All-Time Highest-Grossing Films In Tamil Nadu; Thalapathy Vijay's 'Leo' Becomes Number One
Chennai, November 14 - Thalapathy Vijay's Leo has become the highest-grossing film ever in Tamil Nadu, beating Mani Ratnam's "Ponniyin Selvan - 1" to emerge the Tamil Nadu industry hit. The action thriller film is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Seven Screen Studio.



"Leo" has scored a little over 213 crores in Tamil Nadu in 26 days, which helped it to go past "Ponniyin Selvan - 1's" a little under 213 crore lifetime collection in the state, as per our box office record. The Thalapathy Vijay-led blockbuster has done it in record time despite the mixed word-of-mouth.



Superstar Rajinikanth's "Jailer" and Kamal Haasan's "Vikram" are the 3rd and the 4th biggest grossers in Tamil Nadu while SS Rajamouli's "Baahubali 2" is the 5th biggest grosser, and it is the only non-Tamil-movie in the list. Below are the top-grossing films in Tamil as of November 13, 2023.

"Leo" is expected to finish around 215-218 crores gross in Tamil Nadu and this record is expected to remain untouched for some time. Meanwhile, the movie has crossed the 600 crores gross at the worldwide box office, as reported earlier. It has become only the 3rd Tamil movie of all time to achieve the feat.



The third LCU - Lokesh Cinematic Universe title has grossed approximately 398.20 crores in India and around 203 crores overseas (studio estimates) for a worldwide 601.20 crores gross collection so far. It will be finishing around 605 crores with having a shot at crossing "Jailer" to become the second highest-grossing Tamil movie ever.
