Box Office: 'Mufasa - The Lion King' Tops 100 Crore Gross In India

Mumbai, December 29 - Disney's animated adventure Mufasa: The Lion King has topped 100 crores gross collection at the Indian box office, becoming the third Hollywood movie of 2024 to achieve the feat after Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire and Deadpool & Wolverine. ## Directed by Barry Jenkins, Mufasa crossed the 100 crores gross mark on its second Saturday (9th day) as EOD gross is expected to be 108+ crores (including 3D charges). The movie has benefitted from the voiceover of superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Mahesh Babu in Hindi and Telugu languages.## The original English version of the film is the top contributor with around 39 crores gross, closely followed by Hindi with 37 crores gross while Telugu and Tamil have generated around 32 crores gross in 9 days. 'The Batman 2' Release Date Postponed

Los Angeles, December 28 - Warner Bros. Pictures has pushed back director Matt Reeves' The Batman 2 by a year and it will now arrive in 2027. The film is the follow-up to Reeves' The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson in the titular role. ## The superhero sequel was originally supposed to be released on October 2, 2026, but will now shift a year and debut on October 1, 2027, in Imax, Warner Bros. announced on Friday. Mumbai, December 24 - Disney's animated adventure film Mufasa: The Lion King is heading towards 100 crores gross collection at the Indian box office. The film has weathered Pushpa 2 - The Rule Storm and has performed better than expected. ## Mufasa, the prequel to 2019's The Lion King, was expected to do well in India due to the franchise's popularity and the voiceover of superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Mahesh Babu. However, the box office carnage of Pushpa 2 threatened Mufasa's prospects, which didn't happen. ## In 7 days so far, Mufasa has grossed around 88 crores (including 3D charges) in India which is a very good collection. It performed brilliantly on Christmas Day (December 25) and Boxing Day. Mumbai, December 23 - Disney's animated adventure drama Mufasa: The Lion King was the number 1 movie at the worldwide box office this past weekend, however, it failed to match the high expectations and largely underperformed at the domestic and overseas box office. ## The Barry Jenkins' directorial prequel to The Lion King (2019) grossed just $35 million in its domestic (North America) opening weekend, well behind the industry's projection of $50+ million. Overseas also, the film didn't leave up to the expectations at $87.2 million for a worldwide cume of $122.2 million.## While the movie topped the global box office, it landed far behind pre-release expectations of $130 million overseas and $180 million globally. China was the biggest market for Mufasa with $7.8 million, followed by France with $7.7 million, and Mexico with $7.1 million. ## Meanwhile, the movie did well at the Indian box office, benefitting from the voiceover of superstars Shah Rukh Khan and Mahesh Babu. In its 3-day opening weekend, the film grossed approximately 46 crores (including 3D charges). The original The Lion King grossed 65+ crores in India in its first weekend. ## Mufasa now hopes to regain the lost ground during the Christmas and New Year holidays. 'Jumanji 3' Sets Official Release Date

Los Angeles, October 29 — Sony Pictures announces that the next instalment of the adventure comedy franchise is officially in development and will be released before Christmas 2026, nearly 7 years after the last movie Jumanji: The Next Level (2019).## According to Deadline, director Jake Kasdan and star posse Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan are in talks and expected to return for Jumanji 3. The film will hit the screens on December 11, 2026, the same pre-Christmas slot that previous films in the Jumanji franchise released.## The third instalment of the rebooted Jumanji franchise is currently slated for a solo release on December 11 but there is Disney's untitled Star Wars movie and Warner Bros/Legendary’s supposed release of Dune 3 on December 18.## The original Jumanji was released in 1995, before its spin-off, Zathura: A Space Adventure launched in 2005. The franchise was rebooted with Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) which went on to gross $962.5M at the global box office, followed by 2019's Jumanji: The Next Level doing another $801.6M.## Stay tuned...

Box Office: 'Venom: The Last Dance' Scores A Good Opening Weekend In India

Mumbai, October 27 - Tom Hardy-fronted superhero movie Venom: Let There Be Carnage has had a good extended 4-day opening weekend and one of the biggest for a Hollywood movie of 2024 at the Indian box office. ## After scoring 5.50+ crores gross on its Thursday opening day, Venom 3 showed a good jump over the weekend to gross approximately 38.25 crores in 4 days which is the third biggest for a Hollywood title of the year after Deadpool & Wolverine (84 crores gross) and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (47 crore gross). ## The 39 crore gross opening weekend collection makes Venom 3 the second highest-grossing film of the franchise after crossing Venom: Let There Be Carnage which grossed approximately 28.50 crores in 2021. It will become the biggest grosser in the series by topping Venom (41+ crores gross) by tomorrow. ## Venom 3 is already the 4th highest-grossing Hollywood movie of 2024 at the Indian box office. Box Office: 'Venom: The Last Dance' Debuts With $175 Million Worldwide

Los Angeles, October 27 - Sony Pictures' Marvel movie Venom: The Last Dance debuted with a strong $175 million in its opening weekend at the worldwide box office, thanks to the international markets where the movie overperformed. ## The Tom Hardy-starrer superhero movie, however, has had a lower-than-expected opening at the domestic (North America) box office, grossing $51 million in its 3-day opening weekend. This is the lowest opening in the Venom franchise and the lowest ever for a comic book trilogy. ## In the Venom franchise, the film is nowhere close to the opening of the first two movies. The 2018 Venom scored $80 million on opening weekend, followed by Venom: Let There Be Carnage which opened to a then-pandemic record $90 million in North America. ## Overseas, Venom 3 performed fantastically and grossed $124 million over the 5-day opening weekend from 64 markets. This is way more than Venom: Let There Be Carnage ($62.3 million) and just behind Venom which scored $125.2 million internationally in its opening weekend. ## China was the biggest overseas market of Venom 3 with $46 million, followed by Mexico ($7.3 million), South Korea ($5.8 million), the UK ($5.7 million) and India ($4.6 million / 39 crores gross). Tom Holland's 'Spider-Man 4' Gets Official Release Date

Los Angeles, October 26 - Tom Holland officially returns to play Spider-Man as Sony Pictures has set Spider-Man 4 release date in July 2026. Shang-Chi director Destin Daniel Cretton will direct this Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film. ## Recently, Holland said that the filming for Spider-Man 4 will commence in the summer of 2025 and now, Sony has confirmed that it would be released on July 24, 2026, two months after Marvel and Disney's Avengers: Doomsday which comes out on May 1, 2026.## Interestingly, Christopher Nolan's untitled next movie will reportedly be released on July 17, 2026, and it stars Tom Holland in the lead role with Matt Damon. This means Holland will have two back-to-back releases just a week apart. ## This is also not the first time a Spider-Man movie is releasing shortly after the Avengers film. Previously, Tom Holland-led Spider-Man: Far From Home was released just two months after Avengers: Endgame and it went on to gross over a billion dollars at the worldwide box office. ## The yet untitled Spider-Man 4 is the 4th Spidey movie featuring Holland in the titular role. Box Office: 'Venom: The Last Dance' Takes A Good Opening In India

Mumbai, October 25 - Sony Pictures' superhero movie Venom: The Last Dance has taken a good start at the Indian box office. The movie was released a day earlier than the North American debut on Wednesday. ## The film, despite the shows starting post-afternoon, beat the first two Venom movies' openings to score one of the biggest starts for Sony Pictures' Spider-Man Universe. It scored approximately 5.60 crores gross ($665K) on all versions on its first day. ## This is the best start for a Venom movie in India, beating the opening of the first Venom which minted approximately 5.25 crores gross collection in 2018. The second film, Venom: Let There Be Carnage was released during the Covid-19 pandemic and minted approximately 3.50+ crores gross opening. ## The initial word of mouth for Venom 3 seems to be mixed which has been the case with the previous films in the franchise as well. Russo Brothers Provide 'Avengers: Doomsday' Filming Update

Los Angeles, October 22 - At the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) earlier this year, Marvel Studios president Kavin Feige stunned the entertainment world by announcing that Robert Downey Jr. would return to MCU to play the antagonist as Doctor Doom in the upcoming Avengers movies - Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. ## Feige also announced that the Russo Brothers would make their Marvel comeback to direct both - Doomsday and Secret Wars which were scheduled to be released on 1 May 2026, and 7 May 2027, respectively. Now, Russo Brothers have provided a filming update for Avengers: Doomsday. ## During an interview at New York Comic Con with Collider, the director duo confirmed that Doomsday will officially begin filming in the spring of 2025. It was also reported that both movies will be shot separately unlike Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019), both directed by Russos, which were filmed simultaneously.## While not much has been revealed yet about the film, the filmmaker duo confirmed that all four core members of The Fantastic Four will also star in Doomsday alongside Robert Downey Jr. The Fantastic Four: First Steps, starring Pedro Pascal, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Vanessa Kirby, and Joseph Quinn, is slated for July 25, 2025, release.## There have been a lot of rumours about who will feature in the next Avengers movie, however, other than the aforementioned actors, only Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch is confirmed to star in the film and the actor himself confirmed the development recently. ## Stay tuned...
