Sunny Deol's 'Border 2' Officially Announced
Mumbai, June 13 - Filmmaker J. P. Dutta has joined hands with producer Bhushan Kumar of T-Series to announce the sequel to War epic Border. The movie was announced on the 27th anniversary of the first movie which is one of the biggest Indian blockbusters ever.
Sunny Deol, who scored a mega-blockbuster with Gadar 2 last year, will be returning to reprise his role as Maj. Kuldip Singh Chandpuri in Border 2 which will be directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta under the banners of T-Series and JP Films.



The blockbuster sequel has been in the news since last and the makers finally made it official. While the rest of the cast is yet to be announced, actor Ayushmann Khurrana is said to be playing one of the prominent roles in the film.



The shoot of Border 2 is expected to commence by the end of this year or early 2025 and it will most likely hit the big screens on Republic Day 2026.



Border, which was released on June 13, 1997, was a huge box-office blockbuster with a worldwide gross collection of over 64 crores. It was written, directed, and produced by JP Dutta and also starred Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Akshaye Khanna, Sudesh Berry and Puneet Issar alongside a supporting cast including Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Tabu, Raakhee, Pooja Bhatt, and Sharbani Mukherjee in key roles. The movie was set during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 and is based on the events of the Battle of Longewala (1971).
