Mrunal Thakur Joins Aditya Roy Kapur In Thadam Hindi Remake

Mumbai, September 6, 2021: Bollywood filmmakers continue to make Hindi remakes of South Indian films. Keeping the trend going, producers, Bhushan Kumar and Murad Khetani recently announced the Hindi remake of Tamil hit, Thadam. The movie went through casting changes as Sidharth Malhotra opted out of the project and Aditya Roy Kapur stepped in as the lead.



While Sidharth Malhotra was out of the project, Mrunal Thakur remained attached to this project from the very beggning. The makers have now reconfirmed her appearance as the female lead in the movie. Mrunal will play a fiery cop in the actioner that revolves around two lookalikes who are the primary suspects in a murder case.



"When I heard the story, I instantly knew that I needed to be a part of this film. My character is intriguing, and playing a cop has been on my checklist. This will be distinct from all the characters I have played till now", Mrunal told mid-day.



On Monday (September 6), the Batla House actress took to social media and shared a picture with Aditya Roy Kapur and wrote, "It's time for a face-off!! #AdityaRoyKapur are you ready? Super excited to work in the Hindi remake of the Tamil hit, #Thadam, to be directed by #VardhanKetkar".



The Hindi remake of Thadam will be directed by debutant Vardhan Ketkar and it will go on floors in October this year. It will be produced by Bhushan Kumar and Murad Khetani under their respective production banners T-Series and Cine 1 Studios. The movie will hit screens worldwide in 2022.



Meanwhile, Mrunal Thakur, who was recently seen in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's directorial "Toofaan", co-starring Farhan Akhtar, will next be seen in the Hindi remake of Telugu blockbuster "Jersey". Co-starring Shahid Kapoor in Nani's role, Jersey has already been completed and is scheduled to release on Diwali this year.
