Mithun Chakraborty To Be Honoured With Dadasaheb Phalke Award
New Delhi, September 30 - Actor-politician Mithun Chakraborty has been announced as the recipient of the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest government honour accorded for contributions in the field of cinema.
"I am very happy. I have never asked for anything for myself from anyone in my life. When I received a call from the Home Ministry informing me that I was being awarded the Padma Bhushan, I was silent for a minute because I had not expected it", the actor said.
Mithun Chakraborty has worked in over 350 films across different languages over a career spanning almost 5 decades. He is one of the very few actors to have won the National Award for his debut movie, Mrigayaa (1976).
Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw took to X to announce that the three-time National Award-winning veteran actor will receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony on October 8, 2024.
