Box Office: Malayalam Romantic-Comedy 'Premalu' Emerges Huge Blockbuster

Directed by Girish A. D., Premalu emerged as a huge blockbuster and crossed 50 crores worldwide. Starring Naslen K. Gafoor and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles, it is the highest-grossing and first Malayalam film of 2024 to top 50 crores so far.

Released on February 9, Premalu made on a budget of just around 3-4 crores, and at the time of writing this piece, it has surpassed the 50 crores mark globally. In India, the movie has minted approximately 29+ crores gross while overseas business is around 21 crores.

Premalu opened to super positive reviews and the movie has exceeded expectations at the box office. It is competing neck-to-neck with superstar Mammootty's Bramayugam, which is also performing brilliantly at the box office and will soon join the 50 crores club.

Produced by Fahadh Faasil, Dileesh Pothan and Syam Pushkaran, the movie revolves around Sachin, a struggling graduate who decides to leave for Hyderabad for GATE coaching to land a decent job and ends up falling in love with Reenu, a software employee placed in Hyderabad. How their different worlds meet, and how Reenu's toxic TL/colleague Aadhi fits into the equation, forms the rest of the story.
