All-Time Blockbuster 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' Final Worldwide Box Office Collection
DDLJ emerged as a cult classic and is considered one of the greatest Indian films of all time. It was one of only three Hindi films in the reference book - 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die and was placed 12th on the British Film Institute's list of top Indian films of all time.
Produced by Yash Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films, DDLJ won several accolades at different shows, including the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment and its soundtrack album became one of the most popular of the 1990s.
DDLJ was a box office phenomenon and broke several records upon its release in 1995. The movie went on to gross over 100 crores at the worldwide box office and was the highest-grossing Indian title of the year (not adjusted with inflation). It was also the second highest-grossing Indian movie at that time, behind only Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!
The movie sold approximately 4.80 crores of tickets at the Indian box office, which is the 5th highest ever for a Hindi movie and the 8th highest for an Indian title.
