Box Office: Article 370 Scores A Good First Week
The movie, based on the real events that led to the abrogating of Article 370 in J&K, was released on February 23 and opened to a good collection of around 5.9 crores at a discounted price. Due to positive word of mouth, the movie witnessed growth over the weekend and minted approximately 23 crores net in the first 3 days.
Article 370 witnessed a drop of over 60% on Monday for around 3.25 crores net but since then, the movie showed consistency in collection and remained over 3 crores net during the weekdays. The first week collection of the film is around 35.50 crores net which is good considering the theme.
The 35.50 crores net collection is the fifth biggest first-week total for a Yami Gautam-starrer in the leading role, after Uri, OMG 2, Bala, and Kaabil. Article 370 has also become Yami's 8th biggest net grosser and by the end of the second weekend, the movie is expected to reach around 50 crores net.
At the worldwide box office, Article 370 is nearing 50 crores gross after the first week. It has grossed around 41.75 crores in India and overseas collection is around 6.25 crores for approximately 48 crores worldwide first week total.
