Box Office: Ajay Devgn's Drishyam 2 Set For Double Digit Start
"Drishyam 2" is a remake of the 2021 Malayalam film of the same name and also the sequel to "Drishyam" (2015). As far as the advance booking is concerned, "Drishyam 2" is having a much better response than several recent Bollywood movies, thanks to, again its teaser/trailer and the fact that it is the next chapter of an already superhit first part.
"Drishyam 2" is not a typical Bollywood masala film, which used to go bonkers from the opening day itself. It is a movie that will heavily depend on audience word of mouth, and hence, spot booking will be crucial for the final opening day or weekend numbers. However, one would expect it to be a must-watch film considering the fact that the makers haven't changed the script much from the original Malayalam movie that was hailed as one of the best thrillers.
The release size of "Drishyam 2" will also play a big role in its opening day numbers. As per industry insiders, the film will be released on approx. 3300 screens across the country which is good enough for it to take a healthy start and set up the stage for a very good opening weekend, expecting 45 crores if talks are positive.
The original "Drishyam", which was released in 2015, took an opening of 5.4 crores and after 7 years, its sequel is set for a comfortable 2X start. The film stars Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran, and Akshaye Khanna in lead roles with Ishita Dutta, Mrunal Jadhav, and Rajat Kapoor in supporting roles.
