Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan", and "Adipurush". Overseas, RRKPK grossed approx. 34 crores in the first weekend, helping the worldwide collection of the movie to reach approx. 88.50 crores which are superb. It will cross 100 crores mark by tomorrow.## RRKPK did well in North America with a gross collection of approx. $1.80 million (14.80 crores) in the first weekend. It could have scored more but lack of showcasing due to the juggernaut of "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" affect RRKPK's biz in this market. In the UK, it scored approx. $460K (3.80 crores) opening weekend. Box Office: Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani Second Day/First Saturday Early Estimates

Mumbai, July 29 - After a decent opening day of 11.10 crores net, Karan Johar's "Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani" witnesses a solid jump of over 40% today, on its second at the domestic box office. Positive word of mouth comes into play today as it scores one of the biggest second-day jumps post the covid-19 pandemic for a major Bollywood release. ## The early estimates suggest the second-day collection in the range of 15.50-16.50 crores, which takes the total net collection to around 27 crores in two days. The movie is strong in multiplexes which witnesses a solid jump while non-multiplexes also show a minor improvement over opening-day sales. ## RRKPK needed a big jump today after not so strong opening day and the makers will be happy with the jump. The best-performing city of the movie is Delhi while it is also collecting well in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. ## The film should show further jump tomorrow on Sunday, though the jump wouldn't be as big as today. Mumbai, July 28 - Karan Johar's directorial return "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani" has a decent opening at the box office. The movie started on a decent note in the morning shows but due to super solid word of mouth, it showed a very good jump in the evening and night shows. ## The early estimates suggest the opening in the range of 11-12 crores net for this Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt-starrer. The opening of the movie in the mid-10s would have been a very good one considering the budget but that is not the case anymore as it won't reach there.## RRKPK is strong in multiplexes but not that strong in single screens which is expected for this kind of genre. However, it was much for the movie to cross the double-digit mark which it has comfortably done. The opening of 11-12 crores net has given RRKPK a chance to grow over the weekend as word of mouth seems to be very positive. ## The movie should show gains on Saturday and Sunday as the 3-day weekend could well be around 40-45 crores net. Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor's 'Bawaal' Hits Major Controversy

Mumbai, July 28 - Well-known Bollywood filmmaker Nitesh Tiwari's romantic drama "Bawaal" starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor was supposed to be an experimental love story in the backdrop of World War II but it is turning into a major controversial attempt on this historical chapter.## The film has been accused of trivializing and demeaning the deaths of millions of Jews killed during the Holocaust by using Auschwitz as a metaphor for relationship problems. Many critics in India and internationally have slammed the film for drawing parallels to Jews suffering in Auschwitz camp and dying. ## Produced by Nadiadwala Entertainment, "Bawaal" tells the story of a history teacher who is embarrassed by his new wife's epilepsy. As they travel together to Europe to visit historic second world war sites, they fall in love with each other.## The movie receives a strong rebuke from the Simon Wiesenthal Center (SWC), an NGO dedicated to the well-being of Jews as well as the Holocaust victims. The NGO has issued a statement demanding the removal of the film from Amazon Prime Video which is the exclusive streaming partner of the film. ## "Auschwitz is not a metaphor. It is the quintessential example of Man's capacity for Evil. By having the protagonist in this movie declare that 'Every relationship goes through their Auschwitz', Nitesh Tiwari, trivializes and demeans the memory of 6 million murdered Jews and millions of others who suffered at the hands of Hitler's genocidal regime", SWC said in a statement.## The NGO called on Amazon to remove the movie from its platform and to stop "monetizing" the Holocaust. "If the filmmaker's goal was to gain PR for their movie by reportedly filming a fantasy sequence at the Nazi death camp, he has succeeded. Amazon Prime should stop monetizing Bawaal by immediately removing this banal trivialization of the suffering and systematic murder of millions of victims of the Nazi Holocaust", the statement further read. Prime Video has not responded yet.## "Bawaal" was meant for theatrical release before makers changed their minds and send the movie directly to Amazon Prime Video.
