A Massive Piracy Attack On Vicky Kaushal's Box Office Blockbuster 'Chhaava'
Chhaava is currently running in its 6th week and nearing 800 crores gross collection. The movie will run in theatres for a minimum of 8 weeks before it is made available on OTT, however, even before the deadline, it has been hit by massive piracy and the investigation has begun for the same.
According to the reports, Chhaava's HD prints have been leaked online and the Mumbai Police is said to have registered a case in this matter. The movie was deliberately leaked online through pirated sites on more than 1800 digital links. This isn't the first time a Bollywood film has leaked before its official digital release as there have been many such cases in the past.
It is said that producer Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films anticipated this illegal activity and reportedly hired an anti-piracy agency to handle this matter legally. The South Cyber Cell has reportedly registered a case under sections 316 (2) and 308 (3) of the Indian Penal Code (BNS), sections 51, 63 and 65 (A) of the Copyright Act, sections 43 and 66 of the Information Technology (IT) Act.
Chhaava is directed by Laxman Utekar and it stars Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj alongside Rashmika Mandanna as Yesubai Bhonsale and Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb. It was released on February 14 and in 35 days so far, it has grossed approximately 773 crores worldwide, including 683 crores gross in India (Hindi and Telugu).
