Chennai, June 14 - A sequel to superstar Rajinikanth's horror-comedy film "Chandramuki" has been announced by Lyca Productions. The sequel will be headlined by Raghava Lawrence while actor-comedian Vadivelu will be reprising his role from the original movie. ## "Chandramuki 2" will see P Vasu returning to the director's chair. MM Keeravani will be scoring the music for the film with cinematography by RD Rajasekar, and art direction by Thotta Tharani. Interestingly, the movie was also remade in Hindi as "Bhool Bhulaiyaa" (2007), and its sequel "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2" is currently playing in theaters with a blockbuster box office collection behind it. ## Other details regarding the plot and the cast of "Chandramuki 2" are yet to be announced. Chennai, June 10 - Director Lokesh Kanagaraj is in the top form as he has delivered another blockbuster in the form of "Vikram", fronted by Kamal Haasan. Lokesh has directed only 4 films till now and all of them have been huge box office hits. ## Meanwhile, the talented filmmaker is creating his own cinematic universe and "Vikram" is the second film in that. It continues from Karthi's "Kaithi" which made Lokesh an overnight sensation. The director is now working on the sequel to 2019's film and it will be his next film in his unofficial LCU (Lokesh Cinematic Universe). ## During the recent Twitter session with fans, director Lokesh gave hints about Arjun Das's character, and now, he has revealed basic plot details of the movie. "Kaithi 2" will mainly focus on Karthi's character 'Dilli' and will showcase his background story. ## Lokesh Kanagaraj, during the success meet of "Vikram", revealed that Dilli is a Kabbadi player and won many cups while he was in jail. In the original movie, Dilli carried a bag with him and Lokesh revealed that there were cups in his bags which he won while playing Kabbadi in jail. As he didn't explore the aforementioned things in the first part, he will mainly focus on Dilli's background story and Kabbadi. ## There is no shooting timeline set yet for "Kaithi 2". Lokesh will next focus on Thalapathy Vijay's film which is expected to begin later this year. The action thriller, written and directed by brilliant Lokesh Kanagaraj, has become the 4th highest-grossing Indian movie of 2022. ## "Vikram" was expected to become a box office success, however, the makers wouldn't have thought this sort of response, both domestically and overseas box office. After the first week, the movie stands at 251.50 crores gross worldwide, including 168.5 crores at the domestic box office. ## Produced by Raaj Kamal Films International, "Vikram" has also topped 100 crores gross in Tamil Nadu state alone in just 7 days. It has become the 4th movie of 2022, after "Valimai", "Beast", and "KGF Chapter 2", to reach 100 crores in Tamil Nadu. The director is creating his own cinematic universe called 'Lokesh Cinematic Universe', and "Vikram" is the second film in it.## The first film in LCU was Karthi's "Kathi" (2019), which became a huge hit and made Kanagaraj an overnight sensation. "Vikram" continues from "Kaithi" and follows a black-ops squad led by Amar tracking down masked vigilantes, while he learns of a drug syndicate group called Vetti Vagaiyara, led by Sandhanam, who wants the missing drugs to be delivered to his cold-blooded boss Rolex. ## The next film in the series will be "Kaithi 2" and the director has himself confirmed the movie in a recent Twitter session with fans. During an #AskDirLokesh Twitter session, one user asked how did Arjun Das' character (named Anbudoss "Anbu") alive after he was presumed dead in "Kaithi". ## Responding to the user, Lokesh said that he wasn't dead in the movie as only his jew was broken. The film opened to superlative responses from the audience and also won critical acclaim with flying colors. ## The Lokesh Kanagaraj-directed movie is a total firecracker at the Tamil Nadu box office. After taking the 3rd biggest opening in 2022, the movie concluded the opening weekend with Kamal Haasan's career-best 67.10 crores gross in Tamil Nadu state. The Sunday collection of the movie is more than the opening day at the TN box office, which is the rarest achievement for a top-tier Tamil movie. ## There is a crazy demand among the moviegoers at the ticket window for the "Vikram" movie. Looking at the response, the movie might reach 100 crores gross at the TN box office in the opening week itself. The movie has also topped all-Indian domestic 100 crores gross in just three days, currently stands at 110.8 crores. ## While "Vikram" is ruling the Tamil Nadu box office like a boss, it has also become the highest-grossing Tamil movie of 2022 at the Kerala box office. After KGF Chapter 2 and RRR registered huge numbers over there, the latest domestic blockbusters, Vikram and Major opened big on the opening weekend in the USA. ## Kamal Haasan-fronted top-reviewed action thriller "Vikram" opened this weekend and scored $1.75 million, including Thursday previews. The movie opened at number 9 this weekend, above "Crimes of the Future". The Lokesh Kanagaraj-directed has been released in 450 theaters and made $1889 per theater, as per Hollywood trade analysts Gitesh Pandya.## On the other hand, Adivi Sesh-starrer biographical action drama "Major" opened at number 12 at the USA box office this weekend. It collected $900K, including Thursday previews. Released by Weekend Cinema, the movie debuted in 360 theaters, making $1736 per theater. It has already become Adivi Sesh's biggest grosser in the USA and will cross $1 million soon. ## Meanwhile, "Vikram" is going berserk at the box office, grossing over 140 crores worldwide. This includes an estimated 107 crores domestically and approx. 35 crores overseas. "Major" on the other hand, scored 24.5 crores gross in the first two days. Chennai, June 5 - Raaj Kamal Films International's production, Vikram is putting up a sensational show at the box office not only domestically but overseas also. The Kamal Haasan-fronted movie was expected to score big but it has exceeded those expectations by a big margin by collecting 100 crores worldwide gross in just two days. ## Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, "Vikram" took the second-biggest opening for a Tamil movie in 2022 with 37.5 crores gross at the domestic box office. It grossed 23.10 crores in Tamil Nadu alone, which is the 3rd biggest in 2022. With super positive word of mouth, the action thriller put up one of the strongest holds on the second day, grossing 33.6 crores for a total of 71.1 crores domestic gross. ## "Vikram" dropped a little over 10% on the second day (Saturday), which is probably the lowest dip ever for a top-tier Tamil movie. Usually, South Indian films tend to take a huge drop on the second day which was not the case with "Vikram" which remained almost unbreakable. In Tamil Nadu, it did gross a fantastic 20.10 crores on Saturday, boosting the total gross to 43.30 crores in the home state. ## Meanwhile, the overseas box office collection of "Vikram" is also phenomenal with 32 crores gross in two days. In the USA, the movie has grossed $1.3 million (10.08 crores) so far. The total worldwide gross of the movie now stands at 103.10 crores, which is the fastest ever for a Kamal Haasan movie. ## "Vikram" was released in Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu languages. While Tamil collections are extraordinary, the movie has done very well in Telugu states by grossing 7.5 crores in two days. The Hindi version has underperformed and has collected only 60 lakh net.## Vikram was one of the highly-anticipated Tamil movies that mark director Lokesh's first collaboration with Kamal Haasan.
