'Alien: Romulus' Breaks A Box Office Record In IMAX
Mumbai, September 20 - 20th Century Studios' sci-fi horror thriller Alien: Romulus has scripted a box office history to become the highest-grossing horror movie of all time in IMAX.



Directed by Fede Álvarez, the 7th movie in the Alien franchise has so far grossed over $40 million in IMAX format since its debut in mid-August 2024, making it the biggest horror grosser in this premium format.



Alien: Romulus is going strong and recently crossed $300 million at the worldwide box office. The movie has so far grossed approximately $332 million, becoming the highest-grossing horror movie of the year. The film's production budget is $80 million.



At the domestic (North American) box office, the movie has grossed $102 million while overseas collection stands at $230 million. It is the second highest-grossing movie in the Alien franchise, after Ridley Scott's 2012 prequel Prometheus ($403.3 million).



Produced by Scott Free Productions and Brandywine Productions, Alien: Romulus is set between the events of Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986). It follows three pairs of siblings, all downtrodden young space colonists, who encounter hostile creatures while scavenging a derelict space station.
