Mani Ratnam's 'Ponniyin Selvan - Part 1' Release Date Announced With First Look Posters

Chennai, March 2 - Filmmaker Mani Ratnam's long-awaited, "Ponniyin Selvan - Part 1" gets its release in theaters. The epic historical fiction film based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel of the same name will be hitting worldwide theaters on September 30, in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam, languages. ## "PS1" is produced by Mani Ratnam, under his production studio Madras Talkies, along with Allirajah Subaskaran's Lyca Productions. The H Vinoth-directed, on Sunday, jumped around 12% for an estimated Rs. 19 crores net collection. The jump has helped the film to finish the 4-day opening weekend on high with Rs. 79.15 crores (estimated) net in India. The Sunday total also helped the action thriller to go past Rs. 100 crores gross at the worldwide box office. Overseas, the film has grossed approx. Rs. 24.7 crores, pushing the worldwide total to approx. Rs. 116 crores. "Valimai" has become Ajith Kumar's 7th film to reach past Rs. 100 crores worldwide. Box Office: Ajith Kumar's 'Valimai' Shows Big Jump On 3rd Day

Chennai, February 26 - Ajith Kumar's high octane Tamil actioner, "Valimai" shows a major jump on its 3rd day, after a drastic drop on the second day at the Indian box office. As per the early estimates, the H Vinoth-directed has netted Rs. 16 crores, going up by 38% from Friday collection of Rs. 11.6 crores. It took an opening of Rs. 31.7 crores, but dropped 63.41% on the second day. The biz on day 3 picked up from afternoon shows. As compared to the second day, the afternoon occupancy went up by 63% on the 3rd day while evening occupancy jumped by 25%, helping the 3-days total to reach an estimated Rs. 59.30 crores for all languages. "Valimai" received criticism for its lengthy run-time, and the makers were quick to rectify that and trimmed 14 minutes of the total time. The shorter than the original version has been screened from Saturday onwards, which might have also helped its Saturday biz and also improved word of mouth. Ajith Kumar's 'Valimai' Shorter Than Original Version To Be Screened From Second Day Onwards

Chennai, February 26 - Tamil action thriller, "Valimai", starring Ajith Kumar has opened with a bang at the box office, breaking several past records. ## Released on Feb. 24, the H Vinoth-directed has set a new record in Tamil Nadu, netting Rs. 25.30 crores on the first day. Producer Boney Kapoor has said in a recent interview that the film has come out as the best day one opening in TN on a non-holiday.## While "Valimai" mostly received a positive response from critics and audiences alike, the makers have taken note of the film's critical part, which is its prolonged run-time, especially in the second half. According to reports, Ajith Kumar, producer Boney Kapoor, and director Vinoth have taken the feedback seriously and have decided to trim the film by 14 minutes in order to make it racier. ## It is said that the Hindi version of the film gets trimmed by 15 minutes while the other version faces a 14-minutes trimming, including 2 minutes from the first half and 12 minutes from the second half. The reports state that makers have also decided to remove the first song, Naanga Vera Maari from the Hindi version. The original version was 179 minutes long which has now been reduced to 165 minutes (2 hours 45 minutes). ## "Valimai" has been praised for its high octane action sequence which, many believe, are on par with Hollywood films. Chennai, February 19 - Kollywood superstar Thalapathy Vijay is currently busy shooting the final segments of his upcoming movie Beast which will hit theatres on 14th April this year. ## As always there will be a huge amount of curiosity among his fans and well-wishers of Vijay to know what lies ahead. Apart from "Beast", he will next feature in Telugu director Vamsi Paidipally's next directorial, which will be bilingual. The shoot for the same is expected to begin shortly.## The "Bigil" actor is also reportedly in talks with Lokesh Kanagaraj and Atlee for his next projects after "Thalapathy 66". With Atlee, the Tamil superstar previously worked on "Theri" (2016), "Mersal" (2017), and "Bigil" (2019). All three films were big hits and established Atlee as a popular name in Tamil cinema.## As of now, Thalapathy Vijay is all set to return to the big screens with Beast in April. Kamal Haasan's 'Vikram' To Release Two Weeks After Thalapathy Vijay-Starrer 'Beast'!

Chennai, February 18 - The month of April 2022 will see a few of the biggest Indian movies hitting big screens. Pan India biggie, "KGF: Chapter 2" will be released on April 14 and clashing with Thalapathy Vijay's Tamil blockbuster "Beast" at the box office. ## Now, according to industry insiders, Tamil superstar Kamal Haasan's "Vikram" is also looking for an April release. The action thriller, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, is nearing its shoot completion, with just ten days of shoot left in the bag.## It is reported that the climax action sequence between Kamal Haasan and Vijay Sethupathi was recently completed which was shot over a period of 15 days. As for the release date, the reports have claimed that it will be released on April 28, two weeks after Thalapathy's "Beast". ## Interestingly, "Vikram" will compete with Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, and Samantha Ruth Prabhu's "Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal" at the box office. It is written, directed, and produced by Vignesh Shivan. ## "Vikram", which is produced by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International, also features Fahadh Faasil in the lead role. It is the first time when the trio of Kamal, Vijay Sethupathi, and FaFa has come together to share screen space. ## The film is not a sequel to the Vikram by name, though the film's official title teaser (released 7 November 2020) used a remixed version of the theme song from the 1986 film. Chennai, February 15 - Thalapathy Vijay's action thriller "Beast" is readying for April 14, 2022, release in theaters worldwide. The makers kick-started the online promotion of the film by releasing the first song, Arabic Kuthu, on Valentine's Day, and it has become an instant hit on YouTube and other social media platforms. ## Arabic Kuthu, sung by Anirudh Ravichander & Jonita Gandhi and composed by Anirudh from the lyrics penned by SivaKarthikeyan, was expected to become a big hit knowing the massive fan following of Thalapathy Vijay. Chennai, February 15 - National Award-winning South Indian choreographer, Brinda, who is making her directorial debut with upcoming Tamil romantic-comedy, "Hey Sinamika", has revealed why she picked this title for her directorial debut. ## "Hey Sinamika", starring Dulquer Salmaan, Kajal Aggarwal, and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead roles, is scheduled to release in theaters on March 3. Brinda, who considers filmmaker Mani Ratnam her guru, had choreographed a song titled 'Aye Sinamika' for his film 'OK Kanmani'.## Fortunately, the director says that by a strange stroke of coincidence, the word 'Sinamika' also means 'angry girls', and that fits perfectly with the film's plotline. Sivakarthikeyan's Next 'Don' To Follow 'Doctor's' Release Model!

Chennai, February 15 - Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan is gearing up for the release of his next big campus entertainer "Don", which is slated for March 25th release in theaters worldwide. ## Directed by Cibi Chakaravarthi, "Don" is produced by Allirajah Subaskaran of Lyca Productions in association with Sivakarthikeyan Productions.
