Box Office: Mohanlal's 'Empuraan' Set For Record Opening
Empuraan is the first big Pan India film with the potential to score big outside the home market. The buzz for the movie is soaring with the release date getting nearer and the same can be seen in the pre-sales which is easily the best ever for a Mollywood title.
The advance booking trend of Empuraan in the overseas market has been fantastic and as of writing this piece, the non-domestic pre-sales of the movie are around 6-7 crores gross. It is set to become the first Mollywood title to score $1+ million bookings and with 8 days still to go for release, the bookings will be higher.
As said, Empuraan is guaranteed to score the record opening for a Malayalam film. Currently, Mohanlal's Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea is the biggest opener with around 20 crore gross worldwide, and Empuraan will beat this record by a very good margin.
Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran and produced by Aashirvad Cinemas and Sree Gokulam Movies, Empuraan stars Mohanlal as Khureshi-Ab'raam / Stephen Nedumpally, alongside an ensemble cast consisting of Sukumaran, Abhimanyu Singh, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Saniya Iyappan, Sachin Khedekar, among others in key roles. It is scheduled to be released on March 27 in Malayalam, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, and Tamil languages.
